I think the Aki and Angel ship gives me a similar feeling that the classic X-men Rogue and Gambit ship does. I know it's not the same but I think they're in the same... Flavor? Well, the big difference between is that Gambit is blatant about his attraction to Rogue, he just can't touch her. Aki doesn't display any blatant signs of attraction to Angel, but they're similar in the fact that not only Angel can't be touched without the approaching death but also because Aki is THE LAST PERSON WHO SHOULD TOUCH HIM... And yet he's also not that scared of doing it. There's a sense of danger to that and the feeling of danger is often turned into something sexy in the minds of many humans. Not to mention that, tbh, they simply have great chemistry together. They vibe well without annoying each other. As a heterosexual cis dude who does not care for yaoi and has read the manga, not only I can quite easily see those two dating, I can also effortless see them married, chilling at the balcony in a house by the beach talking about how they're glad they ditched their work and that the Gun devil was dealt with in their absence while Aki pours the morning coffee for both of them. Aki reads his newspaper while Angel is petting a cat. I don't know where the cat came from. Is it Nyanko? I think it's Nyanko. Does that mean that the Angel's touch no longer drains life? Is Power and Denji sleeping in the background? I dunno but I like the scenario I just built in my head. It makes me want to build a lofi playlist and draw a fan art of the scene.

While, I'm not too familiar with X-Men, I can say that I definitely see the parallels between each of the respective pairings. And yeah, while I don't actually ship AkixAngel myself, I do think the inability to potentially touch the one you care about makes for a really compelling scenario in general, especially in combination with Aki's situation which just adds to it. In addition, the scenario you put is definitely very compelling too, the imagery is definitely evident! Thank you for taking the time to write that out!
