That was exactly my reaction when I first heard her at AGT 😃 I suggest to first check out the video of when she was 6 years old in a studio singing 'I who have nothing'. The recording is not perfect, but it shows her talent that she had at a very young age already.

Angelina is the most amazing, vocal artist I've seen in my life & I've been listening since the '60's. She has a voice that she plays like an instrument, or I say like an orchestra. The voice she used here is only one of her many different voices she can use to fit a song perfectly. Time & time again reactors say about Angelina, "her voice is just perfect for this song." No, she adjusts her voice to sound perfect for the song & that's why one of her many fan nicknames is "Angel Of 1000 Voices." She covers multiple genres, styles & eras of music from the early 20th century to today. Many talented young vocalists believe they have to impress you with every vocal technique they've got, particularly belting, in every single song. Thank-you for being the first "reactor" to mention what I have always thought was Angelina's most significant comment during her per-performance interview, when she mentioned that she had been waiting to sing for Simon for 10 years. If that alone doesn't explain how early in her life her musical instincts had come to the forefront...what possibly could? A 3 year old already dreaming of singing for a man who (for better or worse) was recognized world-wide as a person who could recognize and appreciate true talent.

You have fallen into the vortex of Angelina Jordan who arguably brings the most confident, versatile, seemingly effortless, and fearless vocal artistry found today (whether measured across artists, genres, or decades). You may think this an exaggeration but listen to a few more of her many performances (125+ covers plus original songs - all on YT) and you will see! She has been performing at a high level all over the world since age 8 when she won Norway's Got Talent singing Billie Holiday , Nancy Sinatra , and Gershwin. It is the rare singer that can, as Angelina has done, go from Queen to "Screamin" Jay Hawkins to Adele to Elvis to Whitney Houston to Etta James to Amy Winehouse (and many others in between) and do them all justice! If you want to hear music, listen to anyone. If you want to feel music, listen to Angelina. She will stagger you with her ability to find and bring forth the 'essence', the emotional message of nearly any song. You have far to go with Angelina. She is equally comfortable and equally able to impact us whether singing a cappella, accompanied only by a piano or guitar, in front of professional studio musicians or a 40 piece military band. Many thanks for taking my request to react to Angelina Jordan. Impossible to understand so few people know of Angelina so us angels (fans) do whatever we can to share the MAGIC. Angelina has seemingly from birth, created her own arrangements then delivered a song unlike any other I know of in my 62 years. Her musical instincts are through the roof and her voice makes one believe that all the great vocalists in heaven conspired together and poured all their talents into this humble girl who is filled with empathy. Please take the time to read the biography I compiled for, IMO, the ONLY one who was truly born to sing. Born Angelina Jordan Astar on January 10, 2006 in Oslo, Norway to her Norwegian mother, Sara Astar and her Swedish father, Gerry Christian Slattman, who has chosen to keep his life private. Angelina started singing around 18 months of age after listening to Whitney Houston on KZbin. She quickly became obsessed with listening to music videos and her maternal grandmother, Mery Zamani got Angelina interested in classic jazz. Mery Zamani is Iranian and was considered a prodigy as an artist and poet and married a Japanese man who passed away in 2019. Angelina speaks Norwegian, Farci, English and Japanese. Angelina attended the Oslo Waldorf School and participated in the Oslo School of Music and Performing Arts after-school program, where she received vocal training starting around age 4. Angelina plays the piano, violin, guitar and flute and also paints. More recently she along with her grandmother have designed and made the clothing she wears on stage. At age 6, while traveling in the Middle East with her mother and grandmother, Angelina noticed a girl around her age standing on the side of the road asking people to step on her bathroom scale to be weighed in hopes of getting some money. Angelina befriended this girl who was wearing soiled clothing and no shoes. Angelina asked the girl what she wanted to be when she grew up and the girl replied, “I want to become a doctor, but that will never happen since I have no parents and I have siblings so I have to do whatever is necessary for us to survive.” The poor girl asked Angelina what she wanted to be when she grew up and Angelina replied that she wanted to sing for the whole world. The poor girl said she would pray every day so Angelina’s dream would come true. Angelina so moved by the poor girl, took off her favorite sea green ankle boots and gave them to the poor shoeless girl. Angelina promised the girl she would perform barefoot until every child on Earth has shoes. Angelina still says she thinks of that homeless girl every day and has always performed barefoot. At age 9, she became the youngest published author in Norway’s history by writing a book about this encounter in the Middle East. Angelina asked her mother to enter her in Norway’s Got Talent (NGT) at age 5 but that talent show had a minimum age requirement of 7. Angelina at age 6 did record a few songs in a recording studio, most notably “I Who Have Nothing”, a truly remarkable performance for a 6 year old. Angelina is blessed with a deep voice with a beautiful rich tone and has always made her sound much older than her age. Many compare her voice to that of Amy Winehouse. Her voice is highly emotional which is very rare for a young girl and some people can’t accept that such a soulful voice can come from someone who has not had enough life experience. One vocal coach on KZbin recently said, “If you have a song and want to have more emotion added to that song, have Angelina sing it.” At age 7, Angelina’s audition on NGT was a cover of Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”, a song which was banned by a number of European countries during World War II because authorities worried the song would increase the suicide rate. Truly bizarre that this is the song to launch the career of a child musical prodigy. One of the judges on NGT cried. The next performance on NGT was her cover of Billie Holiday’s “I’m a Fool to Want You” singing acapella which was required by NGT unless the singer also played an instrument while singing. This was the Judge’s cut round of the competition and was not performed in front of an audience. Angelina’s acapella performance is astounding especially for a girl who had just turned 8. In the Semi Final round of NGT, Angelina sang “Bang Bang” which was written by Sonny Bono and was first performed by his wife Cher but is best known sung by Nancy Sinatra. The improvement in each performance is incredible even though there were only a couple months between them. In the Finals, Angelina did a cover of George Gershwin’s, “Summertime” and won the contest, capturing 46% of the votes from the ten finalists. Angelina had become a star in her native Norway and her videos on KZbin went viral. She gave a few concerts during the summer of 2014 while 8 years old. On June 27, 2018 Jordan performed “Fly Me to the Moon” for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London.

