I've always been a Bullets/Wizards fan from the Webber & Howard days to the MJ and Hamilton/Stackhouse days to the Arenas, Jamison & Butler days to the Wall and Beal days to now and the constant theme with the Wizards is that they're all hype but never play up to their expectations. In the mid 2000s those Arenas led teams were really fun to watch but you knew they wouldn't reach their potential, the Wiz always underperform idk why but that's always been the case. @T Mitch Thibs Knicks are headed in the right direction. Scrappy team with young talent, a lot of upside there. Finally y'alls future looks bright. They mauled my Wizards in back to back games. They just play hard and play fundamental tough defense and now that they're relevant they'll attract a superstar type of player that will put them over the top. They have the 5th seed locked down since the Hornets lost Ball for the year. I hope this is a start to the Knicks being a consistently good basketball team because the NBA is better when the Knicks are good.
@justcurious24393 жыл бұрын
@@ryanb7013 The Knicks are going nowhere. Literally 2 games over .500. They will probably not make the playoffs now that the Bulls are a better team. The management is not good and had ample chances over the last decade to make a better team. Also the Wizards should be better than they are if you look at the roster. Maybe if you guys would actually give Deni Avdija some playing time 🙄
@ryanb70133 жыл бұрын
@@justcurious2439 the Knicks won't make playoffs? They're tied with the 4th seed with a Hornets team that's lost Ball for the season. They'll 100% make playoffs. They won't do anything in the playoff but given how terrible that franchise has been lately and given how their ownership and front office are the reason why they've been bottom dwellers in the East I'd say they're headed in the right direction. Whether they build off of this year is another story, can't trust them to make the right decisions or make the right moves so who knows how they'll respond next season. On paper the Wiz should be a 4 or 5 seed in the East. Losing Thomas Bryant for the season early on doesn't help. Brooks is a terrible coach, they play no defense whatsoever and they have the worst front court in the NBA. Russ and Beal need help and its frustrating watching them play. At least they're a fun team to watch. They're 5 games back from the 8th seed so I doubt they'll make a run. I'm loyal to my teams though no matter how bad they are. Props to you noticing Avdija though, you know your basketball. That goes to show you how terrible of a coach Brooks is and given how thin our roster is at the moment there's no reason why he's averaging only 21 min per game. Coaches this time of year usually give their rookies more time on the court to get that experience and grow so it's frustrating to see our 9th pick not getting the opportunities and the playing time he should be getting. Brooks needs to go after the season

You could honestly argue none of these trios were disappointments. Minnesota's big 3 prior to 03-04 was expected to make the second round at best and got to the WCF. Houston's was one of many western contenders in the 96-97 season and made the WCF. Washington had pretty shallow depth outside of their big 3 so making the second round wasn't really a disappointment. The thunder made the finals. The knicks were disappointing but were also riddled with injuries while that big 3 was together. The NOLA big 3 didn't even play a full season together. Pretty much none of these teams were disappointing unless you consider anything short of being NBA champions disappointing.

I’m a Georgia Tech fan. I was just a kid when the Wolves drafted Marbury but I was ecstatic. I adopted the Wolves as my NBA team and KG became my favorite NBA player. Even after Marbury left I remained a Wolves fan thanks to KG. I remember year upon year the Wolves would make the playoffs but lose in the first round. In hindsight it’s pretty remarkable that KG made the playoffs so many times in that insanely loaded Western Conference with Wally Szczerbiak as his best teammate for the majority of the time there (shoutout to Terrell Brandon. He was a very solid PG, reminds me of a poor man’s Chauncey Billups who was ironically drafted by Minnesota but incorrectly used, poorly developed and off the team before he really became the Billups we saw for the Pistons and Nuggets). That 2003-2004 season was magical for Wolves fans. KG won MVP, the Wolves earned the 1 seed with 58 wins (having a better record than the Lakers who had signed Malone and Payton in the offseason). Unfortunately after the Clippers the Wolves are the clear cut most unfortunate/poorly run franchise in the NBA. Sam Cassell, in the midst of a monster season being a perfect compliment to KG, got hurt in the playoffs. He tried to battle but he just had nothing left and his backup, Troy Hudson, just didn’t have enough. A crippled Wolves team lost that series in 6 with all but 1 of their losses being by single digits (lost game 3 by 11). Had Cassell not hurt his back and the Wolves had somehow gotten past the Lakers I firmly believe that they would’ve beaten the Pistons. Minnesota was a completely different match up for Detroit and Ben Wallace wouldn’t have had the success defending KG like he did against Shaq. Had the Wolves hasn’t lost Cassell to injury and somehow pulled off the mini upset vs the Lakers and held on as a favorite vs the Pistons KG would’ve had one of the greatest seasons of all time winning league MVP, likely winning finals MVP and finishing first team all NBA defense. That would’ve changed the trajectory of history as it’s likely things go way different for the Wolves is they win it in 2004.
