I did an anesthesia residency for 5 years and I have been working as an anesthesiologist for 3 years. I work around 160 hours of daytime work and extra 7 x24 hours night shift in 1 month . My work time is about 288 hours for 1 month. And i also take care of the intensive care unit. 1 specialist stays on duty at night. I get about 10 emergency surgeries in 1 night and I also take care of a 10-bed intensive care unit. Finally, I could not stand this intensity and resigned.

I have a very important question here! I had a laparoscopic surgery done on July 22nd and 2 of my side top teeth were knocked out!! They weren’t cracked or chipped. How does this even happen? How hard did my anesthesiologist shove that breathing tube down my throat? I’m so angry! I don’t have the money to fix this and my smile is ruined! I’m on disability and do not have dental insurance. Please tell me you have some advice for me!!

I had an operation under general anesthetic 2 years ago for an operation on my foot. I suffered very bad reactions I seem to lose my memory of people for a few days and I suffered some strange hallucinations about 4 weeks later. My memory took months to return to normal. It was suggested I suffered from some sort of delirium. I going to have a foot fusion which is 4 to 4.5 hours and I'm worried I will suffer the same is their anything I can so to stop the delirium a second time as it was quite frightening

When I was a 3rd year medical student rotating through Obgyn, I spent time in an operating room and had a chance to talk with an anesthesia resident. Our brief convo about what anesthesiology entailed was enough to spark an interest!

Pro tip if your sharpie keeps getting stolen: replace black cap with yellow sharpie cap. I did this at my last job (non-medical). That scene of each attending having such different styles reminded me of a problem I encountered way too often with management at my last job. Each manager assigning cases and saying it was top priority but never communicating with the other manager. One day I was over it and just called both managers into an office and told them to communicate with each other and come get me when they made a decision and I just walked out 😂 But yeah, don't do that with attendings if you're a resident.
@MaxFeinsteinMD3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip, I will try that!
