I dont agree at all. He plays awesome but to "cover" the amazingly written drum parts of Lombardo or Peart you should play them right. That being said this is still better then Bostaph fumbling through all of Lombardos fills in front of 10,000 people

You nailed it brilliantly, esp. the hardcore double-bass break near the end. it's intense, man. Some Kind of a Sport I guess ! Lombardo was the shit. I love the middle tempo riff a lot. It appears to be sampled on Public Enemy's "She watched Channel Zero". Really, that 1983-1992 era was probably the richest period ever in Musical History : Rock, Pop, Hardcore, Electro, Grunge, Hard-Rock, Trash, Rap, Cross-Over, ... this was the Best since the first Humans. And Angel of Death is highly representative of that glorious era, Lombardo opening a whole new way to play Drums. This Anti-Nazi song was also a Big F... You to the Reagan's Establishment supporting Proto-Nazis in Latin America, Brazil, Chile, Argentina, Nicaragua, Honduras, Guatemala... Slayer grew some serious balls with that song. That's epic and refreshing to see you, Man, keeping it Fresh and Alive for all those Millenials Kids to discover it

“A” for effort and having your own take on this song. This is another great example of how each drummer really has their own distinct feel and groove. Doesn’t feel or sound like Dave playing at all and there is nothing wrong with that. That is part of the issue with finding someone to replace Dave. He’s a unique player that is almost impossible to copy.

Me too. I’m old, so I got to see Slayer and Forbidden in little venues, basically a step up from bars, and Paul was a monster in Forbidden, but he just isn’t Dave. No one is. Now there are faster drummers and all that, but I haven’t seen anyone play as fast as Dave with the power and precision.

Geoff Cowan another member of the 80s brigade 👍👍 Seeing these bands in small venues was so different than today. People filming shit with cell phones 😂 You would have gotten stomped for doing that close to the stage 😉I miss those days. Crowds these days are so tame My favorite thrash show of all time was slayer and overkill on the reign in pain tour. Both bands just killed. But yes Dave has a very unique style. I know he is a lefty and I could swear he leads his fills on the left hand sometimes. It fucks me up when I watch him 😂

TheRealGEO you know Ringo is the same way. Yeah we saw Testament at a little place where the ceiling was so low Chuck’s head was almost touching in. Chuck would have jumped off the stage and beat your ass if you didn’t get in the pit! James Murphy was in it at the time. Death Angel, Mordred, Vio-Lence, all the good stuff. We’re only 150 miles from San Francisco, so we got to see a lot of good stuff. :)
