Her stage presence, her awareness of the cameras, and her just plain charisma are unheard of for a 10-year-old. In my opinion this should be the gold standard for this song. Nice reaction as always, Carlie, my favorite reactor and fellow Angel.

Yeah, this is my favorite version ever done of this song, let alone performed live by a 10 year old. People who can sing this sing well can sing anything else and have a control of their voice that those screaming the high notes don’t necessarily have.

In front of a studio audience and on live TV (so, basically, live and in a single take), Angelina delivers what may be the best cover of this song ever. Comfortably and confidently singing to both the crowd and the camera, few adults could do this better regardless of age. So while it's relevant that she was 10 at the time, that fact doesn't define her performance. That is, it's not a "qualifier": this wasn't a great performance "for a 10-year-old," it's simply a great performance. Coincidentally, she did it at age 10. And that is basically the story of Angelina's life.

So so professional. That could not have been done better. She is in her happy place, on a stage with an orchestra, in front of an audience...and on TV to boot. This stage of her life, between 9 - 12, was a noticeable new level for the quality of her voice. She is always great but there are levels to her vocal and performing abilities as she has grown up. And her progress in each phase increases by magnitudes. When she throws her hair behind her she's getting ready to let it out. We've seen that in a few videos. Another of her age 10 videos is the demo of a new song she was asked to do. She was the first to record it. Like many jazzy songs it's a sad song of disappointed love interest, heartbreak, and then despair that can be recognized when the strings are heard. It's a fabulous collaboration between the writer, Baby FuzZ, and singer, Angelina. And she did it at the impossible age of 10. It wasn't released at first but was leaked as a fan video. Many consider it among her best top 5. kzbin.info/www/bejne/eqebnp15nZqcn6c

This is probably my favorite live performance by Angelina. Have no idea how many times I've watched it! Powerful, magically professional, and absolutely beautiful rendition. Every "t" crossed, and every "i" dotted, no stone left unturned, by this amazing young lady! The last crescendo gets me every time. She's like Clark Kent changing into Superman right before our eyes and ears when she belts it out here!

Thank you for another enjoyable reaction to the unequalled Angelina Jordan. This was an event in support of "Plan International", a humanitarian and development organization with the goal of advancing children's rights and equality for girls around the world. "Foster Parents" sponsor needy children around the world with monetary pledges that go directly to helping the specific children whom they sponsored and are able to communicate with them via Plan International. The event was held on December 30, 2016 at Chateau Neuf Center in Oslo and broadcasted on TV2. Angelina was one of several performers and delivered a stunning performance. Most of Angelina's performances after winning Norway Got Talent at age 8 were for children charitable organizations. This Amazing young lady with the big voice and bigger heart is 17 years old now and still performs barefoot to remember the shoeless girl that she met when she was 6 years old and to remind us all of the many needy children around the world.

No one will ever sing that song or cover it better than Angelina did, at any age, she absolutely slayed this song, in my opinion far better than Nina Simone ever did, this was fire 🔥

There are so many things I get from this performance. (1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice. (2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move. (3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus. (4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance. (5) That wonderful crescendo at the end. (6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance (7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand. (8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 3.10 in your reaction video. (9) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child who, curseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause. Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different

Nicly done! 🙂 After a recent group viewing of a Yellowstone episode (my crew is almost as obsessed with Yellowstone as we are with Angelina) we had a discussion on what perfection means and we came up with two basic tenants, perfection is subjective, what is perfection is (which a member of my crew blurted out that it whatever the captain says it is. Which in turn got a you're dam right from me! 🙂) different for me than it might be for you. anyway, it is subjective and indeed fleeting. So what the hell does this have to do with Angelina? If you listen to the greatest artists of any genre, every live performance is different and Angelina delivers everytime. Two people can disagree on which of her performances are the best version of one of her songs but, both agree that she is amazing. I keep saying it but I believe that we are witnessing a once in a generation talent that has been blessed by the hand of God and by doing so, has blessed all those who hear her. Peace and Calm Seas... ✌🛥

I understand the comment about her age being irrelevant. I’ve said that on occasion, too. What that means for me is that her singing is not amazing because she’s so young-it’s just amazing for a singer of any age. Angelina, young as she is here, has given me my favorite versions of many songs-period. Her covers of I Put a Spell on You, Yellow Brick Road, Bohemian Rhapsody, A Million Years Ago (just to name a few) I like better than the originals. And each of those were sung by mega-famous adult singers. Same with today’s song. The fact that she’s so young here is extraordinary, but I don’t give her extra credit for that-I just am hearing the best versions of these songs ever.

