I'm 52 years old as well. I do like the streamlined belted shift dresses because they are structured. It is a shame that the majority of outfits are fully or mainly polyester, as it is not a breathable fabric. At my mid life, l'm very aware of fabric sustainability and breathability. So l'm happy to spend more for natural fibres: silk, cotton, viscose, modal, wool. Natural fabrics will always outdo a synthetic fabric in terms of looking well dressed / expensive, and regulate body temperature across seasons.

I love the way you call these dresses “One and done”. When I was growing up, my mother always called these dresses “Holy moly dresses”. That’s because, if you sleep in or have to make a quick choice, you don’t need a slip, nylons, or a lot of jewelry. You just say, “Holy Moly, look at the time”‼️ And get dressed in no time. I buy most of my clothes second hand. I find high end, one of a kind fashion items that no one else has on. Recently camped up north in Manistee with a group of couples our age ( 50’s & 60’s) surrounding us a for several days. One of the ladies came to my campsite & said “ just want you to know us ladies love your style”. Fashion takes thought, to know what colors & cuts work with your body type not just what’s current. I gained 20 lbs during Covid so have been down on myself so their comment was a great pick me up. Love the green dress & can be great for winter w/black tights, black boots & black moto jacket.

I think that is what the skinny low waist jeans were MEANT to be that way-only for some not for all. My teenaged daughters found this discriminating reality the hard way. The term “muffin top” was created to describe those wearing those jeans for whom they were not designed. FINALLY, while in college one of my daughters discovered high-waisted jeans! She was amazed to finally find her true waist - and her true figure. Beautiful, and no more insecurity.

The problem with plaid anything is that the side seams do not match the patterns. When they do match they look much more expensive, usually because they are more expensive. This is a pet peeve of mine. Love the dresses and I also gravitate to CK.

I feel like I've already made too many comments, but speaking of jeans. I have 2 pair of jeans that I bought at Dillards in 2021, after losing 20 lbs. on keto. They are super nice skinny jeans and fit like a dream. They have a snug band that comes midway up the stomach. It is a built-in tummy flattener. Between then and after the 'pandemic', boredom set in and I gave into my cravings for carbs. Anyway, I started the diet again about 2 months ago and can wear those jeans again! I have some cool new tee shirts and a blazer that I wear with them and some white sneakers. I add a few simple pieces of jewelry, a nice casual bag and it makes for a really classy look! I got some admiring glances from strangers, especially women with smiles, so I like to think they were admiring my style! Thanks Angela for bringing jeans up for discussion! Hello Angela. I just happened upon your channel for the first time. It was a lot of fun! I loved all the dresses you found. They looked beautiful on you! So classy and for the price, what a steal. The yellow flowered long skirt was an real show stopper. You looked like a model on the run way. I have to say though, when you put those Jeans and t-shirt on, Wow!! Very enjoyable to watch! However, at your size you could wear a tablecloth and look great! Unfortunately most women are size 12 or larger. Those gals ( ok, me included ) are the ones who REALLY need helpful suggestions. I just turned 80, and have had a love affair with fashion since 8th grade. My life has taken me on a wonderful journey, but with several health issues along the way. The blue & white striped dress is Gingham fabric… classic summer fabric. It’s cotton, usually. I bought that in July I think, when they 1st put out a lot of blue & white dresses on their racks, & they were all gone within 1-2 weeks. Since we’ve had so many 100+ degree days here in So Calif, I’ve worn it many times for church on Sundays. Here we are at the end of Sept, and we’re continuing to have 100+ days. I think to help it go into early Fall, one could wear straw colored accessories… purse, hat, shoes, cardigan, etc. I love it! Also, love the yellow skirt, and many other outfits!

You are going to love it there Gail!! It was absolutely beautiful and the food was amazing! Definately consider more dresses as they are an easy one and done outfit that will make you look a bit more dressy (that is typically how they dress there). I could have gotten away with just my tennis shoes or my Birkenstocks because they are the most comfortable and you can still wear them with the dresses. Lots of women do that there.
