Wales should be treated more kindly yes, but, it's a miracle that we aren't amongst nations that are independent and then could warring against each other on the same isle (the troubles for a start), the peace is a blessing, the union should be maintained but with reformation to give equal opportunity to each.

A beautiful speech, appreciable and shareable in the specific issues it addresses, but also in a more general context. And not only is what he says intelligent and profound, but it's also a pleasure to simply listen to him speak. Thanks to him I, like many others, discovered the beauty of the Welsh accent. Wales can be as proud of this idealistic, passionate and generous son as he is of being Welsh. I hope he will speak again in this context

Superb! Every word of this hits home with me, and you've managed to encapsulate all that I feel about the state of this country. Why is it, that the best actors, are the ones that should really be MPs- yet the MPs we actually end up with, are the just the worst actors of them all?!

They are repeating a party line. After his Raymond Williams Memorial lecture, he was asked if he would enter politics, and Sheen responded words to the effect that he was free to say what he wanted, when he wanted, and didn't have to be alligned to a political party. The irony is, Sheen here, and there, was not acting (except when quoting) but our MPs do all the time, whether deliberately or not.

If I could give multiple thumbs up I would probably be at 20 only halfway through the video. "The Austrian psychotherapist Alfred Adler said ‘It is the individual who is not interested in his fellow men who has the greatest difficulties in life and provides the greatest injury to others. It is from among such individuals that all human failures spring.’ If you don’t start with people, then you shouldn’t start at all. Empathy, fellow feeling, compassion, no matter where we might end up these must always be where we start from."

@@raymisnt Bit late but i'd like to update you after his Interview today! - He's helping with the creation of local journalism within S.Wales first and then throughout Wales, making them paid and apprentice positions and recreating small newspaper publishing areas. He's also doing this with fiction and non-fiction writing apprenticeships. - He's given back his OBE because he felt it was 'hypocritical' after what he learnt about the Monarchy. - He's contributing with grassroots campaigns for funding for community projects in the Neath area, although not entirely sure on this one. Basically, he came out as Indy-curious with a heavy leaning on pro today. He's still there, but remember he's had a kid this year.

@MayaJagger 3 жыл бұрын
@@muckraker636 To add to your comments... You can find out even more about what he is doing and what he's done via KZbin, Twitter and more importantly inside Port Talbot and the communities of Wales. What about the Passion of Port Talbot that took two years to plan and three days to lead and perform, funding the Homeless World Cup in Cardiff to make sure it wasn't cancelled and that video he did for Pads4Dads, to raise awareness about period poverty and to make talking about periods less awkward for dads. Then there was that lecture on Welsh identity for Raymond Williams annual memorial lecture, as well as how he challenges toxic masculinity in both his day to day and public life, showing emotion, letting himself be vulnerable. I don't know how one man can have the capacity to do it all. He does so happen to have a will of steel, but we also know there is no weakness in being kind and only the frightened ones are cruel. We know that by now, don't we? It is 2021. More off the top of my head... Educating parents on cyberbullying, he and his magnificent beard entertaining us with silly videos and Staged through lockdown, on top of Good Omens and the Prodigal Son. He came home after filming in Oxford and the south of England, wondering why the people of Port Talbot had lost so much? Why couldn't Wales have this too? Every time he went home something had vanished. Journalism, mental health support, clubs, jobs. The steelworks was under threat of closure. He noticed these things. Anyone who's escaped their small town mind, but especially anyone in his wealthy position, thinking selfishly would go "oh thank fuck I got out of there, what a shit hole." No. He did what no one does, he left his new life, in glamorous LA! He wanted to know more about his hometown. What else had Port Talbot lost? How could he help? He wanted to know more, he wanted to listen and so... He came home. Not only for good, to do good. The money he makes through acting now goes to fund his activism. Who does that? Michael Sheen does that. Honestly, if you google all of this you'll find exactly what I'm talking about, you won't be disappointed. He doesn't assign to a specific political party and is all about listening. He wants decentralised power, to empower individuals and communities. He is inspiring, he is compassionate, he is empathetic, is what he bloody well is.

Tredegar gave us the NHS. How is Tredegar doing today? How has it been supported by successive Unionist governments? Where's the gratitude? Was it or Bevan recognised by Danny Boyles opening ceremony at the 2012 olympics? St David urged us to do 'the little things' in life. Who notices the things, little or big, perpetrated on Cymru that keeps us in servility? There are reasons why we are doing so badly. A good relationship thrives on give and take in equal measure. When the take is massively in one direction with no sign of change, it's time to join YesCymru!

Sadly I believe, the system is sickening I agree but also it is producing and enabling the sickness to grow, reproduce and fester because like most of our government and legal systems it is not sufficiently guarded from ABUSE. Forward thinkers/paranoid technicians :D are what we need to act immediately to safeguard our sick child, that would make Daddy Nye proud! Shame to those in the business of making sickness.

The terminally disengaged careerist politician has no concept of engaging with those within community - they are fixed in their models of 'Leadership' is... they failure to engaged, the failure to listen... LISTENING is absolutely essential, no 'consultation', but face to face engagement... Politicians are dangerously alienated from their true lives of community, how can they represent those who are trapped by poverty? Politicians are either fearful or deliberately reluctant to share their power, their status and the pressure of their peers... so they retreat behind the high walls of parliament and the Media classes, with the political classes are servants of the status quo - and the status quo do not want change, and do not listen...

About 40% of Irish people can speak Irish, and only a small percentage of that consider it their primary language. Hundreds of years of repression have a massive and lasting effect. Icelandic is dying out as a language because everyone in Iceland speaks English and nobody outside Iceland speaks Icelandic. Many regional and minority languages are dying out all over the world because if you want to talk to someone from India or Germany or the US or Nigeria or wherever, then your best option is almost always English.
@anonymousanonymous2143
@anonymousanonymous2143 Жыл бұрын
@@Auriflamme I get your point and would agree that there needs to be a consensus on a common language to be used trans-borders (which of course is English because of... well, let's not speak of historical reasons...!). However, speaking in this context as a born Welshman (albeit brought up as a monolingal English speaker), I think it important to be able to be bilingual. Therefore to speak both the commonly agreed international language of commerce and also to speak the language of one's own heritage, to preserve cultural identity and pride.
