I think the fact that she speaks five different languages is why she seems to sing like a person with decades of experiance in music. her brain is far ahead of all of us so she appears to be a Genius, Which she is. Her brain is developed superior to most of us . She sings a song in japanese ( Like a river flow) , Its the most beautiful song youll ever hear and not know one word she said. it was performed in japan when she was ten years old. She began to sing to Billie Holiday records when she was three and couldn't speak English, so her ability to grab your soul may have begun then, because you can hear a lot of those old jazz artists in her vocals. She's all that's good in music in one package. She's in my top three favorite vocalist of all time and I'm nearly 74. Thank goodness I lived long enough to experience HER.

Sorry for your loss. My sincere condolences. She has an original that she wrote for the loss of her Grandfather “Million Miles” - it’s very cathartic and healing for anyone who has lost someone. She also has several other originals that all have meaningful relatable lyrics. “What is Life”, “Shield”, “Oslo” and “7th Heaven”. She is currently working on an album and is now back in Norway for several live concerts that will be her first since the pandemic started. I find that Angelina actually impressed me more when she was younger - at the time I could honestly be in awe of her immense talent for her age. Now that she is older and her talent has grown and is being polished, she has outstripped my ability to judge or to be more impressed. To make it look that much effortless, you have to practice a insane lot of time. As Adam Straugham said: "She know her voice inside out". Yor see a 35 year old woman in the body of a fifteen year old girl. Her mind is far older, than her body, and she knows it. The co-commenters told you about her original songs. Albert,. Adele's voice is powerful and it has moved a lot of people's lives. Sebs, for an original of Angelina's, start out with "Million Miles" b&w Studio Version. It will comfort you as you go through your loss. As far as the effortlessness of her singing, Angelina says, "Singing is like breathing to me." Vocal coaches have remarked how Angelina, from a young age, could sing long phrases in one breath that would take other good singers of her age several breaths to sing. Also, she reminds me of the first time I sat courtside at a professional basketball game. Despite the fact I was a lifetime basketball player myself who had played at the college level, I was amazed how gracefully the pro basketball players flowed up and down the court with no wasted motion. That is the level of professionalism and giftedness that Angelina brings to every song she sings. So she makes the difficult look easy. P. S. IMO, by contrast, many pro singers make singing look harder than it is for showmanship purposes (for instance, AJ's version of "It's a Man's World" as compared to the original).

AJ is really two people at once -- a brilliant vocalist who is fully aware of her audience and in full control of her voice, and an emotional artist with the ability to transfer her feeling to others. The combination is just deadly -- essentially that's the definition of musical genius. Her pitch, her range, her musical intuition, her tone, her runs and rifts, her vocal fry -- all are at the highest level. But overall, I think, is her vibrato, which a vocalist could write a book about. AJ sustains vibrato flawlessly as she moves from chest voice to head voice and vice versa. The only vocalist I can think of who comes close to AJ's vibrato is Amy Winehouse.

When you said ‘What a beautiful song’ it made me even more aware of Angelina’s presentation, which also applies to most of her other songs. Comparing this to Adele’s version, we all know how good the star is, but as many times as you hear her sing this song, the beauty of the words themselves are not really ‘felt’. Listen to Angelina’s version just once, and the listener is caught up in not only her voice, but also the lyrics, in which we can almost feel with her.

