Helps very much. Became addicted to Windy since I saw your video (first discovered with Mr VDPutte) on this matter. This video is even better, great !!! Will try it out this evening. In Tenerife for the moment and will head to the Teide this evening (time-lapse and photography) Thank you for sharing this info

Thanks Edward. Make sure you try both forecast models because, being as you're in Europe, the European forecast model might actually do a better job of predicting the cloud cover. Be interested to hear how you go.

Hello Andy ... I have been experimenting with Windy for a fair while and the advice you have given has been excellent. Windy as a tool is I find very accurate however I have found one huge spanner in the advanced planning works for me based in the UK. That is Wind Speed. Example this very morning ( Christmas Eve ) I was up around 5.30am and thought I would check the possibility of of a decent sunrise. Things were not looking too good. I am in mid Cheshire. However sunrise was a belter and the reason was that wind speed had moved a lovely cloud gap that was originally over Holland at 5.30 into the right position in around 2 hours. My tip would be too look well beyond the 100Km depending on that Wind speed. As the UK is relatively narrow from the East to West Coast, Cloud gaps occurring well over Europe can move to us in a very short time dependant on Wind direction and Speed.

Do you mean that gap basically means not a 100% cover?

The gap is an edge to the cloud in the direction the sun is setting or rising. About 80km distance is good, the closer the gap is, the shorter the time the colour in the skies will be.
