Good morning. Have you ever tried putting unscented body lotion in a small cosmetic jar and spraying your favorite perfume on the lotion, close it up and let it fuse with the lotion overnight and voila, perfect for the next day under your same perfume.Thank you, Angela.

I purchased the original Tresor so many times when I was in my 20s. I would love to smell the version you showed 🥰 your description sounded amazing.

I worked with a girl back when I was in my 20s who always smelled wonderful…I asked her about her perfume and the next day she brought me a tiny vial of a thick, amber colored oil called “Egyptian Musk.” It was an oil you got back then from street and flea market venders who sold oils of all different fragrances. I’ve been wearing it ever since, even during times when I bought or received gifts of perfume from high end brands. A tiny vial lasts forever because it’s so concentrated, and stays on until the next time you shower. It’s dirt cheap and everyone comments on how nice the scent is, both men and women. I think it is popular with black women, because they are the ones that say “oh, you are wearing Egyptian Musk!” Everyone else just says, “What kind of perfume are you wearing….it smells so good!”

Hi Geslina :) You made me very curious. I would love to smell it and I will definitely try to find Egyptian Musk oil. A huge thank you for sharing! xoxo
@geslinam97032 жыл бұрын
@@Frenchforaday they aren’t all the same, now that there are so many versions out there….some formulas are thinned out, probably mixed with alcohol, I find that the thicker, more viscous oils are better both in scent and lasting power. Right now I have a little bottle my coworker bought me from a street vendor in Philadelphia last year…not sure where you could find it in Italy, but a pretty decent commercial one is by the brand Kuumba, sold at Whole Foods here in the states, might be able to find it on Amazon.

Angela, thank you very much for the education regarding fragrance etiquette. I’m well aware of not overdoing fragrance but I didn’t know about occasions when fragrance was inappropriate. Allure has been my favorite since it was released. I’m disappointed that Chanel discontinued the parfum. I dislike sprays. My other favorite is Chanel L’eau, though I wish it was longer lasting. I’m enjoying your French series very much. I hope you do an Italian series. ❤️

I would add “anywhere there is ticketed seating” such as a theatre. You are assigned a seat where there could be 4-8 people immediately around you with their fragrances clashing into a headache inducing cloud. If people are not free to move away from you and still enjoy what they bought tickets for, perfume is a “no”.

Great video, Angela. I am a confessed fragrance junkie, and adore a good perfume. My Israeli grandmother was an oversprayer, which taught me that less is more. Some of my current favorite perfumes include: Maison Crivelli, Iris Malikhân Carner Barcelona, Tardes Vilhelm, Purple Fig Comme de Garçons, Concrete Narciso Rodriguez, Narciso Prada, Infusion d’Iris

Hello, Angela. Thank you for a very interesting video. I especially appreciate the information on when the French DON'T wear perfume. This reflects their sensitivity and politeness. Even though much of it is just common sense many people don't seem to realise that wearing perfume is not just self-expression but something with a strong social aspect.
@gloriamartinez25352 жыл бұрын
Hi Angela. My type of video! I only apply perfume in the points that you just suggested. I don’t like spray perfumes. I never use perfume in the morning. Only in the evening. I like to use my perfume before I put on my clothes. And I live them out of the closet when I am back home. Always put my jewelry last. And it is the first thing I remove. We have gone to restaurants where the people on the next table have such strong perfume that it interferes with the flavor of our food. This is longer than any comments. Sorry. Hugs😘😘😘

Although I love perfumes, I don’t wear them as much, because I am not in a habit of it. I do have sensitive skin, so I cannot wear them often, but I do love the bottles and the fragrance they offer. I used to wear Anna Sui’s ‘Flight of Fancy’ the most and I wear Chanel’s Paris Paris sometimes these days. I don’t layer perfume, too. I appreciate your point of view as always, Angela! I hope Angela and all of you have a great weekend! 🇫🇷🧴💝❤️💕😄👍🏻🍷

What a lovely video! I've been in love with Escentric Molecules, the Molecule 01 and Molecule 02 in combination are absolutely lovely. Secret, fresh, clean, sophisticated, woody and very discreet. Both me and my partner use it and get a lot of compliments for it! Most people assume it's a showergel or something, because the scent is so faint yet a statement. It really comes forward when I'm moving and working out, when the body heats up. Would recommend to everyone for a daily perfume! Especially the Molecule 01.

I appreciate the mention of fragrance etiquette. I am American and while i love fragrances, I think it is so rude when people dont consider others when wearing fragrance. My mom always taught me that people should only smell your fragrance when they are hugging you or sitting beside you. It should not fill the room. You dont know who might be allergic. Also most fragrances are toxic especially for babies, so I try to only use non-toxic or less toxic fragrances. My favorites are Rrose by Ellis Brooklyn, and Radiant Nectar by Clean Reserve. And i do layer those two sometimes; i have found they go together beautifully on my skin.

