I'll be honest, I like goblins. I tend to use them as my ball carrier because of dodge and stunty. I hate the thrower and have never had any luck with him. But then again that's just my preference. Really enjoy the video, they are quite helpful

Suppose you never wanna throw ever, is a line orc with Sure Hands better than a thrower? It might be more useful/versatile on defense, right? What's your experience with Wrestle plus Jump up? Would Diving Tackle be a nice add-on to get most out of Jump Up? Do you often get rid of guard What would be needed to make it work on a ball carrier? It would be fun if it accepted a both down but got the ball back next round and be three movement ahead of his pursuer.

First BB3 Orks game following your guide. I buyed the chainsaw mercenary to balance against the Chaos Renegade I was facing. First roll, I attacked his minotaure - Dead - Apothecary - Dead. Opponent concede and I won enough to buy me a Troll. That balance my very first game with Imperials when I rolled double skull reroll double skull ... But I rolled low on the armor test too :)

Andy, just a thought on the KZbin video, it might be good if, after you have described the various ways a player could be developed, you could have a summary sheet depicting the skills and the order. For example orc goblin: throw team mate goblin - ag+, Ma+, SF, Sprint, Catch. Fouling Goblin - dirty player, sneaky git This would let viewers take a screen shot of the summary page for each player/ positional and refer back to it whilst playing.

I'm going to defend using a blitzer as a ball carrier a bit, but not because of the extra movement. Sure throwers start with sure hands which of course gives them a nice start as ball carrier, but that's a general skill so you can pretty quickly give that to a blitzer. And more importantly, blitzers start with block and have agility as a secondary skill. So what you can do (and what I just did) is grab sure hands, then save up spp (which you'll be getting quickly if they're your ball carrier) and get yourself dodge. Now you have a blodge ball carrier, which is a fucking nightmare to deal with, they have 3 strength so most characters are doing 1 die blocks without an assist. So they essentially have to roll a 6 to knock you down with only 1 pow on the die. And if you're forming cages, they may even have to do 2 die uphill, which pretty much guarantees that they won't be knocking you down unless they get a double pow.

Literally every screen has worse ui than 2 and I liked 2’s music better 2. It’s not a dig in just expressing my pain. I’m really struggling to feel like I haven’t wasted $50 dollars and forever lost my ability to play a new amazing blood bowl 2. These parts hurt most because I don’t think they will change. Also making an ai league to play offline is painful. I too hope that changes. Let’s pray to our respective gods

@@Hawks282 God I hope so. The announcement about the leveling and season system seems to be saying that the whole earn currency by playing thing wasn't true. You earn a max of 1000 from leveling and then its whatever's in the season pass.

Ive got a 1.5 million black orc team. There seems to be alot of bugs in the game on release. That, said its fun. Ive got like 15-20 hours in it. One bug is skaven dont seem to ever lose dodge and evade tackle rolls. I had a skaven team literally miss 2 evade tackle rolls the whole game in 16 turns. He must have made like 50 or more evade tackles and lost 2! at least it felt that way. Like at one time i had 4 of my team around 1 of his skaven runners guys and he still ran through 4 trip rolls on my guys and then scored. Also, theres a bug where you cant switch your team on quickhatch for some reason. sometimes i can only play my black orc squad and cant change it. Also matchmaking has this thing where since my team is 1.5 million, anything the the opponent is below that they get to buy star players which is really OP against me lol. This one star player he had literally could run 10 tiles in one move (black orc move 4 tiles), no joke he a white human running back i think. On my team i got 6 black orcs i made the with block and guard mostly to buff my offense. I got one trained troll i think with guard and brawler also. Then i got 4 goblins to run the ball. I tried to get pass and catch on two of them but its just bad lol. Goblins cant pass further then 4 tiles so its useless lmao.

I think there is always a case to be made for throwing goblins, particularly if your opponent scores on turn 8 and you have one turn to score back. Whether or not it's worth trying to get +PA for that is another discussion. There's a lot of dice to be rolled to be sure, but any OTTD has that issue.

Hey Andy! Why not consider using a line orc as ball carrier? Same movement as the thrower, can't pass, but no animosity. This means he can get the ball to the blitzers without risk of him refusing to do so, and the blirzers are the ones you want scoring, not the thrower. Sure, you can start a team with a thrower, but as soon as you get 6ssp on a line orc you grab sure hands and fire the thrower. Just a thought.

After having my troll injuried for a match, I found out that 4x Big Un, 4x Blitz, 2x Lineman 1x Thrower is a pretty good roster. But maybe it was just because I faced a team without a big guy for that match.

Putting Defensive on 4 or 5 players seems like overkill, given that it's a secondary skill for everyone except goblins. It's be +40k per model on anyone except goblins (as I can't imagine you'd be fishing for it by doing random agility skills), and twice as long to earn the SPP, which is a huge amount of bloat for a skill that doesn't work in your own turns.

