Not surprising, considering Crinacle's preferences. I don't get the obsession with younger audiophiles with treble, I can only assume it matches well with the genres they are listening to in the digital realm where treble is well controlled on recordings. But for anything with acoustic/miced instruments and not the best recordings they end up sound piercing and ear shattering even for older listeners, which is kind of funny when you think about it. Thank you for talking about music from the genres you listen to. Not enough review channels do this, almost as if they are afraid of limiting their audience by admitting preferences, so thanks for that. It helps immensely!

GM Randy ☕️, I have the Dioko…and it’s not in my IEM’s stable. That midrange suck out too damn much …not even EQ can save it . And yes, I got mine directly from the Singapore store that confirmed that I had the latest and correct filter installed. Take care and enjoy the weekend 😎

I love my 7hz Timeless AE set, but it does take a minute for my head to get used to the planar sound. If you want a mid-fi set (~$200) that sounds really great and doesn't suffer many of the planar sonic artifacts, I would recommend the Tangzu x HBB Wu Heyday. They have a great balanced sound, with solid low and high end extension and good soundstage. For a more affordable set, the Letshuoer S12 Pros are still a very good option, and can usually be found for about ~$135.

I think the Salnotes is a design concept as it has it in top left corner and bottom right corner and on the headphones themself. There seems to be several under the Salnotes moniker. 7HZ Salnotes Zero comes to mind.

The 7Hz timeless are great. On the back of those I also bought some 7Hz Salnotes Zero to use with some Bluetooth earhooks for when I didn't want to risk taking the Timeless out, which at around $20 are a bargain.

I blew out the 7hz zero the same day I got them from amazon delivery.. 20 mins later blew them clean out. I decided to eat the 20 bux and not return it since I pushed hard bass on them at high volumes myself.

You should try the s12 pro, it is one of the best cost benefit iems up to this day.

Had the Diokos for a bit now 100% agree with you. Definitely need to boost the 40-50khz range by about 4db with q value around 0.5 you dont want it to bleed into the mids too much. The peek is around 8khz, drop that to your preference. I did -3db @ 1.2 Q. Most things sound good. Acoustic music is good as well as Steely Dan, Fleetwood Mac, etc.

When the Dioko came out they were the first planar IEMs that were tuned how I assumed a planar IEM would have sounded based on my experience with planar headphones; clean, clear and open, while every other planar was bombastic or super excited in some way. The stock tips were all pretty bad for me, but spinfits fit perfectly and helped them fit snug in my ears which also has the effect of blocking all the vent holes on the inner wall to add more fullness to the bass (which in turn softens the treble making it very listenable). I still listen to them from time to time when I want an ultra clean presentation of sound.

Timeless II is coming out, might be a good one to check out. The S12pro is somewhere between the two, its still a little shouty but very good to EQ. As for the Cayin RU7, that's a 1-bit DAC, not an R2R, the Cayin RU6 is R2R. Both are very, very good though.

I got these very early on, when they were released. I felt like there was something wrong with my pair - there was absolutely no bass whatsoever. Pushing them in with my fingers only helped slightly. But the nail in the coffin was of course, the unrealistically twinkly treble, the bane of Chifi tuned IEMs.

This IEM only stood out if I looked up extreme bass boosted tracks.. and it still hit considerably harder for those then any IEM I still own today.. but I hated that damn IEM so much I gave it away to a fuckin stranger... free

Thanks for this. When I first heard about these, I got pretty excited. Planar Magnetic IEMs for that price seemed too good to be true. I mean, I'm in the car with you on missing high-end sounds, that's why I am a headphone only guy now. Expensive speakers are wasted on me. So thanks for the honest review, Randy. @@jb678901 Agreed, when I decided I had way too many iems and headphones just sitting around, I spend a few days comparing all of them and decided to keep my Moondrop Starfields. For the money, I am quite happy with them.They are surprisingly immersive. I'm on a fixed income now in retirement, but when I was working, I spent way too much on my collection. It was good to sell most of it and put some money back in the bank. Between my Airmotiv GR1s with a zen DAC II and my starfields, I am content. Finally.

Every time I find an IEM that sounds good to me it stops working in only a few months. I work in a machine shop and wear IEMs my entire shift every day so I know I'm outside the normal use case for them. But they should last longer than that.

If you are really concerned about them breaking them just get used Galaxy buds pro. You can get them for like 50 bucks, and they sound on par with most 100 dollar iems like the moon drop aria.

@@niccster1061 the battery on wireless headphones don't last long enough and I hate Bluetooth with a passion. And even if I did use them, they'd likely stop working just like the others. The issues I have isn't usually cord related. The drivers themselves just give out.
