Angel - Most Intro Sequences (Max Possible Quality)

Only the last season of Angel was in HD, and even then it was only in 720p HD, not 1080p FHD, but it still looks better. Every other one was in SD (480p)
The refresh rate wasn't fixable in this video, as the first intro sequence was at 29.97 FPS, whereas every other intro sequence after that was at 23.978 FPS. The first episode of Angel appears to only be in 4:3 mode, which is bizarre, because it looks like the source footage they would have back at the station in 1999 would have to be in 16:9 (or something similar), as the intros after this use the same footage, and how the episodes linking the source footage for the intro sequence together might suggest, it looks like they might have recorded the first episode (the "pilot"), but didn't make an intro yet, then filmed a few more episodes, then made an intro sequence, and then retroactively putting that new intro on the first 5 episodes that didn't already have one. You follow? Probably not, it's a mess to explain.
Basically, season 1 of Angel is full of anomalies, in the first 5 or 6 episodes, at least.

Season 4 had its ups and downs but the credits flow the best - note how the beat hits with Gunn striking and it just stays perfectly in sync through the end

@@robertbell307 Which I feel was fair, as a fellow writer. The contract was clear about the state of the character. You don't just go and get pregnant mid plot and expect things to rotate around you. Which he did still accomodate. Personally I'd have killed off her character. Joss was ultimately pretty damn kind and still gets panned for not smiling through it.

The theme makes me weep. Imagine: an angel cast from heaven because of a technicality yet that same technicality can bring him back, only if he could get the attention of heavens gate… doing good to get back in, but then being good is the reward in itself..?

I recall when it was airing I didn't give it the time of day because assumed it was too cheesy. I picked it up for the first time in 2008 and I've loved it ever since. I wish I could go back and watch it while it was premiering.

There is? Was it released on Blu-ray and I just couldn’t find it but it DOES exist? “AI” Upscaling doesn’t count as it introduces a lot of artifacts and such. It’s usually WORSE than the SD version. Actual remasters are what we are looking for.

Yup found it. Very pointless. It’s like importing the DVD version into an NLE like Resolve and just exporting at 1080p, but with effects that mess up the footage.

@@iRedMCYT the aspect ratio is good, because they used amazon prime version of the show. I still believe it's the best version out there. Also it has upscaled version all behind the scenes and bloopers

@@BabyN7 The aspect ratio is the same as DVD, and again, AI upscale is no replacement whatsoever for a real high res scan. At least the blooper video file I have wouldn’t be broken, but that’s the only thing worth it there. I’d download it but the last few times I torrented, our ISP got a bug up their holes.

Because it was made in the early 2000s when most people only had SD screens, and it wasn’t popular enough apparently for someone to go and find the original film rolls and transfer a higher quality version.

the first two intros are the same, i assumed the 2nd was suppose to be for alexis denisof as the replacement for glenn quinn. also u dont have season 4 v2 when they added andy hallett to the intro and removed the angel cutout on the roof. and season 5 v1 before mercedes mcnab was added to the intro, in addition amy acker was still fred before illyria was added. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bpS1aptpfLqnmsU
