Angel never disappoints but this is just amazing. Her best yet. Such a star. Deserves to be seen and heard by a huge audience. Sensational performance. The pre album released tracks become even better against the backdrop of this longer length footage. Sublime.

Inspiring... to let go and leave the past in the past, to let old dreams die, to leave your parents behind, to live your own life, to answer the call to be you. To renew, to become the present. Thank you for this.

I am in tears by the beauty and the pain, the fears and wanting to bury that negative parts that attach to us. At least that is what I got from watching this masterpiece. My parents passed three months apart, but my mothers death still haunts me as we had a strained and complicated relationship. I know my mother loved me, but it was difficult to please her. When Angel heard her mother on the phone, I cried. I wished so much to hear my mothers voice just one last time, to hear "I love you", as she did not say throughout my life until she was in hospice. Hearing her say "I'm sorry and I love you", was words I never thought I'd hear from her, but it meant the world to me. And I just want to hear it once more. The part where Angel pushes her body into the tub seemed like she was leaving the past to make way for the present and letting go of the fear, pain and anguish. And that gave me a sign that I must do the same in order to make way for the present, and without fear, pain and any negative thoughts. I hope I didn't get the message wrong, but I had to let this out. Thank you Angel, for letting us see the beauty that is your art. And I felt all of it.🙏🏻💛🦋

I think that’s such a beautiful testimony and story! I don’t think there’s a “right way” to perceive this piece. I think this and the album itself are both very different for different people. The takeaway and the message can be applied to so many different things going on in so many people’s lives. I think that was her intent with this. Give you her thoughts, her experiences, etc. but make it vague enough that you can apply it to yourself and learn what you need from it. I know I certainly got what I needed from this album, and I am so thankful for it and Angel.

As a gay man I truly felt the embarrassment when the bartender asked "how does the fellow look like" and the lady said "you deserve a handsome fellow". Thanks for bringing that up Angel ❤ it shows how it's hard out there for LGBTQ+ people, even if there is much love as well. It's so uncomfortable sometimes when you don't know if you can trust strangers to come out.

It hurts when you plug and find artist that you love to pay the 15 to 20$ ticket and 7 years later hopefully they are where they want to be and you’re paying more than you want to for that same ticket at a venue 5 times larger. It means you picked a winner. =p p.s. do you think she thinks she’s made it irregardless of the pain in her music? I hope so. If not she’s going to be writing the same song for life.

This is so touching and gentle. it made my eyes wet. An album about these themes could be very depressed. But Angel is so gentle and great. She put all the melancholies, regrets and tears in. Then just turned them into beautiful tenderness, hope and release.

What a sad but hopeful short film. I started crying at Through The Fires because it’s like “yeah, life is shitty but let’s create our own utopia and be high as hope. Chasing the sun is also such a perfect closing for a record about love, loss and grief. Angel Olsen is such an important story teller. I’m so obsessed and I can’t stop listening to the new record. 🫶🏾❤️

This is gonna be my record of 2022. My parents are still alive. But I can feel her pain of having to move on from her parents. I just fell in love with her voice I heard at a record store. So needless to say I waited for this album. It’s probably not leaving my turntable (when I go buy it).

That’s your own opinion. It’s very wrong, but it’s your opinion. If you’ve been a fan for “long time” then you know every album of hers is different than the rest. She’s never complacent. It this era isn’t for you, then leave it and let the rest of us enjoy it.
