Very helpful video helped me setup my fios! What do you recommend the first 3 slots on the Router ? Is one faster then the other lan 1 , lan2 , and 10GE lan
@AMPTechGradeАй бұрын
Happy to be of assistance :) The 10gig port will come in handy if you have a device that supports 2.5gb Ethernet or higher. But tbh if all you have is gig internet or lower, it won’t matter. It’ll only make a difference if you have the 2Gb FiOS service. In this case, all the Ethernet ports will give you the same speed across the board

You don't need to separate the networks. There is an IOT network that you can enable in the router.
@99tahoelt3 ай бұрын
Did you Fios Extender Automatically assume the network name of the main router? Do they Auto Mesh seamlessly? My extender is connected via CAT 6 to the main router and recently I'm noticing slower speeds when connected to the extender.
@AMPTechGrade3 ай бұрын
Yes it finds the main router setting and assumes it. Definitely try separating the networks because the problem I’ve had with wifi for YEARS is that your devices always stay connected to the slower 2.4GHz band on the further wireless extender than the one you’re standing right next to
@resolute01769Ай бұрын
You don't have to use the Verizon specific router. Any brand of a gigabit mesh router will work coming off the ont using the cat6 cable. However, if you have FiosTV then the Verizon router is required.

Ur extender should be connected hard wired either coax cable or ethernet cable that wont work if ur trying to move it without those connections

The fiber optics are fragile and it’s best to keep the ONT (the fiber modem) separate & isolated near the outside of the home for the fiber, while allowing you to locate the ONT wherever you’d like in the home Trust me, the snappier more reliable internet from Verizon makes it all worth it

These CR1000 routers do not connect to the extender over WPS. Only the G3100 (the more roundish router) and the E3200 extender (again the more roundish version) can connect to each other over WPS. Also why do you have the new 2024 Cr1000 router with the older E3200 extender? Why don’t you have the newer 2024 version Ce1000 extender (the squarish ones)?

Can you use Ethernet to connect the router to the extender and have the extender accept the signal that way?
@SyedSulaimanHasany3 ай бұрын
I'm so aggravated, I've had the worst luck trying to get the Internet to work at my place. Thanks for the very easy to follow instructions! How long does the router take to stop blinking? I'm not sure if it'll stop, it's been 15 minutes 😑
@AMPTechGrade3 ай бұрын
Give it another 10 and then unplug and plug back in and see. If it still don’t stop blinking, I would swap it out. Go to a local Verizon store that handles FiOS gear (call ahead) or call Verizon to ship a new one out to you, it happens

Coaxial cable can be used for Internet service. With Fios routers & extenders, the router is connected to the ONT using an Ethernet cable. The "F" connectors on the back or the routers & extenders can be connected into the coaxial cable infrastructure. If utilizing this arrangement, splitters should be rated MoCA 2.0 or higher. RG6 coaxial cable has been the standard for residential situations for quite a while. However, older buildings may still have RG59 cable present. 59 can be used in a pinch, but an upgrade to 6 would be worth considering. RG11 is overkill for residential applications. A final note about coaxial cable. There are lots of "How to" videos that cover the preparation & termination of coaxial cable. Some of the videos show the host completely removing all of the shielding & foil wraps from the cable before applying the end connector. That is incorrect advice. This video shows how to prep & terminate RG6 coaxial cable: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHyop5afepp6bcU

Which model FIOS router is that - Model: CR1000A ? I have both the G1100 and G3100
@AMPTechGrade4 ай бұрын
This is the CR1000A yes, it does WiFi 6A vs the G3100 but it does not do WiFi 7. The extender tho looks similar to the G3100 as they did not update the extenders to a newer model yet, they’ll probably wait til wifi7 before they release a new extender

@@AMPTechGrade I thought CR1000A only works with CE1000A?
@bewarethedecks2 ай бұрын
@@Nicopear The E3200 will work with the CR1000A & B with some limitations. The E3200 does not support the 6 GHz bands. Also, the E3200 won't pair with the CR1000 using Wi-Fi. It requires a wired connection. Verizon now offers the new extender. Here at home, I have the G3100 router (basement) and (3) hard-wired E3200 extenders (one on each floor) to cover the house. Works quite well! 🙂

No matter where i go to figure out how to set up this extender, i seem to walk away wondering if i missed something. Where was the tutorial for the extender?
@AMPTechGrade4 ай бұрын
Towards the end, it was super easy. I first connected them to each other using ethernet. Once the extender is all set, I disconnected them from each other and moved it to somewhere else in the house where there is a coax line Do Not rely on WiFi, the router and extender NEED to BOTH be connected to coax cable tv wiring in the home in order to make sure the WiFi signal will be FAST wherever you are in the household, the mesh WiFi from other companies is crap because systems like eero connect to each other via WiFi and that WiFi signal of itself is prone to signal interference, Verizon extenders are always stable using Ethernet or coax as it’s a hardline connection to each other

Reboot your router and ONT by unplugging. And checking cable. If it still don’t work, call Verizon to see if they can check, or a tech might need to come out

Depends. If you open it up and see a black box inside of it, you already have the latest ONT/modem. If it’s not the case, they will probably keep that white box until you upgrade your internet speed
