I love grimoires. Just the entire image and idea of old musty texts full of secret magical knowledge, mysterious symbols, and written in ancient languages, it's all just so cool to me.

Dr. Angela, all I can say is WOW! You encapsulated so much information about the current Grimoire Traditionalism movement that the casual viewer may not grasp or appreciate. Though I have chosen to focus on the Book of Abramelin as my particular vehicle for connection with divine, you very accurately summarize my personal viewpoint on commercialization of esoteric traditions and the pitfalls of undiscerning eclecticism. This was an amazingly dense and insightful examination of an evolving field in practical occultism. I commend you for your ongoing efforts to shine an academic light on very current developments in this field of study.

🔮Very interesting and well-made video! Thanks, as always, Dr. Puca, for your excellent work! I wonder: is there evidence for people like Crowley using the Sworn Book directly, or at least being familiar with it? I wonder if he took the fact that there are 93 sections to one part of it as a kind of confirmation of the importance of that number for Thelema, apart from how he derived it himself. 🔮"...more Latin, and less dancing..." I can't help but feel that the happy medium (whether the balance point between two things, or a content practitioner of spirit possession!) would involve equal parts of Latin and dancing. ;) 🔮"...a witch at a pool party..." Did you ever attend PantheaCon when it still existed? There were lots of witches there, no small number of parties, and a pool where all three could end up intersecting. Interesting times!

I Love your approachability so much. I also am sad because in your last Symposium my question was not proposed to you , I could not write it in time somehow, I tried to, but ,was not allowed somehow. It was a strange experience. However I have had such wonderful experience so far, with the occult, which can be said to be the lacking parts, or rather the taken out parts of practically every religion. I do believe that some poets can and have manage to capture religion with their wise words...like the poet Divani Nurbakhsh.sufi poetry. I would love to give this book to you for your Birthday.✡☪☯✝☮

It has become somewhat easier to avoid the entire religious subjects and rather to agree to those who propose by constant nagging a more peaceful public perspective. Although I have been working on some thoughts of writing at least one ritual into the workings of a potential ceremony. Implamenting as much symbolism as possible perhaps to be reviewed by practicing professional scholars as yourself. Off course there are very few elements of existing ritual that I have knowledge on so it would be great to learn and collaborate with someone. To be able to make it practical, meaningful and attempt to add a mystical occultist aspect to it. I will get to it some day, unless there is someone who would like to work more in depth with me personally sooner rather than some day. Your teachings are very informative thank you for sharing. I will subscribe to your mailing list aswell. 💋🔮🏹

5:20 if Honorius of Thebes is not a historical figure who is the author who first put the words to pen and were did this individual get their information from? Who believed these magicians had access to divine knowledge? Or is this as far back as this path goes?
@Algernir3 ай бұрын
We don’t know. The author is anonymous but it seems that they got information from the various traditions available to them in the 14th century with seeming references and inspiration from Islamic and Jewish mystic and magical traditions of that time.

As a practitioner, I'm going to say that the theologians were wrong and the wizards were right: You absolutely can induce a beatific vision. The Sworn Book also makes an argument that would later appear in Crowley: religions get superseded. Some of these spirits might come when a non-Christian calls, but most won't because they are believing djinn of the new order--as some Thelemites claim have discovered with the Olympian Spirits.
