It’s super refreshing seeing a booktuber read Kindle books! As someone who primarily reads e-books it’s nice to see that not everyone only reads hardback/paperbacks!

This has made me realise that when I do my haul videos, I always forget ebooks and audiobooks too! I also bought beach read this month after hearing only food things, 99p on Kindle, so massive bargain. I read binti, but it felt too rushed for me, so didn't carry on with the series. Like you, I have only read book 1 of noughts and crosses. Look forward to hearing your thoughts in your wrap ups 🙂
@Anesjournal4 жыл бұрын
it's so easy to forget. love a good 99p copy, Although that's how I end up with a mountain of forgotten e-copies 😆. Novellas are not my favourite thing for this reason, but hopefully I like Binti.

Kindred is such a good book - its hard to read but at the same time her writing keeps you coming back to the story! I bought the broken earth trilogy from n k Jemisin recently and I can't wait to get into them I have heard such good things about her. I have bought about 10 books since start of quarantine and I need to get to them but due to my library being up in a minimal capacity again I am getting all my holds which is good/bad.
@Anesjournal4 жыл бұрын
I can imagine Kindred might be a little heavy, so i'll have to keep that in mind when I start the book. I really hope you enjoy The Broken Earth trilogy, for me I had to get past the 1st 50 pages before I got hooked. I feel you, the pressure when all your holds come in at once and you only have so long to get to everything.

I’ve been feeling the same about YA so it’s nice to hear it coming from someone else. It’s kind of a bummer because those books used to be my jam, that said, it’s opened me up to so many awesome mature novels. And Chloe Brown was super cute!! A very sweet and genuine read ❤️

When you said you don't have access to your library, that hit me on another level lol. I do miss libraries, such wonderful resources I forgot bbc made an adaption of naughts and crosses! I remember it being really popular when I was in school but I haven't read it! I have book one which I purchased within the last year or so, looking forward to reading it cause I never actually knew what it was about haha

Felt the same way reading the short story from N.K but I wanna give it another chance. I really cannot wait to hear your thoughts on Kingdom of Souls. I’ve been told i need to read “Get a Life, Chloe Brown. (Obviously this will be a long comment the more I watch it lol) I seriously need to add NK to my bookshelves. Honestly watching everyone else get these books makes me feel like I should buy them all right away. The paperback editions actually look great too so I may be finding a justification. ALSO YAY a Tochi book!!!! Lol Noughts and Crosses was recommended to us in our book club. I am VERY intrigued because of the switch.

I'm going to hound you to add more NKJ to your shelves, I'm a fangirl after 1 book 😆. Give noughts and crosses a go, I was obsessed when first read it, but I was like 17, so hopefully it stands the test of time

Such a great haul! There's so many books I'm interested to hear more about - I have The City We Became and The Fifth Season waiting for me on my shelves, but would especially love to learn more about her other series as they're not mentioned nearly as much. Also I'm from Australia and only ever heard about the Noughts & Crosses series after watching some UK booktubers, it sounds great though!

* Whispers * read the fifth season 😄 I'm really intrigued about her other works, the Dreamblood duology especially as I've not really heard anything on this. So it seems nought and crosses is quite a British thing then, good to know!

I read The Shadowed Sun back in April and it was by far my favourite Jemisin book! It gets very dark and graphic at times (i'll write the big TWs at the end of the comment, not sure if you want to know but I don't feel good praising the book without that info attached) but overall such a brilliant story, amazing characters and some rarely discussed but important themes. Also recently got Who Fears Death and Kingdom of Souls from your list, they sound so exciting! And those covers! tw: on-page rape & attempted rape, parental abuse
