My youngest daughter was born on July 19. I had two friends who also had babies (both boys) within that week. When it was time to start kindergarten, both of my friends opted to keep their sons out for another year. My daughter was ready to go to kinder, she was so excited about it! She did terrific that year and easily made the transition from kinder to first grade the following year. But during that year, things changed. She was not only the youngest child in her class, but also the smallest. After a meeting with her teacher right before Spring Break, we (the parents) requested that she repeat first grade. That was the best decision we ever made for her! She needed that year to grow physically and, I believe, emotionally and mentally. Thank you for sharing so openly your thoughts and feelings with us.

Totally agree with waiting when it comes to cut off dates from school! I was born super close to the cut off date for the district I went to growing up (my birthday actually often fell on the first day of the school year in middle and high school), and I’m so glad my mother chose to wait. I still did preschool, and my mother was basically doing homeschool material at home with me as well, but waiting was 100% the best choice. Being the oldest in age out of a child’s grade level classmates for in-person schooling is SO beneficial. For me, the thing I noticed most as I got older, was the stark difference in maturity levels between the students who were at the end of the age bracket, and the students who were at the beginning of the age bracket. This was most important and noticeable in middle school and high school. It seemed so much easier for me to not succumb to peer pressure compared to the younger ages of my grades, and was easier to remain a more studious and focused student vs those at the younger end of the age bracket. With the way public schools are today (to the point that I personally would feel most comfortable homeschooling my children), I would say that this is of even more importance than ever. Kids need ALL the help they can get in a public school setting (with extra emphasis on maturity levels), especially in today’s world.

Amazing advise to the sweet mama with two under two... I would also add that as a mama of 6, I had to give my days over to God. To see each disaster and each moment of chaos as God's gift for me to see his grace and his hand over our lives. Nothing is better for sanctification then a lot of littles around. Read "Teaching from Rest" even if you don't intend on homeschooling. Her attitude towards what "rest" really is, is so beautiful. Resting in God even when life around us is crazy.

Oh Angie, when I hear you talk about missing church I feel for you. I've moved a few times. From California to Sweden then around other parts of Sweden and church can be hard to find. We have spent many lonely years navigating that. When you've had a great one teaching biblical truth and filled with wonderful people it's always a comparison game and it's hard because we can get to wrapped up in what a church can provide for us instead of just going out of obedience. Anywho I just pray that you and C.R are able to feel compelled to dive in and find a church that loves God, teaches GOD'S ways, is true to the word, and is going to be a community for you and your family. Praying for you!

I don't comment often on your posts but the verse you quoted about children not departing from the teachings of their parents. This is true to some extent. I am no longer a Christian but I still feel that I live in accordance to how I was raised for the most part. I believe children and humans can have good moral values and not be a part of a religion. Also as a 20yr homeschooling veteran let me say that the kids who act the wildest, rebel the most are the ones who have religion and dogmatic beliefs forced on them. This is so apparent in southern homeschooling communities in the Bible Belt. I hope people love their kids where they are and for who they are, raising them to be wise and good thinkers and let their kids work out their souls/spirituality without fear or risk of persecution by those that claim to love them.

The wildest kids being from religious homes thing just isn’t true statistically. If a whole city full of kids is doing drugs and murdering and being in gangs, but are from non-religious poor families , we don’t bat an eye. If a kid does some wild things from a religious family, it must be the religion. Rich no religious families I knew growing up, the kids all partied hard, it’s just they hid it better. It’s not the religion.
@bonesonstones12 жыл бұрын
@@cjdflkj yeah, but the hypocrisy makes it hit different 🤷♀️ also, what statistics are you referring to? I'd love to take a look.
@kindnessmatters40682 жыл бұрын
I'll have to say that I understand what you are saying, because i have seen what you speak of, but our churches of the people I know and grew up with, don't have very many wild rebellious children. They are very few and far between.... but for the ones you're speaking of... they only had a religion not a relationship with God... when we have a relationship with God we raise our children by example a whole lot more and its not a forced thing at all... because we love God and we serve Him because we want to and not for anyone else or any group over us... God in us and working thru us teaches our children of His love and mercy and of His ways so much better then our forcing on them what we "believe". I'm so sorry you have been acquainted with anything less then this... 😔 I was raised in a godly atmosphere at church (my mom had a bad past but tried her best, my dad was a good man and preacher) but it wasnt forced on us, but shown and it made us children hungry for Him because we saw first hand how much God loves us... His ways were shown to us not shoved on us. Hope this makes sense. All of our churches in our group are independent churches (around 500-700 in the US and in other countries) we are just Christians we all try to love Jesus in our own homes and we strive to live right, and how we feel He would like for us personally... as we learn and read form His word and allow it to speaks to us, we become what He desires for us to be like.. God is clear and He gives to each of us a path and a way that He wants us to go that may not look exactly like the person sitting across the isle from us, because He knows what best will ger us to Heaven and what best will make us useful for Him and happy in Him. He has individual standards that he applies to our hearts and as we follow Him andd Him only we can have the clearest closest walk with Him... yes our churches have people in them that make mistakes even have some hypocrites but we have to look beyond the Hypocrites to a God that is ever present and patient towards us who loves us no matter how we've been taught no matter how much something's been forced on us... He loves me more than all of that confusion. He loves me so much.
@BeautifulWreck22 жыл бұрын
@@cjdflkj I’m not sure where you get your statistics from. I also don’t care. As someone who was raised in a strict purity culture evangelical home that went to a private Christian school I can say that is not my lived experience as the term nor as a homeschooling parent in this culture. Also there are plenty of papers and research that back up what I am throwing down. In fact when it comes to domestic abuse and cheating - the Christians win hands down statistically. But back to kids - you can Google and find very quickly that children raised in secular homes, in stable environments are happier and do not rebel and participate in some of the dangerous behaviors their counterparts do. And that is what I am talking about. I could literally write a book on how to raise a child to be a liberal and atheist and that is to push dogma down their throat, teach about Jesus and his Social Justice and Love for all, and then be a hypocrite.

