(12 Sep 2017) ANGELINA JOLIE WALKS TIFF RED CARPET WITH HER KIDS FOR PREMIERE OF 'FIRST THEY KILLED MY FATHER'
Angelina Jolie and her kids returned to the red carpet at the Toronto Film Festival on Monday (11 Sept. 2017) for the premiere of "First They Killed My Father."
Jolie directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Loung Ung, who also published a book in 2001 by the same name. It tells the true story of the atrocities committed on the Cambodian people by the Khmer Rouge communist party in the 1970s. The Khmer Rouge regime is believed to be responsible for the deaths of 1.7 million Cambodians from starvation, disease and execution.
Jolie said she didn't feel pressure to screen the film in Toronto because the hard part was its recent premiere in Cambodia.
"We brought this film back to Cambodia and when we did I think she (Loung Ung) and I didn't sleep for about a week before so this one's not as hard," said Jolie. "This one isn't as much. It doesn't weigh as much on us. This film is made for the country, with the country and to bring it here it's a pleasure, I'm so happy we got into this festival, that we're here, but the pressure was on then."
She shot the film on location in Cambodia -- the country where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox -- after visiting as a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador in 2001.
Jolie and Ung spoke about having her children on set.
"They worked hard," said Jolie.
"They really were wonderful," added Ung. "I mean it was so important for Mad, he's so used to being a big brother to all the siblings that when he was on the set it was a natural transition for him to just be big brothers to everybody else. It was lovely, I loved it."
Her film may have addressed the past but Jolie also admitted that the current state of the world affects her emotional wellbeing.
"I suppose like everybody else I wake up and I see things on the news or see what's not on the news and I get kind of, I get very upset and I'm very conscious of what's happening around the world and I at least feel fortunate - Loung and I both - that we have a platform to be able to discuss these issues and have an opportunity now to take whether it be art or the opportunity tos peak to you, feel very muchf or people who do not have a voice around the world and many of the atrocities going on where people were not able to get attention and be focused on help so we all have to do our part."
It was Jolie's second red carpet in as many days. On Sunday she promoted an animated movie she executive produced called "The Breadwinner."
"First They Killed My Father" premieres Friday on Netflix.

The fact that Shi freaked out about being talked to is hilarious. Interviewer: "How proud are you of your mum?" Shi: "Um" 😂 The way the siblings laughed about it because it was so awkward is amazing, and just shows what a bond they had/have.

I watched another video of this with the audio of the mic and she actually said "we love her"

Besides her professional appearance on camera she's a typical loving mom if you notice how she kept looking behind for her kid and her wanting to hold his hand but he won't as we all know bc we have been those kids embarrassed to hold hands, she showed no carpet actions.
