I wonder how this insanity of a festival came to be?!? A lot of resentment must be felt to not feel awkward and instead to feel patriotic when your side makes those outlandish movements or ritually fights the other side with invisible swords.. I guess this show is used to defuse or express peacefully some of the frustrations on the border settlement...Just crazy (from an outlander's perspective)

Yes, this used to be a serious ceremony with both sides simply marching in with their full dress goose stepping style in absolutely perfect unison, attempting to look sharper than the other guys. It now appears to have descended (hasn't everything?) into an NBA Dunk Contest style "look at me" individual performance, complete with hot chick soldiers/cops (who aren't that good compared to the old days - but they ARE hot). I'm beginning to understand my Grandparents more each day. It IS all going to Hell.

If the original Idea of Sukarno, Nehru, Ali from the Banding conference of 1955 would revive that these three countries (Indonesia, India & Pakistan) could combine forces, also with Thailand (without dictatorship) and VietNam, there would be a real new world power. A force fo the good - with al the philosophy and culture in the history of those countries - to compete peacefully with the USA, China, Russia and (Western) Europe. With a new vision on everything. The only problems to solve are poverty, environment, the thread to nature an climate change.

There are 3 pressure points on Earth where things might erupt like a volcano at any moment. Israel vs Palestine is a civilizational war of Jews vs Muslims India vs Pakistan is civilizational war of Hindus vs Muslims North Korea vs South Korea is proxy war USA vs Russia/China. Among these 3 the most dangerous is India vs Pakistan as both are equally nuclear powered. So in case of the existnce is concerned civilizational wars are more lethal. Also considering India and Israel are two of the ancient still continuously living civilizations of the world fighting with a newly made one gives the ancient one more determination of "This is our land"... Palestine is fighting for existence, Pakistan is fighting for revenge without any reason even though its not harmed, North Korea is fighting for power Peace is never an option for these countries unless either of these economically weak countries completely collapses even so there will be problem.

They’re not trying to look like “peacock” they’re wearing turbans representing where they come from. Turbans back in day were like calling cards, one would be able to would tell lot about person such as, what area they come from, what religion they follow, their social status etc. just by the color and patterns of the turbans as well as how they’re tied to head.

I worked in Pakistan and India, as a defense contractor. India was by far the best of the two. We had a van load of armed security guards that met us and escorted us off the plane in Islamabad, Pakistan. We stayed on an Army Base, to avoid attempts at kidnapping one us,lol. It takes the local thugs two to three days to plan a kidnapping,so either stay in hotels where locals stay or as we did, on the army base. In India, on the other hand, we all just got in a small taxi after leaving the New Delhi Airport, and had a fun drive to a nice hotel. I taught the hotel chefs how to make an American milk shake,ha,ha. They did not grasp the nuances of a proper milk shake sad to say.

Well, with respect to your heritage we know that on Independence they slau-ghtered each other whipped up by clerics & rumour. They would do it again unless the rabid politicians curb their lying tongues & work things out peacefully. We've seen it already in Kashmir that big trouble is always about disputed borders & religion & it's not changed much really. Relig-ion is a terrible addiction & only Western Europe where Govts are secular & re.ligion is for ceremonial use only & for those who are needful. I hope you are right & I am wrong..

@@seltaeb9691 we both are right as well as wrong. I have been active with UNSC committees and all with all that I can say. Again it's my research and I think I have worked with UNSC committees soo much that the political maneuvers don't shock me now. It's happening everywhere. Politics is a dirty profession. US President Joe Biden was showing a tough stance in Russia. It was nothing but I simple political move the reality the of talks will never be revealed. And taking abt western Europe secular. It's totally wrong. The western Europe is still one beautiful f the most Islamophobic places.
