Harris Re-nee holy shit. I didn’t notice that. Then again, if one really knows Angela Davis and even Nikki, they’re the very last people who would vow for the celebration of literal appearances. People are dying and there are much bigger issues!

This was wonderful to see, Angela Davis was a professor of mine and UC Santa Cruz and I've had the honor of having her make me delicious tofu (yes it was good), every interaction with her was transformative. During the same period I met Nikki Giovanni at a poetry reading so this was informative and nostalgic for me. I recall during a Black history celebration, Angela introduced me and I recited Nikki's Ego Tripping

The strength and resilience of Angela Davis and Nikki Giovanni are extraordinary. Lovely to see them happy and healthy. Nikki Giovanni, my grandmother was an incredible caterer, master cook and baker. Her biscuits were legendary. I loved this conversation and appreciate the mission of the organization. I do think the fanning out got a bit distracting at times as the hosts were so invested in letting Nikki and Angela know of their adoration that they often cut them off in the middle of saying something or spoke too much about themselves. Nikki Giovanni and Angela Davis are the type of women that you ask thoughtful questions and just let them go. They both could speak on anything for hours on end.

THIS...an essential conversation. Life and death are in the power of the tongue. These two women have spoken and continue to #SpeakLife. Humbled and thankful to hear the #sound of life from the Black women of yesterday and today. Those who still struggle finding their voice, should take heed to the words spoken on Friday, May 8th and ACT on them. May THIS SOUND continue to be heard in every Black woman's village until every black girl's life reverberates it. #BlackWomenEMPOWER women and their girls, communities and 🌐.

I understand admiration however I'm thinking valuable time was lost with Nikki Giovanni fanning out rather than asking questions that would have resulted in such wisdom. Angela's portion was more substance-filled. My interest in sharing this is because the importance is hearing about real life thoughts and feelings of the icons rather than how to make biscuits! C'mon this is Nikki Giovanni. Also, Vanessa's constant interruptions, interjections and nonverbals were distractions. Take notes from Morgan's professional demeanor.

Angela’s bringing up Marielle Franco was perfect. She shows a clear demarcation between her approach to black liberation to Nikki’s. I respect Nikki’s self centered battle but Angela’s input is far more powerful in that it inclusive. A movement of liberation can not be founded on exclusionary principles. Not to diminish Nikki’s legendary contribution.
