- Who is Angelina Jordan - Angelina is a Norwegian born child prodigy in music. She's a singer/ songwriter who's arranged over 180 covers and 5 originals, all since the age of 7. Angelina began singing at 18 months old. At 2, she began teaching herself how to sing, focusing primarily on the jazz masters of decades gone by. These are artists such as Billie Holiday, Louis Armstrong, Ella Fitzgerald, and Etta James. She's also influenced by Amy Winehouse, Frank Sinatra, Whitney Houston, and Adele, to name a few. She's also been said to be the girl of 1,000 voices. Yet even though we can hear the phrasing and style she puts in the songs, it's always Angelina that we hear. At 7 years old, she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent. She was the last to audition. The judges had no idea who she was or what she could do. They saw a diminutive mussy haired, barefooted girl with her teeth still growing in. For her audition, she performed "Gloomy Sunday" from Billie Holiday. On TV-2, they've reported over 14 million views of this performance. This does not take into account the many hundreds of reactors showing this audition to millions more. Needless to say, Angelina went on to win the 2014 season of NGT shortly after her 8th birthday. The family was bombarded with requests for performances, interviews, and record label offers. They turned down 90% of the requests, as they insisted that Angelina should enjoy a normal childhood. That didn't stop Angelina from performing at select engagements around the world, singing for Heads of State, and even Barack Obama. She's spent time and worked with musicians such as Quincy Jones and Alan Walker. She first appeared on American television, The View, at 8 years old. Angelina auditioned for America's Got Talent The Champions at 13 years old. She made it just up to the final selection of the final 5 when she dropped from the competition. It wasn't that she wasn't good enough to be in the final 5, but it was because she refused to sign with an AGT affiliated label, should she win. She knew very well what production hungry labels could do to her music. She even turned down Disney. At 14, Angelina signed with Republic Records. Republic gave her complete artistic control as well as control over the performances she would make. Angelina is now 16 and lives in LA. She turns 17 on January 10, 2023, and will graduate from high school after the spring semester. From then on, she will embark on her full-time professional career. She's been working closely with Republic on her first album under their label. It's likely that it will drop shortly after her graduation.

The funfact here is, normally, the vocalist feel Honore to work with KORK, a VERY respected Radio orchestra in Norway. But this time it was the other way around, as you can see in the faces of the musicians. Noble woman Angelina Jordan Astar the National Treasure of Norway was a superstar when she was 8. Angelina does not boss around ore be condesent. She is well öoved for her friendliness and highly respected for her sense of music. If Angelina says there was a error, there was an error, like here, it was the second take. She was furious....with herself. While checking the first take in the engineer-booth she discovered, she had failed. MONSTROUS, CATASTROPHY, 😆, the shame to need a second take, at age 10. Pandora I first caught your reaction to Disturbed's "Sound Of Silence" and watching the effect it had on you made me start to explore your channel. I am glad to hear you say you wanted to explore more Angelina Jordan. I wanted to give you a 4 song primer to show you her evolution. Start with her rendition of "I Put A Spell On You" at the age of 9 then her AGT audition of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and then her at 13 yrs old just sitting on a sofa doing "I Would Rather Go Blind" and finish up with her live studio recording of Adele's "Easy On Me". I think this will give you a true feel for how talented this young lady is. Please also check out who a lot of people consider the best voice of this generation, Morissette Amon. Please watch "America Got Talent" Angelina was 13 years old, performing her arrangement of "Bohemian Rhapsody" and her version of "Yellow Brick Road," these songs will show you how Angelina has grown as an Artist. - The Barefoot Princess - Why does Angelina sing barefooted? Angelina Jordan is known as "The Barefoot Princess" or "The Barefoot Princess of Jazz," amongst many other names. She always performs barefooted, whether in front of a live audience or during a studio performance. The story is that while living in the Middle East, at age 6, Angelina came across an orphaned girl, of her own age, sitting in the street, weighing people on a bathroom scale to earn money. Angelina said to herself, "I would like to share her life for one second to know what it is like to sit alone, wet, and damp, and barefoot in a corner of the street." Angelina could see the girl's bare feet were scarred and that it was cold outside, so she offered her own shoes to the girl. Little Angelina says that she really loved her shoes, as they were very nice and she knew she would miss them. But she saw the other little girl’s need for them, which outweighed her own desire to keep them. So she insisted the little girl take them. Angelina called her Princess, even though the girl said she didn't live in a castle, but the ruins of a building next to where she sat. After sharing their hopes and dreams, the little girl said of Angelina's wish to sing for the world, "You will become the one you dream of and when your dreams come true you, have to remember the poor children without shoes; and I will pray for you Angelina.” Later that day 6 y/o Angelina wrote in her diary, "The world is very strange. Right then and there, I felt as if a door in my heart opened up, and it was filled with lots of lights. It was as if there was, from Earth to Heaven, a staircase. I climbed the stairs. To be able to do something for another human - it was such a big thing…hard to describe really.” From that point on, Angelina takes off her shoes, in honor of ‘Princess’ and all the other less fortunate children of the world, who are orphaned, hungry, or in want of even basic clothing. In 2015, at the age of 9, Angelina wrote a book about the encounter, as everyone continued to ask why she sang barefoot. Her grandmother, Mery Zamani, created the artwork for the book. So at 9, Angelina Jordan became the youngest published author in Norway. Angelina has performed alongside many other artists, raising attention and helping to raise over 21 million euros and millions of dollars for children in need.

