There are little flaws from time to time, but she doesn't stop the take and start over she just keeps going. It's like watching a great artist sketching. They aren't trying to do a finished artwork they are exploring ideas, trying out different interpretations. She's experimenting with her voice and listening to what it does as she's singing. It's like she's always pushing for something new and unknown come what may.

At just 12 years old, Angelina sits down and delivers a vocal that is at least as good as (and IMO surpasses), the vocal of one of the most highly regarded singers of current times. The amount of natural emotion she conveys with this is something that is on its own level. Many of the things you pointed out could be viewed as 'mistakes', but I find it's all those things that make her so special. The little breaks, the way she dances around the notes, and plays with the timing... they all make it so organic and captivating. Having listened to so much Angelina, I am of the opinion that nothing she does is unintentional. She knows what it sounds like in her head, and that's exactly what she delivers to us.

@@CECIDOVER I appreciate that you point out all those things. I think that Angelina has something undefinable that makes her unlike anyone else I've ever heard. If you can try to define some of it and pass it on to other singers, I am all for it. ...but I also think that there is an element to her that comes from within that just can't be taught or learned... it's just in her.

You are a vocal coach and it is your job to analyze the voice and its difficulties. But I think Angelina Jordan is beyond vocal analysis. She was born special with this gift, this beautiful soul almost spiritual when she sings. If you look at her behavior, her gestures, her face which are in harmony with her incredible voice, her magical nuances, and that without artifice, without cheating, you see that this young woman is natural, humble, authentic and even pure. She never seeks to seduce, nor to pretend. It is simple and uncluttered. Looks like she has no ego and she sings like a mountain stream or a starry sky which are so beautiful. Like a sun she shines, she gives, she warms souls and asks for nothing. It cannot be copied. I think people are feeling it and that's why AJ touches so many people. For that it is undoubtedly something unique in the world. You just have to listen in silence and thank the life for this gift.

@@CECIDOVER I think all of Angelina's "Angels" (fans) recognise and appreciate that your analysis is technical and you "must call it as you hear it". When @philippe sibille remarks "But I think Angelina Jordan is beyond vocal analysis" he is not saying that an analysis of her technical ability is unnecessary but expressing the opinion of many of us, in that "HOW" she is able to do what she does in every song she performs is beyond vocal analysis. I struggled for years to find an explanation but, alas, there are no suitable words in English to do so. Now I just use the word "Angelina" and that explains it all to my satisfaction,

@@CECIDOVER Hello - Hello - I didn't mean to offend you and I respect your work as a vocal coach which is very useful. I'm sorry if I hurt you. I'm just saying that this young girl was born with this gift and this very rare soul. She has this magnificent voice that gives naturally magical emotions since she was born even though she improves it over the years. The most incredible of all is not even her voice but that she does it naturally without artifice, with simplicity, humility, like her behavior, her gestures and her smiles. There are great singing artists who have a lot of ego and who do everything to be admired. You can see that AJ is not like that. She has a delicate, loving, spiritual and pure soul when she sings and this is what deeply touches all who listen to her, which is exceptional in a world of violence and ego. This is why even by working on the voice, the other singers will not be able to imitate this beauty there. Good continuation in your work as a coach.

@@alberttenfoot Hello - thank you for your answer - that's exactly it - there are other wonderful voices in the world of many kinds of songs even if they are rare. AJ also has this extraordinary quality of singing so young but in addition she also transmits a spiritual quality as if she came from another world - It shows even in her looks. There is no word to explain it, but it seems that this young woman is like a crystal, so much she transmits purity, goodness, and beauty of soul. This is why it seems unique. This is why I speak of silence and beauty when we listen to it as we listen to the song of mountain rivers or when we watch the stars shine.

