@Scottoiler : I'm using the xsystem now (previously vacumn and esystem). Why did you make it so the oil output tube goes up inside it? I have leaks now. If it was just a spigot on the bottom then I could have just retrimmed the tube. Not sure there's anything I can do now. 😞

Hi. With the unit permanently powered up how do you turn it on and off? Manually? In Andy’s case, lifting the seat at the start finish of each ride? Thanks.
@scottyuk2 жыл бұрын
@mjpt57 The Esystem and Xsystem go into a sleep mode but they are sensing for the vibrations of a running engine to come to life. The sleeping drain is tiny. If you wish to go totally off the pop the inline fuse. You could on course put an inline switch in but it's not needed

I live quite close to the Scottoiler HQ in Scotland; took my then KTM 1190 over to them for fitment and to allow them to document fitting it to the KTM. This was around eight years ago, it did not have the one way check valve then. It works OK, you can use automatic transmission fluid in the system instead of the Scottoil which I believe is just coloured ATF. Gone to the dark side now.. shaft drive, don't think I will come back.😈 Have a lovely Christmas.

Whilst watching it all I could think of was that it's coming off again soon 😁 Oh and I also wondered when you'd realise that the breather tube is not where you fill it with oil. Relieved to see you removed the rubber filler at the end. It would have been like changing the oil on a car through the dipstick hole 😁👍
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
Haha! True, but not until after 5000km in Norway! It’s sitting on the shelf now, waiting for the elves to fit to the KTM! You can pop the breather bit out and the nozzle on the xm end of the bottle filler pipe fits perfectly into the rubber bit. It’s really not that bad as the oil all pours in and leaves the pipe clear for air to pass. After all, it is the exact same hole the the oil is going in to. If you had the right sized nozzle, you actually could change the oil through the dipstick hole! Might take a while though! 😜

The Tutoro is definitely far easier to install. The next fitting of this, on the KTM will be slightly more involved as I’ll be putting the control panel on the bars. Still good not to have to chop into the vacuum gubbins though.

Depends on what you want and how religious you are. I personally have gotten vastly increased chain life and greatly reduced maintenance faff from having chain Oilers. But for some who are more about messing with the chain and religiously clean and lube, sure the oiler might seem overkill. Horses for courses and each to their own! 👍🏻
@davidmatthews30932 жыл бұрын
Give me the Scottoiler every time. They clean and lubricate your chain while you enjoy the ride. Desert one day, thunderstorms the next, the Scottoiler copes with it all.

Hi Andy! I have the same scottoiler on my Tracer but lately stopped dripping. I think the reason is that the pump is creating a vacuum. The pump is “sucking” the oil to send it to the chain, but I don’t see where it gets air to breathe and avoid creating a vacuum. My reservoir is on inclination, so thought of removing the little cap which is on top of the component you take off when refilling the reservoir with oil. Am I missing something bog? Do I make a big mistake?

In case I missed it, and possibly stupid question, but how does it decide when to pump the oil? It takes a perm not switched live, presumably isn't when the bike is "on", so is it vibration based or something else?

The control unit has accelerometers in it, that recognise when the bike is running and moving. This then tells the pump to pump.

@AndyManCam Жыл бұрын
Thanks! As far as I’m aware, the Scottoiler has a backup battery so it remembers its settings, even without power from the bike. So you should be able to mount anywhere/anyhow. Just remember that the warranty is potentially voided if you cut the O-rings off 😱

Hey Love your videos! Do you think a CB1000R is good for a heavy rider 110-120 kg 190cm suspension wise ?
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
Hey, thanks Teodor. I’m 100kg in gear and already had the preload front and back wound up as high as it would go. I replaced the rear shock for 500€ with a stronger spring, but the front was still on the limit. So it’ll work, but you’ll be wanting to at least change out the springs front and rear pretty soon.
@233kosta Жыл бұрын
If it's anything like my 650R, they've gone with softer springs and instead rely heavily on compression damping to prevent bottom.out under hard acceleration and braking. I assume this has upsides in cornering (being easier to compress the front in cornering, for instance), but the downside is that all this compression damping sends every last bump through your body. I for one would prefer a more balanced setup, even if it means I need to work harder to get the cornering performance.
@AndyManCam Жыл бұрын
Totally agree. First get the springs right before you start messing with damping.

I'm interested in a chain oiler for my work commute Versys 650. Which out of the tutoro or this e3.1 would you recommend. I think this scotoiler one looks easier to use with the digital display.
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
The Scottoiler certainly is easier with the display and the automatically regulated flow based on temperature. But then the Tutoro is far simpler and half the price. So it’s ease of use with extra cost and more involved install, or simple but with less control and less installation location options! 🤷♀️

As an expensive piece of kit I presume it's now on the KTM. Perhaps you should've just bought a GS instead? 🤔 😉. I see TLR was more than somewhat smitten with the GS on his trip in Spain with TeapotOne. 😱
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
Not yet, but it must definitely will be. I’m still doing it old school at the moment and already i hate it! 😜 I’m just not taken by the GS. I’d love a shaft drive, but nothing with a shaft, except for maybe the new Moto Guzzi, grabs my attention right now. I interpreted TLR‘s experience as him being very uncomfortable with the lack of feel at the front and a bit scared to push on because of it.

@sudolea2 жыл бұрын
@@AndyManCam Of course this is ("only") my idea about it : YES ! Because unless you own a Goldwing or another ship like a K1600 of some type, space is always limited on a bike. Not to mention this oiler is otherwise "properly over-engineered" 🤐
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
Yeah i see that. I guess it’s pros and cons with every system. This Scottoiler reservoir is big, but you can lay it down almost flat and you get more miles per fill up. The TUTORO reservoir is smaller, but it has to be upright and filled more often. The TUTORO is simpler, but doesn’t adjust flow even the temperature changes. The Scottoiler is technically advanced, but for some too complicated. You just need to find the system that works best for your personal situation and machine. I personally am looking forward to the increased oil capacity and advanced control of this system, when i fit it to the KTM. It’s the perfect setup for a mile munching tourer machine. But perhaps too much for a small city commuter.
@sgomez30472 жыл бұрын
Way over thought Andy
@AndyManCam2 жыл бұрын
I actually disagree. But it depends on what you personally want. For me, especially on the new KTM, i want to know that the oiler is working, change settings without having to stop and know that there is oil in the reservoir. With this system i can do all that, plus i don’t need to chop into the vacuum system and the oil flow is regulated based upon the temperature. So for me, all of those high level features are exactly what i want. But if you prefer a simpler system, then there are simpler systems out there to do the job. Just because it doesn’t fit your personal needs, doesn’t mean it’s a bad product. It’s just possibly not the one for you.