I/we have loved watching you react to our littlest angel, Angelina Jordan Astar. One really nice thing about following such a wonderful singer/songwriter is that she’s been doing live onstage performances since she was 7. So….now it’s time to spin back the clock and watch how she first took the world stage on Norway’s Got Talent (NGT). I highly, highly, encourage you to watch the additional content provided on NGT 1 and NGT 4 (English subtitles or CC). Any time we get to hear little AJ talking about herself and her experiences, it gives us that warm feeling inside. We know she was 7 years old when she began this journey and a new 8 when she won it. I’ve watched reactions to these videos so often that I’ve taken to estimating her age by the growth of her teeth. By this approach, when she sings Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” before the judge’s elimination panel, we can still see that permanent tooth striving to fill in the gap. Based on this physiological feature, it had to be days since her NGT 1 audition, so I believe she was still 7 at the time. By NGT 3, both teeth are side by side. NGT 1 was her arrangement of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Love You.” Angelina was the last to audition, and the judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. What they saw was a barefooted little girl walk onto the stage; hair all mussy (Amy Winehouse?) and snaggletoothed. If you haven’t heard Billie sing this one, you should take a side journey to watch it. You will hear some of the same strains that Angelina puts into it. What you won’t hear are the exact same lyrics. This song originally comes from Hungary and it’s known as the Hungarian Suicide Song, as a bereft lover contemplates joining their love in death. But 7 year old Angelina wouldn’t be thwarted by the song, so she arranged the lyrics to tell a story of a sad Sunday. I listened to Holiday's performance, and find it amazing that I sometimes hear Billie's voice and phrasing, from a seven year old!!! NGT 2 was of her singing Billie Holiday’s version of "I'm a Fool to Want You" before a judge's elimination panel. She sang this completely a cappella; absolutely precious. NGT 3 was the first televised live performances of show, in which the Norwegian audience could begin casting votes for the winner. She sang Nancy Sinatra's version of "Bang, Bang". NGT 4 is the final performance, with Angelina singing "Summertime" (Gershwin). NGT 4 has 4 segments in the video. It begins with a spotlight on Angelina. We get to hear Angelina talking about her experiences on NGT. She’s so small that her feet stick out straight when sitting on the chair. This segment transitions into her amazing singing "Summertime". Her talent has grown almost exponentially, even over the brief period of several months. Immediately after she sings, the third segment begins. Here we get to listen to the judges speaking to Angelina about how she's impacted each of them. I recommend listening to this portion as well, as their comments are almost prescient. Every time I watch her sing over the years, these comments come back again and again. The final segment is of her being named the winner, as they announce the three top scoring performer(s). Some reactors cut it off at this point, while others retain it. Just don’t miss the first three parts. Of Angelina’s 4 performances, be sure to use the links provided for NGT 1 and NGT 4. These videos contain the per- and post-content I spoke of above. - Norway’s Got Talent Season 2014 Links - *NGT 1 - "GLOOMY SUNDAY" (pre/post performance w/English subtitles) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmTKhJulbt6Zbpo NGT 2 - "I'M A FOOL TO WANT YOU" (sung a cappella) NGT 3 - "BANG BANG" cover of Nancy Sinatra's rendition - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mYSogGZ_gruneas *NGT 4 - "SUMMERTIME" (NGT spotlight on Angelina, performance, judge's comments, winning NGT, w/English CC) - kzbin.info/www/bejne/sH-XnHSlm5acqZI - Quick Tech Recommendations - - Raise the volume on your end for yourself, but even more so with the music. Both you and the music are crystal clear, but I have to watch for the end of your reaction so I can turn it way down for the next. - I/we love hearing you share your feelings about what you’re hearing, as the joy you have is the joy we share in. Using this pause and restart method, you can store up several comments you can share with us. My recommendation is that whenever you decide to pause, be sure to back up the video 5 to 10 seconds before you restart. By doing this, we can get right back into the flow of the music. Sometimes the following verses or phrasing depends on the ones just preceding them. The easiest way to do this on a computer is to use the “back arrow key” on your keyboard. With a smartphone, it’s simply a tap on the left side of the screen. - Another benefit from the pause and restart approach above is that you will satisfy both parts of the Fair Use Exception to Copyright Law. Pausing breaks up the video, so you won’t need to mask the video portion anymore. As you’re also already aware, when you speak during the reaction, you can’t be later accused of simply reproducing an artist’s sound track. - Last of all, concerning your reactions…don’t change a thing. You’re already golden.

I've got the chills and she doesn't rush the ending, either. She's pro. Yes, it is important to see her musical intelligence, not just her singing, and age does matter. Perhaps, the most mysterious aspect of Angelina’s talent is that, she performs with the maturity and artistry of a 50-year jazz singer, but has the child demeanor and maturity of any other girl her age when she’s not singing. One could almost believe that she transform in to some other person when singing, and not simply in her personality, but also, somehow, magically gaining an adult’s confidence and emotional intelligence. I suppose, it’s a kind of musical genius, however, it’s startlingly unusual. Perhaps, uniquely so.

Shea, notice that when AJ ascends up the scale in the coda, she's actually directing the band with her left hand, so that the musicians understand her ad lib tempo exactly, and can anticipate her as she moves up the scale. All this in a live, broadcast performance. I just can't articulate how unreal that is for a 10-year-old. AJ's situational awareness is beyond comprehension.

