To all small business owners, hang in there, we can make it through. I got $70,000 for my business upgrades and new equipment. A huge thank you to the grant writer recommended in one of your videos - the application process went really well. Wishing success to all my fellow business owners this week!

MAYBE I CAN HELP 🤔Have you thought about using your space as a retreat site? 🤔 you could teach how the machines work . Most quilter’s bring their own projects they want to work on. Research the retreats. You have a lot of experience and can help others. I have a Husqvarna 10 needle machine and I have to figure out so much trouble shooting and there is very little info on my machine. No tech support. You could also make a teaching video And charge people to view it. Also, try making your own svg files to sell. I hope these ideas help.

This was me 1-2 years ago. I almost lost EVERYTHING! My sales had tanked. My house was a month away from the process of auction. I had to pivot my entire business. I had to think about the current economy. A majority of people aren't able to splurge on more expensive items. So I had to think items that could sell at a lower price point but still make a profit. Girl, you have to work on moving your inventory blanks. You got this. Sit down and come up with a game plan. Dont buy anything else until you move a bunch of product.

You rushed into stuff, just because you can afford something doesn’t mean you should. We stayed in one space for 18 years. We out grew it so fast and we do embroidery, screen printing and we finally just moved into a small warehouse. If something works, it should stay that way, make it work. Sell some machines, restart, go back to saving and nothing else. Just because you make 10k a month and your warehouse is let’s just say 5, doesn’t mean you need to be okay with that, you should be doing 20-30k a month to get getting something that large. Don’t ship same day, no one cares, because either way your shipment could get lost and then you just wasted money. I’m here to help! I’d love to help :) let me know AJ:)))))❤️❤️

There is a very young wealthy female who had inventory issues too. She said it was one of her big mistakes, where she ordered the wrong colors so they piled up and sat there in the warehouse. What she did was she offered a buy 1 get 1 free, or maybe it was a buy 2 get 1 free. So she would load off the ugly colored ones as the freebee, and her customers were still happy because they were free. So she ended up selling tons from that. You can use them as giveaways to draw more people into your shop. Just some ideas.

my hubby does shirts on the side like screen printing & he would create his own designs on the computer. I used to help him with it, but its tough when we both work full time. We had a bunch of shirts in these 4 colors that were sitting. So the buy two get one free helped get rid of them in 2 weeks. We had a little over 400 shirts and like 100 of them were kids 3t-8t and 100 were plus size cause we too thought we could cater to those sizes and offer it, but ive learned to just carry a few and leave it to businesses that cater to that size cause thats what they specialize in at least for a small business. I did reach out on mom groups and let them know we were doing a BOGO deal and any big orders that are 15+ shirts would get a discount and discounts for school or team related projects. It helps to reach out and ask.

Money is tight. Grocery prices went up. I’m a Longarm Quilter. Quilts are not a necessity. I used to own a Salon for 30 years, i used to follow McDonalds sales to know the pulse of consumer spending, I had a friend who owned a few franchises. It stayed true with my business. Spending depends on economy. Set up part of your business space for retreats and teaching small projects. People don’t have space at home. Put some kits together and sell to students who come in to use during class and offer the same kit for the at home people. Have them pre ordered and paid for before your class project, so you’re not out of pocket. Have promoted sales on in stock inventory items. Use what you have on hand. Creatives can hang and survive. Have you considered using a mystery box system where you box your inventory by size and sell the boxes by 5, 10, 15 items. Sell at discounted price and clients get it in the size they want but can’t choose what they get. Mix up colours and styles you have the most of and give them a good selection so they will be happy to receive it. All the best with getting your health sorted and hang in there.

Hey Angela. I was in a commercial space before for a different business. Go to your landlord and ask for a reduction in rent. I did it, it was scary but it worked. They rather have some money than no money! Stay positive and ask for help and lean on your support system. Business is rough and quite lonely at times but you have everything you need to get through this season of difficulty. Remember your “why” and get back to your original goals and purpose. DON’T get any loans or sink further into a financial hole because it will be very difficult to recover from that (my attorney gave me that advice when I first met her and she helped me sell my business painlessly). I’m a fellow Marylander if you want to talk. I believe in your fight, your determination and your journey. You got this!

I’m so glad I saw this. I’m an OG subscriber old name was (Scorpioblaque). I started back in 2018 embroidering and your videos helped me a lot. I started thinking about the toddler birthday shirts back then but then I saw the aftermath of everyone and their mama doing it so in 2019 I started selling embroidered stuffed animals and diaper bags. Sells took off and I couldn’t keep up with inventory so fast forward a year, I over spent and have about $30,000 dollars of inventory just sitting. 2 years ago, I would make about $6000-$7000 a month easily, now I would be lucky to make $700 a month. I was shocked at how fast the customers left. But my business bills need to be paid and I have been operating at a loss for the past 2 years. I’m in the same boat as you where I need to sell off inventory because sales and coupons aren’t cutting it. I love embroidery and I want it to be profitable but I cried to my partner if I should just give up. It does make me feel better to know I am not the only one who has seen the sales decline. I hope we all can get through this❤

