I built this simple cutting board with breadboard ends using mostly hand tools. I surfaced the rough board using my scrub plane and No. 7 bench plane. The breadboard ends function to help keep the board flat over time, they allow for seasonal expansion and contraction. I tried to build most of the project using only hand tools, however I did use my power drill to drill holes. The wood is reclaimed cypress, which turned out to have beautiful colors in the grain.

You can, Im 66 and have learned over the years all my lief - I collect and use hand tools - - you are lucky to live in utube age - which is like having a master craftsman in you house - buy some 2 hand - hand tools - Stanley planes and saws and - English chisels from eBay - make a mallet as first project - make a bench as second project - use pallet scrap timber - you need just a very small space - Japanese saws are good but work backwards - go for it young person - you'll be glad you did as you got the bug.

You are in my opinion are a true wood orker, a true craftsman. I could never saw a board straight, but with all the modern toys, gadgets and jogs, even I can have some success in woodworking. You, my friend, are the real craftsman and what an experience to watch you, Thank you,

This t.co/SGIXIPXR0z is an amazing book about woodworking. I`m a graduate of a one-year carpentry course from a local tech college. Of all books I`ve read during my study about carpentry, I think this is the finest book I`ve read so far. It explains everything regarding woodworking as well as complements it with helpful photos.?

Andy, great video as always. I love the fact that you let your work speak for itself. You don't need words to describe what your doing. The sounds of the tools on the wood are very Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR) in nature. Calming in nature. Keep up the fine work!!!!!

Using only hand-tools to create something in this day and age. Is a slap to the face to all the craftsmen that came before us that paved the way with their blood and sweat so we didn't have to go through what they did... People and tools evolve together.