@@AndyDavoBloodBowl I've been playing this BB version since it came out in 2020 (and first played BB in the late 1980s). I'm 98% confident there's no way to make a team efficient if it's loading-up on Defensive at 40k per player. Non-Guard teams will relish the waste of your TV, and Guard teams will enjoy how they've been getting Guard for 20k each (or even 10k - random strength skills are viable for many players). Especially as Guard works in both friendly and opposing turns, and for fouls. I know defensive can potentially stop more than one Guard player at once, but it's very niche at the above costs. I think if I was forced to get agility secondaries on players, I'd be getting Dodge before Defensive. The only thing I'll very much concede, though, is that (as mentioned before) if you're putting it on Goblins maybe you're somehow getting it to work - but it still seems niche as Goblins are such a weak link when they have to site next to an ally and hope the Guard opponent hits the ally, not it. Surly the temptation is to give the Goblin something like Sprint instead, for those Throw Team Mate touchdowns. As the main weakness of the Orc team isn't that it gets bashed by Guard teams, but that it's very easy to slow down so much that it can't come back from being down on touchdowns.

​@@mikefoster6018 if you foul at least 6 times a game with some good marking and assists with a dirty player git gobbo you'll most likely beat anyone you play against considering they are 110% the best fouler in the game cuz they can move in to tackle zones foul and jump out of there quickly with dodge and stunty built in automatically. No offense but Andy was the literal 2nd best player in the world at one point. I don't care if you have 40 years experience it means nothing if you aren't able to prove how good you are. 👍

Been reviewing this for my upcoming tabletop league game. Second ever league, first time ever with Orcs so this guide has been brilliant although I locked in 4 x Big un's, 4 x Blitzers and 3 x linemen with only 2 re-rolls before watching this video so will hopefully try the trash compactor method in my first game against a redrafted Chaos Renegade team. I do have 245 in inducements to play with so do I go for bribes and keg or a star player (table top has more options)?

Great guide, time stamps would also be great. I'm really thorned on the defensive skill. It feels such a luxury buy compared to guard since well, it only works on DEF and against a player with guard. But I my try this on a table top tournament where people always max out (3) the guard skill, just for shock value.

Troll Thrower 4xBig'Un 3xBlitzers 2xLinemen 2 Rerolls 3 MA 6 blitzers is enough for orks. We ain't about speed. ;) Get a "Leader" asap for that 3rd reroll...and of course hire that 4th blitzer!

Instead of bribes, isn't it cheaper to get a bunch of spare goblins? (And later get sneaky git and dirty player on some of them) Or maybe even use line orcs for this instead? Instead of using cash on temporary boosts, you could even gamble for nice random upgrades and recycle any failed ones. Do you ever do that?

Personal opinion, coming from bb2: bribes are always nice because u can foul with anyone pretty safely. Goblins are just an indentation in a solid armor: they lower strength and resilience. You want a dirty lino because he can resist easily hits and still do his job.

Hi Joe, you have 4 possible paths, so pick according to play style 1. Take block. He gets into a scrap you need protection. 2. Take passing skills. You wanna be an elf 3. Take a stat. You never get hit and win loads 4. Take on the ball, get him close to your team.

Hi Andy, I love all your BB3 races guides. But I have one different question, How did you setup the BB3 client, that your colors haven't so high contrast. I'm dizzy just to watch high contrast RED and BLUE in mine interface, but in your video those colors are toned down and ok. Maybe you should make a proper BB3 client setup video.

Bit late to the party here but I’m always 50/50 on who is the ball carrier I win my first tournament with a blitzer ball carrier in bb2 when he had block dodge sidestep and plus movement he was a true menace until he died in the finals turn 14, I just don’t like the slow/weaker armour myself but it’s always a close call for me 😅

So im looking at picking up Orcs as my first league team. Only 8-9 players in the league so shouldn't be too long. With the First Roster as my base, do you think it's worth firing the Goblin if he survives game one and just using a journeyman Line Orc while I save up for other positions and Apo? Yeah, they get Loner, but im gaining a free armor upgrade and just focus on SPP on different members of the team. Still very new to Blood bowl, so trying to make sure I don't handicap myself with a "brilliant idea". But it seems like a decent trade.

@@AndyDavoBloodBowl is the 5th edition of the Blood Bowl rules, that title discounts all previous editions of the game since the 1980s, which is incredibly strange as Games Workshop are happily celebrating that the next edition of 40k will be the 10th edition of the rules. That was something that I began playing in the earlier 90s compared to Blood Bowl, when 40k released 2nd edition, ergo the current rules for the edition of Blood Bowl release is the 5th edition, regardless of whatever title the game is given.
