the Union Jack is made up of the Scottish and English flag as well as a flag for Northern Ireland (red hand of Ulster). The diagonal red cross (st. Patrick’s cross) represents NI/north of Ireland.

What not everyone knows about the english flag is that this flag is actually of Italian origin, specifically from Genoa. It was the historic banner of Saint George, the patron saint of Genoa, which King Richard of England requested to use in 1190 in exchange for an annual tribute.

Scotland isn’t a territory, it is its own country - all the nations that make up The United Kingdom are their own countries that then make up a larger nation, which is then shown as its own country