Others have told you a lot about her and her abilities, from which you will gather she has a very devoted and articulate fan base. She calls the fans her "Angels" and I am proud to be one of them. I discovered her in 2014, at the age of 83, when she auditioned for Norway's Got Talent, singing Billie Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday". If someone had told me that I would become enchanted by a 7-year-old child, with wild hair and missing teeth, I'd have told them they were mad to even think it. But, here I am, some 8 years later, looking forward to every new song she releases and between times watching and listening to performances I've seen and heard many hundreds of times. 🙂 I keep a database of the KZbin channel owners who feature Angelina and from New Zealand there is only one other who first reacted to her on 8 Nov 2022. What did I see? Well, it was a seven-year-old child, with wild hair and gaps in her mouth, where there once were baby teeth. And that was when the perception of seeing a "normal" child ended and things turned upside down. She confidently answered the questions put to her by a Judge. Declared she was going to sing a song by the legendary Billie Holiday. Gestured off-stage for the technician to start the music, and then started singing. The body of the 7-year-old was still there, but the voice wasn't. It was that of a 40-year-old black woman with years of experience singing blues and soul. I was surprised then, and that surprise is still with me, some seven years later. I have followed her career since I saw that first video on KZbin and in the seven years she has been singing publicly she has mastered many musical genres, including Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz, Pop, R&B and Soul, EDM and Rock and covered songs first performed by many famous singers, like Adele, Whitney Houston, Nancy and Frank Sinatra, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Judy Garland, Lana del Ray, Gloria Gaynor, Andy Williams, Elvis Presley, Louis Armstrong and many others. What is more extraordinary is that she takes ownership of every song she sings while still paying respect to the original. She never goes into unnecessary theatrics. Never sings those high or low notes unless they are absolutely necessary. Never projects herself in any performance which says "look how good I am". She just sings the song as she feels it is meant to be sung. And I'll add an even more extraordinary item for you to consider, to show how unique she is. She has the innate ability not only to sing a song as emotionally as the song deserves, but to be able to communicate those same emotions to the listener. As I have noted, I have been following her career a long time and have listened to every interview she has given and every documentary about her and every performance she has ever given. What stands out for me is how a very reserved and humble girl, in her normal life, can be transformed into the perfect vehicle for the song she has chosen to sing. Although the gift of singing and all her performances appear to be effortless, Angelina works very hard to ensure that the one she is going to record reflects what she sees as the correct way to meld both lyrics and melody. She's basically been a star since she was 7 years old. First and foremost, she is a jazz singer but has the ability to sing any genre. She also does all of her own musical arrangements. Her early influences are Billie Holiday, Dinah Washington, and Etta James to name a few. Her love of jazz came from her grandmother playing jazz music around her when she was young. She entered and won Norway's Got Talent at the age of 8. With her new found fame, she used it to appear on many shows from abroad and help raise millions for the less fortunate children around the world. At age 13, she was invited to participate on America's Got Talent: The Champions in 2020. She shocked the audience and the judges with her rendition of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. She received a standing ovation from all and got the Golden Buzzer from judge Heidi Klum to go straight to the Finals. Her performance went viral and even the group Queen responded on Twitter by saying, " Wow, what a rendition!" Not only that, but she received the copyrights for her version of this song from Queen, which makes it hers now. She did not win, but her fan base grew and expanded her popularity. Now 16 years old, living in Los Angeles, and is signed with Republic Records, whose clients include Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, and Drake to name a few. Her family and Republic Records have agreed not to heavily promote her just yet so she can live as normal of a life as possible and finish her schooling. She is working on a new album of original music which will be coming out next year. She recently returned back to Norway and performed at a number of sold out concerts in which fans from around the world came to see her. Many of the fans there said she sounded better live in person and was a once in a lifetime experience. Her fans call her The Barefoot Princess. She always performs with no shoes when she sings. Why? The reason is very special. When she was 6 years old, she was traveling with her family in Iran where she met a shoeless homeless girl in the streets that was about her age. She made money by weighing people. After speaking with her for a few minutes, Angelina noticed the scars on the girl's feet and asked the girl what her dream is. The girl said she wanted to be a doctor but she couldn't because she had to make money for her family. Angelina did what came natural to her, she gave the little girl her shoes and told her to not give up on her dreams. Since then, Angelina has performed barefoot in honor of that little girl and to those who are less fortunate around the world. She keeps this promise to this day. Angelina's Mother Sarah Astar was not happy with the lyrics of the song as being too adult. She insisted Angelina change them if she wanted to do the song. Angelina finished writing them in the car on the way to the recording. My understanding is that they fit so well that KORK had no need to change the arrangement and that to me is astonishing! Angelina's roots are in Jazz. She been listening and studying these icons from the past century since she was 2-3 yrs old on you-Tube. Also Angelina arranges, at least in part, if not in total, total control of all her performances. She has since she was 7-8 yrs old. She knows what she wants and gets exactly what she wants out of the artists and musicians she works with, many of them who are some of the most accomplished in the industry. ♥👣 Some have referred to this as a rehearsal and I will be happy to be corrected by someone who Knows but I suspect this was no rehearsal but a scheduled performance with this performance being the purpose. KORK is the Norwegian National Orchestra known as the Norwegian Radio Orchestra & I don't believe I have heard this performed with this arrangement with these particular members in a live event. She visited an amusement park on the day of and before the performance. I've watched video of her in an interview at the park with a friend. It looks like they had the whole park to themselves. She finished the lyrics on the ride to the recording session. The remarkable thing is that the lyrics fit so well they had no need to change the arrangement. I believe this performance was the second take. Again I will be happy to be corrected on this if I am wrong but regardless this performance was typical Angelina Magic. Long before Angelina got known for her Amy Winehouse covers,people called her "little Amy" or "new Amy" because she loves to have her hair set up like Amy used to,and because Angelina sounds like Amy when she sings. I heard Angelina herself finds that one of the best compliments she has gotten,and is ofc very proud that people think she looks and sounds like one of her favourite singers. Here her mom told her she couldn't sing the original lyrics so she had about 24 hours to revise them. She did this so well no changes were required from the orchestra. 2 takes and done! Angelina Jordan arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). The day before this recording session, Angelina's mom read the Amy Winehouse lyrics and told her daughter she couldn't sing them. Angelina went straight to work, writing new lyrics which fit the music perfectly. She went to the recording session and only needed two takes to make this video. Angelina was 10 years old.

