Sister, you get the award of the year! I'm so very proud of you for putting and pushing yourself through school and coming out on top to show those in-laws who's top dog. I'm also proud of you for knowing the truth of God's love and not turning back, no matter how much your husband's family begged you. Their fake love and respect for you is nothing compared to God's love. Thank you for standing for the truth and telling his family the truth. I would've been very disappointed in you if you had accepted their offer and went with them. Thanks for sharing your sad but inspiring and satisfying story!

Wonderful story. Do not give them credit for torturing your path to success, as if you never had it in you to start with! Also Its not the old tradition, its the people. Twisting/corrupt rules can happen in traditional culture or church. But thats some bs from the OGs. Church/bible has come a long way from excluding people, its overdue for hmong to use tradition righteously too.

I still don't have a wedding but I dont care for one. Ill do an American wedding soon but only inviting people who matters. Now that she's old and nobody wants her especially the nyab she loved so much so she moved in with us and ass kissing me so much. It reminds me of my own where in my first marriage, my parents were using the traditional ways/relatives to obtain my dowry then when I wanted to divorce the traditional way, all of a sudden, I didn’t exist. That’s a shitty rules and I’ve never heard it, that’s why your father in law got karma. My advice to you is don’t be there nyab and don’t call them mother and father in law. And be a good rode model to the old and young generations so they don’t do the same thing to pog nrauj. I think that in the past, I’ve heard a lot of neej neeg about these stories and at the end, the nyab had to take care of the old mom and father in law, you be the one that gets the karma. This lady is too passionate. Just be grateful for the lesson they have taught you so you don't follow their paths. There's nothing wrong with the culture and traditions. The problem lies upon your husband's parents and not the culture or traditions. Blame it on them please! You're 18 years old and can make your own decisions. No need to add or include toxic and cruel people like your husband's family in your life. Your husband is also 18 years old, let him make his own decisions. He should know whats right from wrong. You owe no one nothing, life is too short, do what makes you happy. Tell your husband parents that you've already learned your lesson, now its time for them to learn theirs.

Everything else/traditions is man made and means nothing. That should be the only reason why you can’t go back, Not how they treated you. It’s sounds like if you could go back in time and they took you in, you would accept it VS knowing Jesus now. Check your salvation and be born again. Forgive them and move on with your life.
