Hello Ceci. Thank you very much for your reaction to Angelina's new cover. I believe that in her last two covers "All I Ask" and in this one she's maybe showing us the musical direction of her upcoming album. It's gonna be interesting beyond words to listen to that album. The musical talent and vocal skills needed to not only get away with, but to NAIL a performance like this is quite impressive, let alone by a 15 year old girl. I've been waiting for your reaction since I watched Big Angel Fan's reaction to this music video, and he said he wouldn't talk about her vocal skills and technique and suggested that I wait for your reaction. I'm so glad you enjoyed it as much as you did. I enjoyed it when you indicated you couldn't duplicate what she was doing, even though I have seen you capture some of her abilities with your voice in previous reactions. Again, Angelina chooses to cover a song that is universally identified with the original artist. With Bohemian Rhapsody, or California Dreamin, or just recently, Heal the World, we kind of worry that maybe she should leave that one alone. But, no worries. You always hear Angelina’s respect for the original even when she gives us something completely different. And, like Billie Jean today, we get very jazzy, bluesy vocals with riffs, runs, and a lot of humming and vocalizations-but we understand the lyrics much more cleanly. This one was particularly interesting because Angelina can’t change the lyrics to a female perspective, as we’ve heard her do with other covers. But, of course, it doesn’t matter because we’re immediately hooked by how she’s decided to deliver this song we thought was untouchable. So far, I think her decision to go with Republic Records has proved to be a great choice. We’re definitely seeing an expanded palette of music, but the Angelina we’ve loved for years and years is still there, leaning on her blues and jazz influences in different ways. (I’m waiting for some covers of Janis Joplin.)
