Cordelia was not the love of Angel’s life. That’s Buffy. Cordelia and Angel were slowly and progressively developing feelings for one another other, but sadly both were taken on two different roads, and the potential relationship was never realised. I personally really hated the Cordy/Angel romance the show tried to push them in. They worked really well and had a great dynamic as friends. Cordelia is the last person you’d expect from watching Buffy to become the person that knows Angel the best and become his best and closest friend. I preferred their Brother/Sister relationship. The romance always felt gross to me.

⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@arc7375 I don’t think Buffy is either. She was the only person he could love after having a soul. They are each others first love but as Darla said she was new. Not to say they didn’t have an epic love story but of their life? Buffy was barely 22 when the series ended. They hardly spent time together. They both said at one point too that they’re always fighting evil. I think they had one normal-ish day when she came to LA. They didn’t even have a relationship. Not really. Cordy dated Xander more than we seen them together. Plus him knowing her when she was 15 wasn’t she wearing braces in the flashback? She would’ve been younger. People say Cordy and Angel is gross but they don’t even mention that. At least Cordy is over 18. I hate that the show skipped over that. Cordy died at 22 as well. The series always aged her up on Angel and never mentioned her age except once which was “I’m in my 20’s” but she was literally 21 when she said that. I do think they should’ve kept Cordy and Angel as brother sister / best friends. There friendship is the strongest. I think he would pick Cordy actually looking at it from an unbiased viewpoint. Best friend / and a family member as he’s mentioned loads is more powerful than first love that you barely see or know anymore.
