I met this dear Lady twice, if that is possible. Both times we met at the television critics association yearly meeting in Pasadena, CA. She was receiving an award from this group and she was very, very nice and appreciative to this critics group. The second year I said hello to her she said , “oh yes, hello Wade, it’s good to see you again.” Wow! She remembered my name ! She was a true lady and wonderfully nice, too, and let me say, I met several people that were not nice but downright rude. Dame Angela was a true star.

In the late 80s and early 90s I worked at the Hollywood Roosevelt front desk and I watched a filming of a Murder She Wrote episode. I was so impressed because after so many takes with stand-ins, Angela came out and did the scene in one take and that was a wrap. I was mesmerized by her, having watched her HBO performance of Ms. Lovett many many times... Thank you for sharing this......

Angela was aware that there were movie actors that were not eligible for benefits because they were short of hours on the screen. I believe that she knew who they were, and arranged to have them appear on "Murder She Wrote". So, if you see an old familiar face on one of those shows, she was not only getting a great talent, she was also giving them a hand qualifying for benefits!

I was on an episode of Murder She Wrote. It was an episode that was an Asian episode. I was a background actor. Dustin Nguyen was in it and the scene I was in was filmed up at the now gone Chinese restaurant Fung Lum up by Universal Studios. Fung Luum is a beautiful restaurant. I never went back to eat there but at least I got to be there during filming. Soon-Tek-Oh was also in it. I sat near them when we ate. No, we did not eat in the restaurant and we did not have Chinese food. Frances Nuyen was in the episode but I don't recall her in the scene I was in although maybe she was but it has been 30 years. Between takes Angela Lansbury would sit down in a Director's chair and knit. She would not talk to anyone on set. It was great seeing a legend. Her brother Bruce was a producer on the show was on the set that day.

Most People don’t realise she wasn’t American and didn’t actually have an American accent!.. I always find it surprising in your vids at how fast the kids are happy to sell of family houses
@kibblenbits Жыл бұрын
At the age she died, her children probably had grandchildren themselves, and well established homes of their own. It's just a house, and you wouldn't need to keep it, to remember the mother you loved. Also, you have no idea if it was stated in the will that the house be sold. I've never understood why some people see an inanimate object as something to become emotionally attached to. No object will ever replace a person you cared for, and the memories you're left with are what's important.
@melindacallaghan5367 Жыл бұрын
Kids grow up, have their own families and lives and scatter. None of us 5 kids lived near our childhood home, so it was sold . Our parents would want a new young family to love it and make it theirs. We sold it to a great family in town who Needed more space. 😊

Thanks, Jordan! Angela Lansbury was wonderful in GASLIGHT. Frankly, her performances in most everything she did were excellent. Imagine at the beginning of your acting career that you're in a film with two powerhouse actors like Ingrid Bergman and Charles Boyer and you more than hold your own! Offhand I can't remember if Angela had any scenes with Joseph Cotten in that film. I'll have to pull out my old VHS copy of GASLIGHT to see. Cotten was a most interesting person. Wiki says, "He was buried at Blandford Cemetery in Petersburg, Virginia." That might be worth checking out, Jordan, for another vlog. Angela was also wonderful in the Paul Newman film THE LONG HOT SUMMER playing Orson Welles' lady friend, with a Southern accent, no less. And if you can get ahold of a copy of the melodrama IF WINTER COMES where she plays opposite Walter Pidgeon, it's a weepy acting tour-de-force. Thanks for the vlog on such a lovely human being as Angela Lansbury. Enjoyed it!.