Ceci, your obvious emotional connection with Angelina's singing mirrors my own reaction though I don't have the technical aspect that you bring. Your voice and your facial expression show the delight you feel and it warms my heart because I am right there with you!!! I really believe, since she's been singing complex pieces from an early age, that she has learned to adapt the limitations of her voice to fit the style she is performing at that moment. There's a degree of creative genius, and I don't think that is too strong a word, that guides her when she's singing. I suspect that her mind is trying to express her vision of what she wants so she has had to adapt the limitations of her young instrument to the song. I believe the most obvious instance of this is her performance of Etta James' "At Last". There are several places where her voice breaks and places where she doesn't quite reach the note, yet it sounds perfect. Here is the link: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmKck4RvfpKHY8k In A Million Years Ago Angelina's voice fatigued so that the low note she sang early in the song gave her trouble later on. This piece is one of her own compositions where she uses her wonderful low range throughout the song without any noticeable fatigue (at least not to my ear). I am struck by the incredible richness and depth in her voice. This tune is a pop/jazz cross that I just love and I hope that you will also. "Shield" is the name of this song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLXhpWMgMdjrNU I'm including this one because I don't know where Angelina learned how to be a gospel singer but I swear that a reincarnated Etta James came to visit us! Here Angelina shows us how she can captivate an audience. Here's Etta - rather Angelina singing "Something's Got a Hold On Me". kzbin.info/www/bejne/inTGZYygp85mpsU Ceci, I'd be thrilled if you would react to any of these songs because I believe with all my heart that you would love them as much as I do and I would love to hear what you hear in these songs. To me they are master works of a stunningly beautiful soul.

She is 12 years young here and I believe that since she was six and up to last year ( and probably for ever), she’s been teaching herself the voices and notes other great artists have, leaning how to use them to perfection so as to add colors reflecting the emotion of the music and lyrics. This is why I think so many listeners cry when they hear Angelina sing. Her ability and dedication and commitment she has to learning and refining her instrument since such an early age is proof (to me), that this young lady was born to sing. Once she becomes a global house-hold name, I believe many new artists, especially young ones, will study her voice to learn musical colors and convey emotions. That you CECI for such a great reaction. There’s at least two songs I know where Angelina uses her low notes almost exclusively through out, one is called “How Great Thou Art” the other escapes me now, but when I find it, I’ll add it here. Take good care and stay healthy.

@@lengould9262 You have to think in terms of a human chameleon, with an ability to process a song and formulate a response vocally that present's it in her desired interpretation . Yes, she was reading the lyrics. I found this comment: Angelina sits with Ivan and she goes: “Let’s do Adele!, I have to read the lyrics because I don’t know them”. Then she blows it out of the park.

Funny that you said she has long fingers like a pianist as she does actually play the piano amongst other instruments.. Check out her cover of wicked game by Chris Isaacs as she plays the piano as well as sings.. I think you will be very impressed.. It's actually one of my favourites.. XXX 👍😘😘🇬🇧

Great analysis and thank you for all the information you provide in your videos. I think many of these covers Angelina has recorded has been a way for her to explore new territory and to test the limits of her voice. I'm sure she's recording a lot of her practice sessions and listen back at them to analyze and improve. The way she's chosen to sing this song must make the performance very difficult. One thing that really stands out from Adele's original is the softness in her voice in the chorus. Where Adele is more or less belting those high notes, Angelina barely whispers them. It must make it a lot harder to control the voice - or am I wrong? BTW, it's no wonder that Ivan also _feels_ the song as you said. We can feel it through the recording, so just imagine having her beautiful voice less than a meter from your ears.

Ceci I truly enjoy your reactions to our barefoot princess. Angelina does often look at her lyric sheet but I recently learned she makes notes of which words she has trouble pronouncing. English is her third language after Norwegian and Farci but she also speaks Japanese and Swedish. A good observation Angelina has long fingers as she has now grown to more than 6 feet tall. Angelina does play piano and guitar along with flute and violin (although have not seen her play those). One of my favorite performances by Angelina is "Cry Me a River" from a 2017 concert when she was 11. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oIebeXyMgZeJeqc&ab_channel=BorisPalenovski

You notice right, she often read the Lyrics of the Song while she is singing. She sang so much Songs, that this gives her more Security not to stumble across a word. But all melodies she has so well in mind. When you look to some concerts there lay all Songs in front of her feets

Gracias por ahora y hasta mañana 🤗❤️

I'm Glad you did this one. Watching some of the other reactors completely fall apart is something to see. I often say Witness instead of watch, because we are witnessing something special here. I have made a couple of other comments as well, like "No words", but more over "She Is" and everyone around the world knows!