Thank you for another great reaction to Angelina. :-) It is heartening that so many younger people are beginning to discover her, for I am certain that as they do so they will realise what has been missing from their lives. Another reactor who discovered Angelina very recently referred to her singing as looking at a painting with its many layers and different textures. To my mind, there is no other singer who can match her for bringing out the emotion of a song and conveying those same emotions to her listener. Although it is difficult for those not musically trained or with an innate understanding of the subject, one must rely upon those who have the ability to objectively analyse a performance. In the case of Angelina, may I suggest you listen to Angelina's performance of Adele's performance of "Easy on me" and take note of how she sings the phrase "'Cause what if I never love again?" Angelina completely reconstructed this by elongating and emphasising the word "never" To me, that one difference is a stroke of genius in allowing us to really understand the song. Adele is an awesome songwriter. Angelina embodies each song she sings and the music comes directly from her soul. Since the music emanates from her soul, no extra physical effort is needed. It just flows. Blessed with the most beautiful tone I have heard and her natural instinct for arrangements and vocal choices makes Angelina stand alone, as my all time favorite singer storyteller. What makes her voice and tone seem to wash over so many listeners in waves of emotions? I belive there are several reasons for that. Angelina has the voice she was born whit, and she is, from her inheritance, very naturally gifted for music and song in particular. She started singing as a very young child, and has skipped passed the normal childhood development of knowledge about musical sophistication, in so many aspects. During her childhood she listened to "The Greats" in Jazz, soul, blues, crooning, divasingers etc, and tried to emulate what she heard. You can hear all these influences in her singing. Not everything, all the time, of course. Angelina is way to musically sophisticated to do that. But her arsenal of "tricks" she can "pull out of the hat", in addition to her voice, musicalety and sophistication, makes her an exceptionally emotive singer. She has also taken lessons from a very young age. God given talent, dedication, determination and lots and lots of practice and performing. As a young musician, playing live and playing in a studio is invaluable experience, and makes the musician/singer alot better, alot faster. Angelina has also been collaborating whit, for the most part, professional musicians since age 8. That helps to. Still her talent and what she does whit it, is still remarkable. There is noone like her.

She has had this breath control since childhood. I’ve never understood it either. Also, how many songs has she recorded while sitting down. Another habit she has is throwing her head back while singing. That’s apparently a big no-no because it decreases the opening in the throat or something like that, but it doesn’t seem to faze her abilities. She’s just amazing. BTW, did you know that her last name is Astar?

Sebs, it’s interesting that you looked to Angelina for a more spiritual experience because I just finished watching her sing in Japanese at a concert there. She looks about 11 or 12. Anyway, my point is that about half way through her song I started getting goosebumps and my eyes teared up. How can that be when I didn’t understand one word she was singing? She is able to convey emotion through her voice like no other I have ever heard. Japanese, by the way, is one of the five languages she speaks. It was very beautiful.

For Angelina fans there is no denying that she can bring soul and emotion to any song she sings. As for technique I can only assume that she has natural ability developed by many years of training and practice. She is something quite special. Sebs, always nice to see you react to Angelina! Listening to this is a moment you will never forget. I'm very serious when I wonder what Adele said after she heard this version by Angelina (and I'm very sure she heard it). Just a thought, but as time moves on I believe Adele will actually write songs for Angelina to sing. And, btw, what song writer wouldn't want Angelina to sing their songs? Of course we want to hear Angelina sing original material for us and I'm very sure she will. Lastly, she was born in Norway, she is Norwegian, Swedish, Iranian and Japanese (I wonder if God had something to do with that!) and currently resides in the USA (Los Angeles, Cal). With all of that said, Angelina is from everywhere and relates to everyone and her beauty and soulfulness will be shared by the masses in every corner of our planet. Her love will touch the heart of millions and actually will influence getting everyone on the same page to make the world a better place to live for all, particularly for those less fortunate who have never experienced true happiness in their lives. In regards to describing Angelina as 'out-of-this-world' I can visualize astronauts listening to Angelina singing for them on their voyage to the moon and as they near the end of the trip they will say, "Oh, we're here already? Wow! That was quick!"

@@RobertDeMartin I had a totally secular upbringing, and so, to me, the notion of some higher power is not the default position. Seeing as there is zero evidence for a higher power, then why do people refer to these things as tangibles? I could invent the god "flimflam" and use it as a reference point. Nobody would buy it, though, because I have no evidence. Neither does any religion.
