It infuriates me to no end that people I consider among the most talented humans on Earth are passed up for the name recognition of one note, vocally flat actors like James Corden or Chris fucking Pratt of all people. The problem that fans of kpop, or specifically ARMY had with James is the fact that that he called all of us as 15 year olds with a demeaning tone. Which is incredibly rude, untrue, and uncalled for when he 'rode the high' of having ARMY's like him the first time he had BTS over and even having Jimin be his 'mochi' (intense eyeroll). Adding on to this, the problem with the '15 year olds' adds on to the problem that whatever a female teen likes is considered cringe until people outside that group say other wise. BTS aren't just famous based off of looks, they worked hard to get there and their performances, lyricism, compisition, and even fan service is all spectacular. It gives something that Western artists don't do, that's the appeal. Also, it's just overall demeaning to fans who aren't '15 year olds'. Like what's wrong that there are 15 year olds in the fanbase along with kids and older people? >okay I'm seeing a lot of yall go "dramatic" or "I had it worse in this 'fandom'" and act like that dismisses the issue. It doesn't. I don't know where yall got the mindset that because you had it worse or experienced this, others should too? I'm sorry yall went through to that and got made fun of for enjoying and investing time in something that brought you happiness. Most of the time, if something isn't considered mainstream, it'll quickly become the thing to make fun of, especially those who support it. And then it slowly becomes the "Oh you're so cool for liking this" when it picks up attention by certain mainstream influences or majority people[perfect example: anime]. But to bring it back to my main point-just because YOU dealt with something DOESN'T mean it's RIGHT for others to deal with it. And as stated above, this issue isn't just fandom wise, BUT the fact that females, especially TEENS get trashed the most for whatever they like.

Honestly, James Corden is still under the impression that he was the favourite in Gavin and Stacey, despite the fact that all of his co-stars were just as, if not far more talented and funnier than he was. He’s been riding the Gavin and Stacey high all the way to America, and it’s quite funny to watch him crash down to the blatant fact that he was never as funny as he thought he was now that he has a completely new audience who has never seen him in Gavin and Stacey before and he therefore can’t use that to his advantage.

could it be because he was one of the writers of Gavin and Stacey that he attributes the show's success to himself and simply is misguided that it's due to his acting and not his writing? ARMY here, I was honestly on the fence for his joke about BTS and ARMY, even if honestly it wasn't funny and led to a lot of questions, I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt, and when it became clear the issue wasn't just gonna dissapear I expected him to make some kind of statement. Anything. And decided I'd judge him then. He didn't say anything for months, until he invited BTS back, then tried to act as if nothing happened. When he was called out by RM (BTS's leader) he basically told them "But didn't you see how mean ARMY was to me afterwards?" and expected, I don't know, for BTS to scold their fans? He really has the mentality of the fandom being a bunch of teenagers that BTS has to babysit or something (by the way, ARMY is a 10 year old fandom, and somehow we are still teenagers after all that time, amazing how we found the solution for eternal youth). Then he just said "Well, I'm sorry they felt that way". That's not being sorry, that's blaming ARMY for their feelings. RM even tried to be like, "We apreciate your apology" and he kept saying "I'm not apologizing" like, dude, at least pretend for the sake of your public persona :X Also it was more of a betrayal for the way ARMY had treated him before, donating to his charity and supporting his show even outside of the chapters where BTS was a guest because we were grateful for the way he had treated BTS in the past.

This was a great video, it was a lot of fun and I would love one about the cats movie as well! I am autistic (this is relevant to the comment) and I’m not proud of it but a while ago the late late show w/ James corden was my comfort show because it was easy to digest, there were cool artists performances and I could have it in the background to fall asleep to. I came to appreciate it more when I got a special interest in kpop because he was one of the only interviewers who treated kpop idols like actual artists/people and not like robots programmed for childrens entertainment (this is not my opinion of the groups that have been on the show but the general perception a lot of people have about kpop boy groups) but that didn’t turn out to be true in the end since he decided to throw bts under the bus for a joke when that seemed more profitable lol. I naturally got bored and stopped watching the show a long time ago and I don’t know when or why the shift happened in my mind but now I can’t stomach him at all and I don’t really know what was so appealing about him back then because the things I liked in the show were the concepts, not necessarily James corden himself Edit: I want to clarify that I meant that I’m not proud of enjoying the show. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was that experience that got him into US talk shows anyway.

If it makes anyone feel better, the next time he interviewed BTS after his comment about them, they made him squirm and stutter. I've never seen a TV host lose control of a show like that. Also, ARMY does an annual census, most of us are in our twenties, same ages as BTS. That might seem strange to people that don't know them but the majority of their music is about socioeconomic, political and personal issues with a major focus on mental health. Two songs army go nuts for are Spring Day and Baepsae. Spring Day is about grief, and Baepsae is about socioeconomic injustice and involves BTS calling baby boomers motherf*ckers. I became a fan after reading the lyric "there is already a mortgage on my future" from a song called Go Go which is about the hopelessness young people feel when contemplating their economic future.

Corden saying it's unusual for BTS speaking at the UN when that one was actually their 3rd time giving a speech, and he knew that because he talked about those before. A lot of fans who loved him before realised what he's probably like actually.

49% of bts fans are over the age of 18 so i think its rude to those fans as well to imply they’re 15 yo girls when some are literally grown men💀 also he didnt rlly get away with it army was on his ass and they spoke about it when bts went back.

First video i've seen of yours. Really refreshing to see someone articulate the strands of thoughts I'm too cooked to get out of my head in such a purposeful and analytical way.

Completely off topic- but just came across your channel because of this video. You are amazing! Love your pace, editing and jokes. I hope you get more attention!

I think a good example of Corden’s “issues” is Peter Rabbit 2 It felt like every other joke in the film is an attack on people who don’t like that James Cordon plays Peter Rabbit

Every once in a while I come back and watch this video and I always forget the emoji movie existed because Im rarely forced to have it in my thoughts on a day to day basis. I can go months without remembering it, but then something comes up and it’s like war flashbacks

I know this isn’t what your video was specifically about, but you mentioned it, so here goes: the whole issue was precisely BECAUSE BTS fans AREN’T majority 15 yo … he was absolutely disrespectful and it was very satisfying to see BTS hold him accountable a few months later when they were on the show.

Get someone like Kate McKinnon or Tina Fey to host. They've got the "cool aunt" vibe thatd be great for late night. Gen Z will watch non-Gen Z actors, and if you do only Gen Z humor, then MOST viewers will not relate to it. Gen Z is not, also, the primary demographic - but it is smart to make stuff that appeals to us. ALL you need to do there is have diverse casting, we laugh at the same jokes as long as they're not "ooh, influencers bad, that woman who got murdered must be lazy and stupid for doing the exact same job I do as a television personality. Hey, wouldn't it be funny if her family happens to watch my show?" The guy tried to say she was entitled for not being a doctor/lawyer or a "working class job" like him, when he is a megamillionaire tv personality and an idiot.