You hit the nail on the head when you said the folds separated in two places and the note was cut short and then the folds didn't hold. I thought I was crazy as no other vocal coaches mentioned it. I often hear notes that are slightly off, incomplete or a tiny bit off key in certain songs I hear by different artists. I just didn't know the physicality behind it. Thank you for explaining it perfectly and giving the hand positions so I could picture it. I loved Angelina Jordan from the first moment I heard and saw her on Norway's Got Talent singing Billy Holiday's "Gloomy Sunday" as her first song. She sang better and better as she went along. I was amazed at her talent at 7 years old! She has said she LOVES to sing, that she goes to a special place when she sings where it's the song telling her it's feelings. She literally feels the song.

¿Dedos largos? En efecto. En general, es una "gran" persona. Si no me equivoco, ya medía 1,80 metros a sus 13 años. Mi recomendación para la próxima: "I'd Rather Go Blind" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnybnoCOhsdmlas). Cortita pero muy interesante si te gusta su vocal fry. Como anécdota en este vídeo, le acababan de regalar el micrófono y lo sostiene al revés. Gracias por tus vídeos.

I enjoy your reactions to Angelina, but I would like commenting to your expectations of what she is trying to do (like too many other reactors). At ab. 7:00 you say you find her uncomfortable, wanting to belting out the high note and the note being too high for her to do that. (I am depending on the English subtitles). I do not think she wants any belting in this song. - And more: I am pretty sure that if she had wanted to belting out the high note, she would have done so! Top notes are powerful in themselves. Belting them out makes them more powerful. But in this song the point is not stepping on the gas to display power. As you probably know, you can put attention to notes in many ways. One way is to reduce the volume like when you are playing a crescendo movement upwards and then hits the top note very softly! This may create a tremendous emotional impact. And that is the intention I read behind what to you seems like uneasiness. Yes! - I am very convinced that Angelina does this exactly as she wants it to be done: Creating a feeling of distress and uneasiness by doing the unexpected opposite of the expected belting; letting the high notes stand out by holding them back! - Which fits the lyrics beautifully and is part of making her performance better and more emotional than Adele's.

You said: "Yes! - I am very convinced that Angelina does this exactly as she wants it to be done:..." I totally agree with you. Angelina's innate ability to recognise the emotions within the lyrics and melody of a song allows her to "tailor" her notes to reflect what she wishes to achieve and to convey those emotions to her listener. In my view, there is no other singer performing today who is able to do this.

@@berniemahan8651 You know, in addition to the many charity concerts she has performed in around the globe, even most if not all of that which she received at age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent was donated to charity. I believe she has been blessed by God ever since she decided to take off her own shoes and give them to the poor kid she met in the streets of the mid-east when she was 6. I base this thought on the words of Mother Teresa who said that 'God hath no greater love than for those who come to the aid of a stranger in desperate need'. She went on to explain that God had come to her in her thoughts and made it clear that he knows we will help family and friends but that when this is extended to a stranger, that is what impresses him the most. You may not believe she was in thought communication with God but then you have to explain to me how, as a young adult, she went into the slums of Calcutta and personally aided people infected with many diseases including dreaded leprosy, holding many in her arms when they were near death because she felt no one deserved to die alone if it was at all possible to prevent it? Ironic, that she had no fear in life, and Angelina has no fear when it comes to singing, no matter the size of the audience, ever since she was 7.

@@berniemahan8651 It was when she gave her shoes to the poor girl in the mid east that she made a vow to never wear shoes when performing to bring attention to all those poor people who can't even afford a simple pair of shoes. Even when performing outdoors in the Winter in Norway she doesn't wear shoes. When she makes a vow it is something 'locked in stone' !

Some slight strain in a few small parts as you noticed. Of course what most people don't realize and you know this, she is sitting down, NOT the optimal position for singing! We know that she was 12 year because she got that microfon at her 12 year birtday. I guess that this song was one of her first with the new microfon ( because of the breating ). I also guess that when she song "Born to die" she put up the shield ( sorry dont know the real name for it ) for to stop the breating sound. I finaly guess that because of that many reactors and fans did not like to not be able to see her mouth she in later songs changed the angel of the camera. A lot of guessing LOL