Whatever you do with the leak, remove the drywall and insulation. Have a mold remediation company come out and do it. My son got seriously ill, as in having to use an epi pen and years of medical problems after renting a home that had a leak. They repaired the roof but ignored the rest.

You could check your local university for a cooperative extension agent or if your county has an arborist. In my state, there is a disease killing oaks. You can get special pellets to bury under tree canopy, not just at roots, to help save the trees! Cutting trees is so expensive. On the farm I grew up on, they’d mark trees to take down (timber company for income) to help let in light for regrowth.

Angela, I first started watching because I've seen your children and the size of your family, but I've had other reasons why I stay watching without seeing them every time. For me, it's more about how to manage the daily living with a large family, homeschooling, caring for your surrounding, just life as a large family in general. I don't directly have a large family(lots of children), but it was a desire of mine since I was a child living in the home of a family with 9 siblings for a time (not my biological siblings). I have had an aunt (may she rip) who gave birth to 14 children (no multiples), of which I know most of them and I think it's awesome (their relationship with each other, faith in God, and her description of how she managed to feed them mostly off their own land etc). I see the similarities in your family, and your chilled loving personality, that's why I'm still here. God gives us what we can manage and some times what we desire(if it is good for us). I am inspired and it makes me appreciate what he has given me. I have a close relationship with my twin girls and my son, we thrive on have our daily moments together. I share what I learn here with them. Thanks for always sharing what you can. God bless you and your family.💖💖🙏🏽

We had to place drian titles in some feilds and keep the horses off others for long periods of time so the grass doesn't get stressed. We also had to expand our feild sizes as they were to small for the amount of animals we had. 5 acres feilds to 10 acres for our 6 horses/donkeys and two 2 acre dry lots. Now we have no issues and alot of grass. It was so stressful for us and understood 100% what your going through. Keep up the good work and everything will work out!!! You got this!

What needs to happen is a new roof with something called a valley so rain is able to run off instead of pool up. This wasn’t a planned project so it can get on your nerves,but I just keep telling myself this isn’t permanent and this time will past and before you know it we’ll have a beautiful new mud room/ laundry room without the leaks 😁 Keep your head up and know your not alone someone else is on the crazy train with you 🤣

The rain situation sounds the exact same as what we are going through in the northeast. Humidity temperature dropping and a lot of rain.

I love your perspective on many things. Particularly, rasing children that you'd like to be around and the unwillingness to sacrifice your children's happiness, privacy, etc for the sake of social media popularity. I'm a homeschooling mom, too and I'll be tuning in more often to your channel. Feel better soon.

Not even through the video but what I can immediately think about in relation to the sun porch is that it wasn't designed right. Most often there will be a slight inclination (slope) in porches and balconies. That will help lead the water to one corner of the balcony where there is either a drain or in the case of my house a pipe that takes the water to the garden. This stops it from gathering all the water on the porch or balcony and then having it leak into the kitchen. I hope this information can help with fixing the issue with the porch. It is also possible that your roof might have this problem (ours did at some point and it was not good) so check if there are any little cavities or areas where the water can't go down the drain from your roof. Also, hope you feel better soon. Now back to watching the rest of the video!

Just to say - I love your Q&As more than anything to be honest! Not that I don't like seeing vlogs or the kids if you choose to show them. But I'm more interested in hearing your thoughts on things and feeling like I'm listening to a chat! :)

Definitely need more CR cooking/grill content! I’m always down for more, I get tired of my go to meals. 😂

I lived in Athens for 9 months while my husband was in a Navy school. I loved Athens, Georgia, etc. One of my most popular places I have lived. Go Dawgs! ❤

I really enjoyed this. I am so with you on the house frustrations. We also have a roof top deck that leaks into our garage when it rains. We bought a 30 year old house on land and its come with its share of troubles. And like you, because we're in the country, it's been difficult to find skilled workers. My husband and I (and kiddos) do most of the work ourselves, but sometimes you just need help. We had a bathroom leak (in the wall) and water was coming in from under our floors. We couldn't find anyone local to come out and help us. We eventually found the leak and fixed it ourselves, but sheesh! Overall, we love our land and what we're building here, but we've definitely experienced those house woes too. Anyway...loved all your answers to these questions. Blessings to you all!

The bathroom leak could be that needs new flashing and/or covers around the vents. Also check the whirly bird. For me some of the skills required when picking a husband was master of the trades required for around the house. I would suggest sending husband to trades school to learn how to maintain and repair house.

Angela, It's my first time watching you and looking forward to following your journey. Please check for mold where you have the leaks, it can slowly make you sick. It worried me when you said you couldn't find a word, that was one of my first symptoms of mold poisoning.

I would love a video about the top things to know when starting an adoption journey. We’re starting the process of planning our family and there is so much to think about in terms of birth order and when to have biological children vs adopt children and how to best go about starting our big family!

Best of luck with starting your family. Also, it is wonderful that you are looking in to adoption! There so many children that need loving families.