I would finish her 3 other NGT (Norways got Talent performances) there is one more at age 7 and then last two are Age 8. All are amazing. Then it's obligatory to do her rendition of screaming jay Hawkins I put a pell on you (age 9). Most are stunned into silence, even vocal coaches. There are stunning and heart felt performances all along the way at every age. She has around 200 performances in total including recent summer concerts and videos she has released before and after. Most make a pit stop on her three AGT performances at age 13. She is now just turned age 17 on January 10th 2023. She has raised millions for children's charities. The story of why she only performs barefoot is that she met a homeless and shoeless child when traveling with her parents when she was 6. She gave the child the boots off her own feet. She signed with Republic records at age 14, but has been going slow, no promotions and she has only ever done concerts all over the world when school is out in the summers.

A surprising choice for your first reaction to ANGELINA but I guess because you are a Amy fan . ANGELINA age 10 here and if I recall she wasn't happy with the first performance in the recording studio . as so often with ANGELINA she is experimenting with different vocal styles as would be expected at such a young age .I'm not a fan of Amy Winehouse but ANGELINA is fond of her and has performed around 6 songs but I can't say any of them are my favourite ANGELINAS performances. Just one last point if young artists wait to be a certain age to be able to perform songs deemed inappropriate for them , they would be restricted to singing " twinkle twinkle little star " many young artists change lyrics to be more age appropriate otherwise they would be severely restricted in their song choices.as a Amy fan perhaps you're expectation was to much from a ten year old.

I must say: That I can tell by the look on your face you are being polite and that's okay. But if you are going to do a cover of The Queen Amy Winehouse. Don't change all the words. If her mother told her that she couldn't sing that specific song then she should have waited until she was of age. No disrespect to the young lady but NO, NO, NO, NO, NO it didn't work for me SORRY.

You're taking things far to seriously , this is a ten year old who as she often does is experimenting with her vocals as would be expected at such a young age. ANGELINA is fond of Amy Winehouse and so covered this song and some others I'm not a fan of Amy winehouse so I can't say any would be in my favourite angelina performances. but she is brave and covers many songs from numerous different artists from age 6 warts and all including in a recording booth age 6 performing " I have nothing " ( Whitney Houston) if she had waited to be , "of age" the vast majority of her renditions would never have been recorded including her 1st audition for NGT( Norway 🇳🇴 got talent) aged 7 " gloomy Sunday " a suicide song which again the lyrics were changed to be more aged appropriate .many young artists do this it's not unusual for them to alter the lyrics otherwise wise they may be restricted to sing " twinkle twinkle little star " .

I can tell by the tone of your comment that you are a AMY WINEHOUSE superfan , so I doubt you would have given any credit at all to ANGELINA even if she gave a perfect world class performance so not surprised by your comments of a 10 year old performing a far from perfect rendition .no credit at all.