You've heard her singing in the studio. You've heard her live on stage. Now you need to hear her "live at home" (often, but not always, literally at her house). The videos of that type come in various flavors, many of which can be recognized by simply looking at the thumbnails at her CoverChannel (from oldest videos to newest): at 11 she was singing through a karaoke-type setup, accompanied by a live guitarist (Egil Clausen, in Norway); then she switched to singing over karaoke tracks (probably because she had just moved to the U.S.) with her vocals just picked up by the camera mic; then (at 12) she started working with another guitarist (Ivan Mendez, in L.A.) and using a high-quality mic (a Neumann TLM 102); then she did more karaoke-track covers, but still using the good mic along with some audio editing (I call these her "home studio" covers); and then the videos from "3 years ago" (as I type this) are a mix of various approaches (including some older recordings that she had "in reserve"). I would recommend you pick out one of each type, just based on whichever song titles jump out at you (or based on the view counts, or whatever) - i.e., choose one of the early ones with Egil, one of the later ones with Ivan and the good mic, one with just her face with no mic or headphones, one with the good mic and headphones… that kind of thing. For the record, the particular standouts for me are: "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (age 11), "Stay" (12), "Young and Beautiful" (12), "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart" (13), and "Happier" (back to 12, even though she was 13 when it was posted). There are a ton of other "at home" covers (and behind-the-scenes footage, etc.) on her lesser known Angelina Jordan Fanclub Mosarz channel. Despite the name, it is controlled by her family ("Mosarz" is the name her grandmother uses professionally as a visual artist). They created that channel so they could start posting the hundreds of videos of her they had taken over the years. Oh, and her Official channel also has one "live at home" performance that is highly recommended - not a cover but one of her own songs, "What Is Life" (an "Acoustic" version [at age 12] with two musicians - as opposed to the original studio version [at 11] with a large military band).

Hello again 🙂 Thanks a lot for checking THIS version out as well. This has to be one of her absolutely best performances ever. If you're in for yet another AMAZING performance bu her at age 10 (there are several) then check out her performance of "Summertime" by George Gershwin, performing with KORK (Kringkastingsorkesteret) a renown Norwegian orchestra having won lots of international prizes. Here is the link : kzbin.info/www/bejne/qaXad2eqnpanmMU Much love from Norway (As you keep reacting to her you will realize that age 10 was a VERY special year, even judged by her own standards.)

Here is a statment that was made by another AJ fan, it appears she is keep company with some very important people in the industry: People who attended AJ's 17th BD party. Wow, I recognize 2 people at her birthday! At the 2:19 mark of the video, the short haired lady is legendary songwriter Diane Warren! She has won a Grammy Award, an Emmy Award, two Golden Globe Awards, three consecutive Billboard Music Awards for Songwriter of the Year, and an Academy Honorary Award. Warren has written nine number-one songs and 32 top-10 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 including "If I Could Turn Back Time" (Cher, 1989), "Because You Loved Me" (Celine Dion, 1996), "How Do I Live" (LeAnn Rimes, 1997), and "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing" (Aerosmith, 1998). Two of the top 13 hits in the Hot 100's 57-year history were composed by Warren. She has been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Her UK success saw her win an Ivor Novello Award when she received the Special International Award in 2008. Warren has been nominated for 13 competitive Academy Award nominations without a win; she received an honorary Oscar at the Governors Awards in November 2022. From the 2:22 to 2:29 mark of this video, this looks like actress Angelina Bassett! Bassett had her breakthrough portraying singer Tina Turner in the biopic What's Love Got to Do with It (1993), which won her a Golden Globe Award and a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. This led to starring roles as Betty Shabazz in Malcolm X (1992), as the mother of The Notorious B.I.G. in Notorious (2009), and as Amanda Waller in Green Lantern (2011). Her other notable film roles were in Waiting to Exhale (1995), Contact (1997), How Stella Got Her Groove Back (1998), Music of the Heart (1999), Olympus Has Fallen (2013) and London Has Fallen (2016). She has also played Queen Ramonda in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). For her performance in the latter, she won the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. On television, Bassett has starred as Katherine Jackson in the miniseries The Jacksons: An American Dream (1992). Her portrayal of Rosa Parks in the television film The Rosa Parks Story (2002) gained her a nomination for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress. Her performances in two seasons of the FX horror anthology series American Horror Story, earned her nominations for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2014 and 2015. In 2018, Bassett began producing and starring as a LAPD patrol sergeant in the Fox drama series 9-1-1. I'm checking to see if I can figure out the other people, but still, Angelina having some big stars at her birthday!

Yep that's the right one. Now you need to go to see her turn into Etta James at 12 years old ,, she had just received a new microphone for her birthday and ran back to her room and flipped in the recorder ,, don't know if it was the excitement or in purpose but she sang this cover into the back of the microphone,, and this included a 16second run without taking a breath,,, so you need to hear AJ covering Etta James "I'd Rather Go Blind" make sure she is sitting on her blue couch

Love your Angelina reaction s and the accapella reaction. Would love to see you go down another accapella rabbit hole. Please react to Voctave's Disney Princess Medley, they are an 11 member group. Most or all have sung with Voices of Liberty at Disney in Orlando.
