Your quilting is meticulous as always. So intricate but not too busy. I've followed you a long time - wish I could quilt like you do - and I know - practice practice practice. Thank you for the inspiration.

I really love the KISS thought when I start any quilting, I enjoy seeing your "quilt it to death" samples, but I love simplicity!

Hi Angela and Jessica, looks like I missed the live. I'm excited because I've finally got my second hand very old Happy Jack quilting frame and Janome 1600P straight stitch machine set up. So now I can learn longarming, to go with my Sweet Sixteen.

Love the idea of the small blocks!! Happy Fourth of July

Love those leaves in the Judy Niemeyer quilt, I found the center as placemats on Etsy (on sale for 4th of July!) Would make a nice medallion center & less difficult than the entire quilt and more doable for beginners. Great thoughts on not over powering that piecing with minimal echos or ruler work. I like quilting more than piecing as well but do some piecing and panels. Paper piecing is easier than it looks certainly intricate, yet can be done to minimize the bulky seams! Would only do an intricate center, then fill with patterned fabric around it so the white would draw the eye.

My favorite phrase when I'm quilting a quilt and I do something I see as clunky, is ,"Well, in the big scheme of things, it isn't going to be noticeable."

How do you combine the designs in these large areas (the white quilt?) i can see that you echo first but then you go wild with the designs. Can’t imagine doing this on a log arm (I have a Sweet 16 so I can move the quilt around!)

Judy N.’s patterns are difficult. I love foundation paper piece because it so easy to get those perfect points. Because I am experienced at Foundations paper piecing, I would never recommend Judy’s pattern. Try patterns from Quiet Play. Then you learn you can make those perfect points with ease.
