Her voice was powerful, soulful and expressive, surpassing any other version of this song. How many of us can say we achieved such a feat at that age? This performance is simply incredible and showcases her extraordinary talent. “Feeling Good” was originally written by Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse and its first performer, Cy Grant. The song was written for a 1964 musical. That musical was entitled The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd. Nina Simone released her version in June of 1965. It appeared on her album I Put a Spell on You. Although various artists have also covered this song throughout the decades, Simone’s rendition by and large has remained the most-popular. Simone’s version of this song was produced by Hal Mooney.
