Anfield Road Stand EXCLUSIVE - First look inside the new upper tier

Anfield will have its largest attendance since 1977 when Manchester United visit on Sunday, providing that Monday evening’s Anfield Road Expansion test event goes successfully.
7,500 supporters are due to attend a Q&A with manager Jurgen Klopp on Monday evening, testing the facilities in both the upper and lower tiers of the stand in order for the club to receive a safety certificate ahead of a phased opening the new upper tier.
Should that all go smoothly, an additional 7,000 supporters will be in the new Anfield Road Stand upper tier on Sunday, with an attendance therefore around 57,000.
Anfield has been operating with attendances around 50,000 thus far this season, with the upper tier closed and small sections of the lower tier also not in use, such as the back two rows of the lower tier and a small section on the Main Stand side.

Hoping & praying for a successful test event! Had hospitality tickets booked at the new stand, and will be there for the man utd game from Singapore 🙏🏼 Dream come true for my dad and I who have been lifelong liverpool fans… we were so worried when we heard about the whole situation at the start but glad the club at least reached out to us and told us that our bookings will remain as it stands subject to the success of this test event. I was in the Paddock right on the wall at the front corner next to the Kop from 73 to 75 then we (Dad & I) moved to The Annie Rd End . As a Six Year Old sitting on that concrete wall in The Paddock The Kop was the biggest scariest thing I could imagine. Then one day my Dad said to me , relax son they,'re on your side. I think both new Stands look amazing , I hope they carry on and do The Kop and the SKD Stands

The view from the back when the ball goes up - will you be able to see it? I doubt it. Skd can be easily done by purchasing houses on the back which the club owned before. That needs to be identical to main stand. The Kop needs to mirror ARE but a single tier like the wall at Dortmund

The Kop done to this scale and width has to be done it would look amazing and extremely intimidating to anyone playing against us. Im just wondering if its possible to do the Sir Kenny stand the same profile as the first two levels of the main stand and same width too on the upper tier. If both remain stands were done like that then you would easily be looking at 70k+ capacity probably as big as we can expect I'm guessing.

@sarahashun1180 see the planning permission that was submitted for the anfield road end it was submitted to show capacity ability for up to 70k with additional buses and fan zones for before and after the match, that planning permission was passed by the council. They obviously show capability well over what they were going for to show 61-62k was easily manageable. I don't think it's as hard as being made out to at least do one more stand without major changes in transport, extra buses, hotel's close to the ground for non local fans again not too hard to introduce. Even adding 7-8k capacity on the Sir Kenny still bellow the figure that's already passed planning permission previously on the Anfield road redevelopment.

Looks superb and is long overdue, I know there is issues with doing the remaining two stands, but I still think there’s scope to widen the KD stand upper tier that’s a complete mess each end, the kop (I’ve had a season ticket in it for nearly 40 years) isn’t a great stand, I remember seeing the old kop terrace for the first time it was awesome inspiring and daunting, this one was never a great build or design the biggest thing at first was having McDonald’s in it. It’s the most famous stand in the football world, I know Walton breck road makes it difficult but it’s not impossible. It’s very shallow for a start, also you only have to look at the way technology has moved on, look at spurs kop end the tree support saves tons of space.

Further redevelopment of Anfield is not only desirable it is essential. When the decision to remain was taken it would have been done so in the knowledge that a full expansion was not only required but feasible and logistically possible. To limit capacity to 61000 and spend £200m in doing so is ludicrous so it must be assumed that, transport and local infrastructure issues notwithstanding, the Anfield rebuild has reached the halfway point. An end product in the region of 75000 seems a realistic and reasonable outcome.

Should of built a 80,000 seat stadium.. Could of built it within grounds owned, would of just had to move slightly different angle. People argue they wouldn't have had the infrastructure for such a large crowd.. Just build the proper infrastructure. Nothing is impossible with modern building methods.. Stadium looks great and i hope they find a way to increase capacity on kenny stand and kop end. Maybe with safe standing.. Would love to hear anfield noise with 80,000

In time those houses behind Sir Kenny's Stand will be purchased, it's a long way off yet, but once SKD stands rebuilt should take total capacity close to 75,000.

It's not infrastructure at the stadium that is the problem -- it's the transport infrastructure to get that number of people to and from a ground built in a residential area with narrow streets and next to no parking Not to mention the fact that there are real people in real houses living within 100 feet or so of the ground who would have to leave their homes if that scale of re-development took place.