I have been in business for 31 years in the same shopping center. Similar business to yours . Started at 23 years old. The best advice I will give you is. You are young and that is your greatest asset . You are supposed to take risk when you’re young, and you have and also have learned from everything. I believe you are an LLC. If so get out of that large warehouse. Your business credit will take a hit but change your business name afterwards. Your personal credit will not be affected. Get out of all the printing business. Only do embroidery. ALL PRINT MACHINES will break down and technology changes faster than you can fit the machines. Finally stay connected with GOD and you and your family will be just fine. Retail Allocations Analyst here 👋🏽 1st. Take inventory & get clear on what you own and what you spent on it. 2: streamline your assortment & sizes. There something called productivity per sq ft. Larger sizes don’t move as fast so it’s wasting your retail space that could be used for something more productive. Having 4yo inv is a 🚫, your sitting on money. You may have to sell it at very low margin or break even to gain some liquidity. 3. You need to set RTV clause with your vendor. If something wasn’t made good they need to take it back. Maybe find a retail planner to help you analyze your historical data that could suggest some levers to pull. Other ideas Maybe you could have in person warehousesales My other idea is to sublet some of your rooms to other small businesses. Wishing all the best of luck!

I've been watching this and waiting for the shoe to drop. Customer coupons/rebates/bonus money cannot be maintained over the long term. You're not alone. Inventory sitting on shelves for months is not making you anything, liquidate. I did that about two years ago and changed course. Now I'm not bleeding money and spinning in circles. You have so much knowledge about the business that you could write an ebook and sell it for about $20-$25. People that are seriously interested in getting into it would buy it & you could offer one on one mentoring. Charge a couple hundred just to see how it goes, and increase your price once it takes off. As far as advertising goes, you could reach out to some of those big influencers with followers in the millions or close to it who charge to post other businesses on their pages. That could help you reach a lot of people.

Angela - Clearance sales are important - Get rid of the MISTAKES so you don't have to look at them and try to recoup some of your money back. Even if you sell them at your cost or below your cost, it may prompt people to buy regular priced items too. If you have someone that could do a cashflow chart, it may help you to determine when to let go of items faster. A "LEAN" model of push and pull might be of some interest to you and you won't have as much money tied up in inventory......I say this looking at my room and stacks of blanks that I think I am going to get to...... Get rid of some stuff, it is weighing you down. For me, your videos like this hold much more interest than the "work with me" type videos. You have such talent. This. I've done this a lot in the past...just sell and/or donate what you can at cheap. It's hard because you look at it and see all the potential, but at this point, it's A) likely causing stress and anxiety whenever you see it, and B) not making any money sitting there. Think of it as "already a loss" and see if you can recoup a few dollars from it at least. Example: Even if you sell an item at $2, it's still $2 more than $0.

Gluten! I had pain in every joint from neck to ankles. I had to slide out of bed everytime I sat down and stood up it was painful to walk. I cut out gluten, all gluten and the pain stopped immediately! I am so thankful and i was frustrated because after seeing many Dr's none ever suggested it could be my diet. Its definitely worth a try I currently have zero pain.

I agree with you. This is because the economy is not doing well and it is becoming difficult for consumers and all businesses. Just like a cold, you have to go through it to get better, I think it will get better only after this period passes. If you get a cold shot and take medicine, you may feel less sick or get better sooner, but if you catch a cold, everyone will feel sick for a few days. In the current economic crisis, no matter what effort you make, it may be a little less difficult, but it seems to be a difficult time for everyone no matter what you do. Hold on. To endure is to win. cheer up!!

Offer bundles in a variety of sizes. I sold $200,000 of quilt fabric my first year. Just on Facebook… I offered a shipping deal when people ordered 20 yards because I didn’t want to mess with shipping 2 yards at a time. Shipping was at cost for a medium flat rate even if you added another 10 yards. That really increased sales and I covered we Ed shipping for the added yards.

Angela, I've been watching you since you were in your basement making tutus and kids shirts on a single needle machine. You have really had quite the ride with your business. I have over 30 years working in retail and studied business at college. I think that you should look into investing in an inventory management system. It will take time to inventory everything you have in the warehouse. But organizing, creating inventory scanning stickers for tracking products, and the ability to see where you have inventory that isn't selling will help you move out the old stuff. I am also with you dealing with pain all over. Keep trying to do the best you can each day and keep laughing and smiling. Good luck and stay focused on what needs to be done today.

Your sample collections can be based on gender, size, quantity..whatever you want and whatever combinations you want. Price them at some kind of a markup that helps regain some profit..and charge a flat shipping fee based on weight or roll the shipping cost into the price of the sample boxes. Use pirateship which offers USPS & UPS at amazing prices if you're not using them already.

The golden years for online handamde selling were in 2019-2020-2021, everyone was mostly home, just buying, not because the economy was great, but because we had nothing else to do than following people online and consuming content. A LOT of online businesses that skyrocketed during those years have been decimaded now everything seems to be back to normal. There is another lady here on youtube from the UK in a similar (no warehouse tho) situation than you and she said since last year most of her customers just vanished all of a sudden. I can totally relate!! I opened my business in October 2020. It took off amazingly, to the point where I rented out an office in June 2021……. And suddenly… the sales dropped off a cliff!! Thinking back it was far too soon to get an office, but I honestly ran out of space and I have enough coming in to rent (600 a month). Things eventually did pick up again and got better consistently, with lots of grafting but then built a shed in my back yard and moved back home July 2023. It’s going good. It’s taken the pressure off and I’m saving that 600. Good luck with it all, it does happen, and I always believe if you’ve done it before you can do it again.
