I thought the most interesting thing about this episode was the window into Wesley's backstory as an abused child. The Wesley arc is (imo) one of the best things about this series.

Agreed about Wesley. Some of the most funny and heartbreaking scenes in the Buffy-verse.

Obviously this episode was a homage to The Exorcist. Some disturbing scenes with the possession, but then The Demon saying the child was actually pure evil in human form, a great chilling twist to the episode.

I love the episode title. Not only did the boy have a demon "under his skin," but the actual boy really got under the skin of the demon.

My favorite character in this episode was the badass nun. She wasn't fazed in the least to have a vampire in the church... 🙂

When I first watched this episode, I saw all the twists coming ahead of time. Except for that last one. Wow. I did NOT see that coming at all. LOL

This is one of those instances where saying psychopath is putting it mildly. Kid is probably closer to a sociopath 🫤

Such a good episode, especially in hindsight. Always loved all the twists, and how strangely dark that ending is.

for a throw away episode it does so much, back and forth with was a parent upto no good, then was it the children, then when the demon showed u find out it was trapped and so on. but then the heart ache of doyle being mentioned towards wes, i felt for wes feeling like he was a replacment, but he is his own char, i just think angel needs to adjust first to not having doyle about. i always feel buffy show is He-man, chosen one always do good type. angel show feels like She-Ra, a redemption chars arch

Doyle was not super helpful in Angel Investigations, except for the visions of course. But he was a friend to Angel, someone who gave him a purpose beyond just killing other vampires. And Angel doesn't have a lot of friends, so it's understandable that he has trouble processing Doyle's death. (I think Angel has grieved for all the people Angelus has killed , but I guess the grief is different if you kill someone vs if someone you know well dies.) Wesley has to prove his worth to Angel Investigation not because he 'replaced' Doyle, but because Angel (and the audience) had a rather bad impression of him long before he came to L.A. regardless of the depts his knowledge. He also has to prove his worth to himself, and I think that is the crux of most of his inadequacies: he has to believe he can ‘work the field’ for it to be true.

Unrelated, but just because something "is cultural" doesn't mean it's not abusive. Just sayin'.

@@maruskaehrensdorfer I think you have to reread the comment: it seems to me you missed a 'not' in the sentence.

You must not have watched the Harry Potter movies. Brussels sprouts are great covered in melted cheese.