Thank you for this wonderful video! I learned a lot 💕 You mentioned funerals, but I wanted to add religious gatherings as a place to not wear perfume. People tend to sit closer together and I don't wear it since someone I sit by might be sensitive. My favorite perfume is the original Chloe. But I recently purchased Chloe Naturelle and am enjoying it. I've never had a favorite evening perfume; most feel too overpowering for my taste.

As a follower of the on-line fragrance community, I was very excited to hear your perspective. The style of many American fragrance youtubers is to "over spray" or wear beast mode fragrances. I agree completely that when eating out, it is best to tone down the scent. You will be happy to hear that in healthcare settings in the U.S., fragrances have been prohibited for a long time

I love layering-always with the perfume's body lotion. I never buy a perfume that doesn't have its body lotion too. I also buy the deodorant-spray- but not always the shower gel as the shower gels never finish. I agree with you about the type of perfume you should use for different day times and occasions. I find the Poison too strong.

My all time favourite perfumes, which I’ve been using since I was 15, are Chanel N°5 and Chanel Coco (the classic one, not Coco Mademoiselle which I actually dislike). I also like Shalimar by Guerlain and Flower by Kenzo. In spring and summer I like to use rather fresher, more citrusy and lighter fragrances, like some of the Allegoria line by Guerlain or Roger&Gallet (esp. Bois d’orange). Most perfumes give me strong migraines, especially if people have sprayed too much on themselves, and perfumes such as Dior poison hypnotic and the like make me actually feel dead sick (I threw up twice because of it, as they migraines they cause me was very very strong). I’m not French, I’m Italian, but I’ve always had an idea about perfumes and a certain way to use it, which is exactly how you described French people’s approach to perfumes at the beginning of the video! ❤ veri interesting video, thank you Angela!

I miss the times when you can spray some EDT and it will be just the right amount for your daytime activities. The explosion in perfume industry right now is terrible and so is the taste of many young women; you sit in a café during breakfast or lunch and next to you someone stinks like oud-wood and tabacco that they freshly sprayed 2 mins ago. Perfume is a closely personal affair. The females who tend to leave a physical trail that can be followed by males are the goddesses of the Profession. I can't believe my luck 🤣 having every single coffee sitting next to one of these.

Hi Angela! Thank you for such a helpful and thoughtful video! I have a question: I have a very sensitive nose but I love wearing fragrance. I worry that if I spray behind the ears and on the wrists it will be too much, but I don’t know if that’s just me being too sensitive or if I’m using too much. I like perfumes like God of Fire and Portrait of a Lady. What do you think?
@Frenchforaday2 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracy, thank you so much for the lovely comment :) I think the most important thing is for you to feel comfortable when wearing the perfume. Some people are more sensitive to fragrances than others. I'm confident that spraying perfume on the wrists and behind the ears won't be too much. However, it's important how you feel about it so maybe use just two sprays behind each ear. For sure it's you who is important. The perfumes that you mentioned are wonderful! You have a very sophisticated taste. xoxo

THANK YOU! for highlighting that fragrance, particularly strong fragrance, is not always appropriate to wear. I am not sure many Americans realize this. My list is as follows: Funerals/Memorial Services, Other solemn events or venues (think religious services and venues, important inductions/awards, graduations, etc.) Healthcare Locations, visitations, meetings or appointments, Office/Board Rooms, Serious Meetings (think legal or accounting meetings, or government or adoption meetings), School/Educational venues, Close-quartered public transportation (think packed airplanes or trains) Haute cuisine eating establishments/Food or wine tasting events, Exercise oriented venues and visiting individuals in small enclosed spaces or any one who is highly allergic to environmental allergens. A few recommendations for wearing some sort of scent to feel fresh and clean, but not overpowering: A light scented beautiful body lotion: French: Officine Universelle Buly (buly1803.com) or Italian: Santa Maria Novella (smnovella.com). Both make exquisite body lotions. I found Buly through a comment Tory Burch gave in an interview. She loves to buy the body lotions from Buly as Christmas presents. Sisley Eau de Soir Deodorant or Clarins Deodorants (Eau Dynamisante or Eau Ressourcante) (these are NOT anti-perspirants). Any of these will just make you smell clean and fresh for exercise. Lastly, one of my favorite fragrances for the hottest of August days is Penhaligons Artemisia. It is perfectly light and just seems like you have some floral powder on your body. I think the Ouds, Musks, etc. everyone loves today (and they are beautiful) are more for evening and celebratory occasions. And, yes, "LAYERING" would be a US Marketing concept. "Sell Mel Sell!"
