I bought the game on the winter sale a month ago and recently found your channel. I have a lot of questions: - Starting formations: What I am even trying to do here? I just put my dudes in a way that looks nice and symmetric but I have no idea of what I'm doing. - When to follow and when to stay after a pow or push? Does it differ with different teams? - You calculate or approximate odds very quickly. Could you make a video explaining how to do that? - What types of cages are there. You mentioned an anti-leap cage. Are there more? - In other videos, you mention T-shapes and box-shapes and I don't know why are those important. I have many more questions but I think those are the most general ones.

I watched this yesterday before a league game (TT) that evening. I (humans) thought of this and didn’t fight too hard when my chorf opponent started the second half with the ball down 0-1, I gave him an opening to score quick and he took the bait and overextended on turn 3. Won 2-0 and would have been happy with the 2-1 I expected instead. Patience is hard sometimes but it pays off and so does having a plan.

Hi Andy, thanks for your tips, it's helped light a fire to get me back in to Blood Bowl (after a 6 year hiatus) just before the release of Blood Bowl 3. I notice a tactic many players use, no matter what their team, is, when receiving, to try to score on the last or 2nd last turn of the half. This obviously to limit the opportunity of the opposition to score before the half ends, but what are the best ways to fend off the bashy teams to do this? Sometimes it seems the bashy teams will smash through if the passing / running team delays too long & it might be better to score sooner & then fight like hell to keep the opponent out for the rest of the half
@AndyDavoBloodBowl2 жыл бұрын
your question is rather neuanced, but i think you just need to make a choice, how much more risk is there in delaying Vs how likely can they score with the remaining time - which ever is better for you is what you should pick.

I guess it's throw people forward to attack the ball carrier but playing vs elves they just seem to evaporate and run away! What’s the answer? I generally do the 2-1 grind unless I have a slow team like Khemri or dwarves that can’t OTTD and have difficulty even doing 2 or three turn tds. My strategy then is to hopefully get enough numbers advantage to prevent him scoring in the second half.
@syteanric4 жыл бұрын
I tend to win 2 0 alot with dwarves, i'll always receive first half if i can. The normally start to move forward about turn 5 but this goes to pot if i lose the runners early, i tend to lose the game!
@LPlateGamer4 жыл бұрын
Correct strategy if your opponent is competent or you haven't deleted enough of the team to make a turnover a reasonably good proposition. Especially with slow bashy teams like Dwarves. The 2-1 meta is usually to let them have first half offence and put enough pressure on them to make them score early. I played Lizards Vs High elves recently where HE scored on turn 2, I scored on T7 and T16. The HE could have danced around for 8 turns and then scored and then spent the second half just getting in the way and presenting me with few chances to block to force my way upfield to score.

If you have done one already over the years would you mind replying with a link for me to watch. I would really appreciate it as I have started learning bloodbowl 2 with a dwarf team and im struggling so much with there lack of Movement, (Oh and I fired the +8 str 210k Death Roller_ Just was'nt worth it even if i got lucky enough to get a bribe pre game it still just wasnt doing enough damage to justify my TV being so high just because of 1 player. Also the fact it had 9/16 spp after getting that double 6 making it +8str, 5 games later even with 9 injuries it produced which seems poor to me it still didnt gain any further SPP to give me a 2nd skill that perhaps may have made it more of killing machine and justified its value more, or maybe im just unlucky and/or because i continued to lose games with it in my team. Im trying Undead and a Necro Team as my 2 next build try outs. All the best for your channel going into the new year. 2:30 - I would say my answer would change IF I'm playing a team with MA8+ players. There have been times with Lizardmen when I've aimed to stall but the opposition has accidentally kicked the ball into the hands of a Skink and left a nice gap for him to just charge up the field. So I've found my answer has generally been "play for stall, but take gifted opportunities". Likewise Skavens, though most players nowadays know how to protect against 1TTDs. Saying that: I am a relatively new player, so I'm fully prepared to be wrong in my logic. 😅
@WoWisdeadtome3 жыл бұрын
I played one game against you with dwarfs about six months ago. I was saved by a fairly savage dicing and nearly pitch cleared the elves, but one thing I did learn about an offensive drive against elves was this: Your first turn or two is all about making sure the elves don't steal your ball, leave some players back in case a deep kick can be contested. Elves are not going to deploy everything on line and fight it out, so it's not a job for 9-10 players. SECURE THAT BALL, you have all half to get it down field. If all else fails a line cage is a reasonable stopgap measure, especially if one or both blockers have guard. It will limit a hit on the ball to 1D at best most of the time.

Answer to the first question: with fast agi teams (Skaven/wood elves, high Kislev), against teams that can't reliably pick the ball up (khemri, stunties, most teams without a thrower/catcher devoted player) I would rather score on turn 1 than turn 8, because there is a not inconsiderable chance of me scoring again and ending the half further ahead than 1-0, especially if (as in most of these cases) I am likely to be out bashed and be unable to resist fast scoring from the opponent in the second half

Good vid Andy. Question: How do you play this strategy out when the opposition pressures the ball carrier, especially with players with range and hitting ability? I was playing this kind of strategy as high elves in a recent game against underworld- (200 TV higher than me) I managed to keep 1st half 0-0 (turned him over but failed an easy catch to score in turn 8) then my possession second half tried this strategy- but got heavy pressure by skilled-up skaven blitzers, got some more bad luck on rolling under pressure to get out and ended up losing 1-0 on turn 16. I ended up kicking myself for not scoring when it was easy to do so early in the drive say turn 13-14, and getting at least a draw. I wondered if you thought the general strategy was still right and I just needed to play it out better to avoid the pressure (and roll better dice!) - some tips on how to deal with pressure would be cool. Thanks as ever for your content.
@AndyDavoBloodBowl3 жыл бұрын
generally, screens - you're probably talking about Necro for example. Note that the "fast" players, if committed are likely to be isolated and therefore blitzable, or if they are not isolated, then they are probably able to be 'ranged' out by a ball carrier and/or a light screen.
@Jimmwujawahwah3 жыл бұрын

First off, this is a GREAT video that I will be sharing with new coaches I run across. Second, I have some question and since you are (tangentially) responsible for the situation, I'm asking you. I've been playing BB for a while, but I've always played in either tournaments (your team is your team - it's not getting better or worse) or long term scheduled league formats (like FABBL or OCC [I gather from watching your videos], where team development is often the more important consideration that winning *every* game). But I've decided to join CCL (Xbox) next season. This will be my first time in a ladder format where you are fighting to earn a spot in the playoffs. What's most important, winning every match or developing the team? When do you know it's time to scrap the team and move to Team B (or reboot Team A) and not try and rebuild through it (I'm planning on trying to qualify with Pro Elves)? When do you know you ought to *stop* playing the team to avoid getting smashed *after* you've qualified? Do you want a game or two up on the next best team? (Looks like you can check via GoblinSpy to see where you stand)? Feel free to reply here or where ever you think would be best. Thanks! And keep up the great work!

Great video but this highlights why I lost interest in BB… it’s all about caging the ball and delaying. I miss the NAF rules from the BloodBowl Companion that added downs as the way to advance the clock… not just turns. It meant you couldn’t stall but had to push for a TD every drive which incentivized actually taking risks and passing games. Games were so much more fun and less predictable using that rule set.
