Absolutely! Every song written comes from the heart and soul of someone... she has the unique ability to be able to find the soul in the words of the song. Even more important she feels it and you feel it just by listening. That is the mark of the best musicians and writers.. I’ve been playing music since I was 11 and am 74 now and still playing, writing and listening. To say I am impressed is an understatement. I rarely have goose bumps and tears listening to music but I have both with Angelina most every time. Love A Million Miles and her book... I pray everyday for her and hope she stays on the path she’s on now and not follow some of our supposedly talented singers. I could and do listen to her everyday. She is so calming!!! When you can shut down the voices in a huge auditorium Of screaming people as she did in AGT Simply by raising a mic to your mouth you have power, so much power!! A singer like Angelina doesn’t need filthy lyrics, a screaming voice, or Dirty dancing half dressed!!!! All she needs is a Mic and a stool, a piano or guitar and the people will come and listen and feel the real power of music!!!!

With her Norwegian, Swedish, Iranian, and Japanese background she needs to tap deeper into something larger than the Anglo-American tradition - and I sense she is doing that as she matures and undergoes life-experiences that she will interpret as only she can.

These three performances constitute three pieces of anthology. The latest of her exceptional recent performances. « I put a spell on you » was one of her childhood. Another unique performance when she was 9-10 years old: « Back to Black », black and white version. This time, she was simulating Ami Winehouse's performances, but as usual, in her own way. The peculiarity of this cover, she modified certain passages of the lyrics to make from this “fokkative” song a “trippative” song. These modifications was her work. So young, so brilliant, truly exceptional!

Yes, I agree with you, sometimes those old jazz/blues songs do have very dark lyrics: too much for a 7-8 years old. But... when the judge asked Angelina what 'Gloomy Sunday' was about, Angelina responded with 'about a bad Sunday'. When she wanted to record 'Back to Black' when she was 10 her mother was not ok with that, because of the young age of her daughter : Angelina did change the lyrics, her version is almost a sad love song, and than it was recorded. And although I am a complete outsider it feels good that there is also good care about the songs she choose to sing: first looking what the song is about and no hesitation to change it so it fits Angelina. The special fact in this is to me that Angelina most of the time writes the new lyrics her self, as she does with most of the musical arrangements. And about the music she sings/write: Angelina has told in an interview this 'When there had not been Billie Holiday in the past there was no singer Angelina Jordan today'. So my guess is that she will remain the very gifted jazz/blues singer in the future as she is today. But... never say 'never', time will tell.

The problem with all performers on AGT is the limited amount of time allowed on the stage. So when you have a song with “rhapsodies” the majority of the song can never be sung. 🌺

I believe that Simon offer her to sign up with him,, but her parents wanted her to still be free to have a child hood and grow up,, so they turned him down,, so the song ment that she wasn't going to go down the yellow brick road of money,, and she will go back to the farm,, "Norway " ,, ,, I think that she wanted to go on that show since she was 3 years old,, and had to wait until her parents would let her,, so for ten years she waited,, and her shirt has her face on it,, ,, her parents are trying to protect her and give her as much time that she needs to grow up and be a kid,, ,, Awesome parents, and she's Awesome !!!

Thank you for insightful, in depth analysis. In answer to your question " is she old enuff to know what she's singing"? the answer is a resounding " yes!" But at a visceral level that many other performers don't reach---California Dreaming, Stay, Autumn Leaves,. Born to Die, Back to Black to name a few. She doesn't so much sing a song as channel the composer's state when writing the song.

Beautiful marathon of wonderful music! Angelina participated in AGTC aware that she probably would not have won (for many reasons), but that this show would have given her a very high evidence and popularity, addressing an audience that up to that point did not know her absolutely. The of her were furthermore exceptional and extremely personal, unique interpretations, a great business card for a 13 year old girl 🤗 ❤️

This is my opinion about the experience Angelina Jordan had at America's got talent. After her first two auditions, I believe AGT understood that Angelina could easily come out on top if she had performed the 3rd attempt without the other two contestants. By Having all 3 contestants perform at the same time AGT knew

With the Golden Buzzer she moved right to the finals. The tee shirt she wore was a creation of her and her grandma and yes it is her face and merch you can buy! Heide and Angelina have maintained a friendship outside of AGT! Angelina finished around 6th. If you want to hear some different Try "I Have Nothing" "The Show Must Go On" and "Born to Die. Of course there are probably another 130 videos out there. I believe she also has 5 originals and 2 songs she was asked to sing on.

The idea was very simple and genius, The sand ladies picture would be behind both Angelina Jordan while she was singing and the small violinist playing no matter how hard or how well Angelina or the violinist did their work everything that they did was seen in the painting and the credit was then attached to the lady doing the sun painting. I noticed when you were Reacting to the performance you also did the same thing. The emotion from Angelina's singing and the violinist was then captivated by the drawing As you were all of that emotion seemed to come out of the drawing. Watch her original, Seventh Heaven, for something very different. It’s upbeat jazz with an infectious beat, and it shows that Angelina is one of the best (in my opinion, best) jazz singers today. Or watch her at 11 giving the crowd gospel-like vibes with “Something’s Got a Hold on Me”. Or either of her versions of Feelin Good show a completely different genre. Regarding your comments on Bohemian Rhapsody-the reason you got goosebumps is that Angelina re-defined the song into a ballad that expressed the sorrow and melancholy of a desperate person. The upbeat chorus you wanted to hear wouldn’t fit there, and also as important, the time limits on AGT performances wouldn’t allow it. I think both Bohemian Rhapsody and Yellow Brick Road show Angelina letting go with full belting that gave you those goosebumps. Im not sure what you’re looking for, but Angelina is not the singer who gives us extremes to show off her voice. I think her choice of those two songs and her arrangements and interpretations were two of the best vocal performances I’ve ever seen.

