Awesome video Andy! Thank you. As an automotive seating engineer I can tell you that the PU Leather (fake) is far superior in terms of durability (and basically every other category) than the real leather from cows. The original one was also PU however the cross stitch pattern will also make it last longer. Plus, for cars anyway, a chemical is added to make it smell like real leather so the untrained person can’t really tell the difference! 👍😎🇦🇺
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Marcus. That's good to know for sure. I had that exact opinion on the tip of my tongue, but no actual facts or experience to back it up with. So I kept my mouth shut! Awesome that the cross stitch will extend life AND it looks great too! I never knew that they even pipe leather smell into fake leather too! 😄

I'd get mine done if it was free 😁 yours look great. Maybe I actually will in the future as I've been thinking about getting my seat on my new to me ZX9r done as it is slippery, and the leather although in pretty good condition with no tear's, it is looking a little aged and the seat is pretty hard so bit of extra or new padding would be nice.

Excellent production. 👍 Think I'll sit on the fence about SW Motech promotions. Do they supply a seat for sitting on the fence? 🤔
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
They do. But it's custom made for the fence. Deliciously styled and terribly comfy, but at the luxury end of the price scale 😜 . I'm sure that the swathe of real life testing I'm hoping to get done will give some weight and credibility to these SW promotions. 👍🏻

That seat really suits the bike, much better compared to the stock one! A bit on the pricy end though :)
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Agreed on both counts. It's certainly not cheap. But hopefully if the looks are an indicator of the function, it'll prove to be worthy of it's price tag. I just need to go out there and get lost on it!

That's some serious editing going on there Andy, a pleasure to watch. When I saw your choice of cover I didn't expect it to really match up with the bike, but what a compliment it gives to the whole look, very classy indeed, and I can imagine the extra inches of seat height will be a god send, that's one of the reason's (also because it was getting a little old) why I part exchanged my 2008 model. I think you made the perfect choice and can't wait to see some footage out on the road. When will you be able to ride again?
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Phil! It was a little bit of a leap. but I'm leaning more towards the café side of styling! The performance is Neo enough to go retro with the looks! Hoping that I can get out again in a week or two. Most healing is done, it's just comfort now.

@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Dave. It's been a labour of love creating this one! I edited it with Davinci Resolve (free). TBH for me right now, the light at the end of the tunnel would be not ever having to go back to work! They can keep the money!! 😂

Very nice! Great service from SW-motech, but it would be more convinient for them to very first ask what brand and model and year motorcycle you have and is it a standard seat which the moto came with. Then you woudnt have to describe the seat. How should I know if it has gel or not? etc.
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
I guess it would be convenient for the user, sure. But then SW-Motech would have to build a database of every bike and every version. Plus some have a gel seat as an optional extra. So you'd still have to answer the same question anyway!

Great video. Appreciate the time and effort it must have taken. You mentioned your partner riding pillion. I would love this bike but have ruled it out, as the wife wants to jump aboard. How does it actually fare in the comfort stakes, are my assumption correct, that it would be really uncomfortable for pillion ?
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Many thanks TPW. To be honest she’s never been on it. Never been on any of my bikes. But we’ve talked about it maybe being a possibility. It’s not the biggest pillion seat, but then it’s definitely not the smallest either! The lack of any kind of grab rail could make things interesting too.
@teapotwood28173 жыл бұрын
@@AndyManCam thanks Andy 👍would love to see some videos of how you get on with your wife/girlfriend as pillion. So hard to find a bike, that I like, that is suitable for pillion passenger. it would be nice if more reviews would cover pillion passenger comfort and practicalities.

Beautiful seat,BTW did you find much difference with the booster plug ,was it difficult to fit to the CB. Tank off job or prop up. Keep up the excellent vids 👍
@AndyManCam3 жыл бұрын
Cheers Matt. it is a handsome perch! I found the BP very easy to fit. Didn't even have to lift the tank. It just took a bit of super dexterity / ET fingers as the connector is on the underside, rear left corner of the tank. The difference isn't massive TBH. Sport mode is the biggest winner. I actually managed to ride in the wet and also crawl through traffic in Sport mode with much less jerkiness than before. Otherwise I think the difference is maybe about 10% in other areas. but then, I find the fuelling of the CB1000R very good anyway. My main goal was to tune out the buzziness in the midrange. Which it also has done a tiny bit. Hope that complicated answer helps!
