I kicked off in bands from 1970, & my brothers followed suit, influenced by all the things you admire, are moved by, and (seriously) talk about. Im the only one now playing, cause i found another (genre) path, but my brothers were so soul destroyed - they just withdrew. We all get why you stopped playing - in FIVE bands no less…Ignore the insipid stuff, and pursue the 'good' stuff. Live long, love, & prosper Andy, whatever direction you take. When songs sung in Spanish started appearing on the charts sometime in the 80s, my intuition told me that disaster was around the corner.
@williamfarr880715 күн бұрын
Not to be contentious but, songs sung in Spanish started appearing on the charts in the 1920s, 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s, 70s, etc. There has always been a steady stream of music from Latin America and the Caribbean coming into America, with cross influences going both ways. It is a pretty interesting area of music with a fascinating history. It goes back to the 19th century and is still going on today.

For me one of the most annoying songs ever is "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers. The chorus of "lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it, lovin' it, etc., etc., ad nauseam," with the word "daaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy" held out forever on top of it is monotone and out of tune and forever reminds me of the McDonald's commercial for which it served as a theme song a few years ago. No, it's not a fecking lovely day and I find McDonald's much more lovely!