Great reaction. Your selection of the AGT versions was perfect... often other reactors miss the judges’ comments in their entirety (it’s enjoyable to relive those moments). As to the “sameness” of Angelina’s music... your comment is a fair one, but based pretty much on only what you’ve heard. Her “wheelhouse” is definitely classic jazz, but you will understand what we mean when you hear her do country/pop (Miley Cyrus cover of “Nothing Breaks Like a Heart), or EDM (Electronic Dance Music - “Above The Water”), and many others. I hope you stick around to react to more of her videos. It will be a long but enjoyable journey. I want to finish by complimenting you on your format. A few things. According to other fans, her family has resisted the Simon Cowell machine. Think about the selection of this song, it's meaning and why the tee-shirt. She is definitely going her own path. Next she has had a hand in all her arrangements since NGT. There is a video of her thinking through Summertime with musicians at eight. At nine she has a jam session with musicians reworking Screamin Jay Hawkins wonderful and complex Portrait of a Man as Portrait of a Child. Very clearly she is an equal partner in that. Finally, as to children and emotions. Youngsters are incredibly empathic, picking up on things around them. AJ is clearly that. She listens to things over and over, feels the emotion and channels it through her own experiences. Heartache is heartache, regardless the source. This young lady is the epitome of multicultural and has seen a lot. Remember the shoeless little girl? Remember her charity work? Remember her singing at Nobel Peace Prize concert? There is a story (perhaps apocryphal) about why she chose Gloomy Sunday. About a sleepless night and her mom being worried. I tend to believe it. Set aside the musical talent, this girl is a remarkable human being.

Angelina has some very smart people looking out for her. In my opinion AGT already knew she would not sign with them if she won. If one actually listens to the words of the song - It is a good bye song - she is saying good bye to Simon’s offer and therefore there was no possibility of her winning. She used the show for a million dollars worth of exposure to the world she would direct her own career. I believe she came in 5th (which is unbelievable) Who knows how the voting was done and who the voters were.

It's my (perhaps questionable) understanding that contestants on AGT are limited to about 2 minutes or so for each round. So, you won't hear full versions of songs. Exception in the case of performances such as Angelina's and the other two performers' showcase performance (with the sand art). AGT Champions additionally is a special case, in that participation was by invited winners (and perhaps placers) in various countries' and years' regular contests. For Bohemian Rhapsody you may notice all of Angelina's family (except her father?) in the front row behind the judges.

Lewis Capaldi is from Scotland and Scots generally have a difficult accent to crack :) The song the three of them did was not part of the completion. It was to show off talent. Angelina had already lost when she sang this. Each artist also has a recording of this, where they are featured.

If you want some slightly crazyier stuff from Angelina, check out "Lovin you" from proysenfestivalen. Also, there's the "It's a mans World" with the norwegian military orchestra. Both of them are live concert recordings so the sound is so-so, but she comes through clear enough :)

What is wrong with having a distinctive style? But, if you think she is not versatile you have not really dipped into her repertoire which is over 170 strong. She is gong to make anything she does jazzy. I suggest "Feeling Good"-- the one with the full band inside (she is in white dress), and look at her latest, Suspiciaous Minds," (By the way I'm sure AGT chose the "Someone You Love," due to the other contestants performing with her).

There is absolutely nothing wrong at all having a distinct style. In fact, as I've said, I would consider her a living authority in the jazz style, even from an incredibly young age. But my point is counter to those who say she is the most versatile, woman with 100000 voices, etc. From what I've seen, she has 1 very amazing and impressive voice. She takes many songs from all different genres and brings them into her arena, not the other way round.

I totally agree. My parents watch it and I had the same question. How do you compare the 2? I've come to the conclusion that it's 50% talent and 50% the background story that makes people connect emotionally with the artist

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Secondly, at Norways got talent, she was a 7 year old singing songs about depression, suicide, cheating, marital problems, etc. Even the judge asked her if she knew what the song, "Gloomy Sunday" was about. My kids have walked around the house singing tons of different songs, and I know full well they didn't know what they were about. Do you really hold to the opinion that a toddler/infant (you said any age) has a perfect understanding of the world around them or does it only apply to the infallible Angelina Jordan?

We are the best front of 350 million people and 10,000 10,000 on yet still a performance is 6 foot one now and she still does not wear shoes but she seems on stage she’s on her way to becoming a really famous singer she’s all on the world now she just came she was in Germany. She was in Russia. She was in such a Slovakia, and other countries have been sitting around the world, so she’s on her way to become an international superstar.