Kevin Neal Hi, I truly enjoy your reactions to Diana, she is amazing and one I must listen to at least once every day. Angelina is also one I must listen to everyday. I always suggest to everyone I feel it is best to go back to her beginning on NGT and listen to her very first audition, actually all four of her auditions on that show. She can sing most genre and since her beginning at 7 either does completely or has a deciding hand in her arrangements of what ever song she is singing. She has written four songs that we have heard, her first album with Republic is reported to be all her original music. Jazz is her special genre but she covers most other genre either as good or better that the original artist. She has covered Adele, Lana Del Ray, and most jazz artists either old ones or new ones like Amy Winehouse.

She has more than 130 covers, rehearsals, and original videos on YT. You should google and find out why she always appears barefoot in her public performances. There is a good reason why Republic Records signed a contract with her last year at 14 yo after the AGTC show. Some fans refer to her as the girl with 1000 voices. By the way, the Queen Band members gave her high praise for performing this song. She is a child PRODIGY and arranged this herself as she has done with all of her songs since 8 years old! There are many videos showing her explaining to the band how she wants the song played. She has spoken fluent English since early childhood in addition to Farsi and some Japanese. She has been singing professionally since winning Norway's Got Talent and has performed for world leaders and at many charity events and helped raise millions for different causes. She will soon be a superstar and many people will want to go back and watch her progress through 130+ videos since age 6 which is a rare treat. You will be inundated with comments saying that Angelina is the best singer they’ve ever heard. You’ll think the comments are exaggerations by people who are rabid Angelina fans. Well, yes, I’m one of those fans because Angelina is the best singer I’ve ever heard, and that is true across many different genres. You just have to listen to several more songs and you will become one of us. That is a guarantee. Two suggestions (but I could give you 25 with no trouble): To see how incredible she is, watch her at seven years old on Norway’s Got Talent covering Billie Holiday’s “Gloomy Sunday”. This was her debut to the public. To hear one of the most beautiful voices you could ever imagine, watch Angelina sing “Stay”, a cover of the Rihanna song. I’ll stop there-but you won’t. And as always for anyone new to Angelina, here is a little bio so that you can learn a little more about her background and her kind and caring soul....... *Angelina Jordan* - Angelina Jordan was born Jan 10 2006 in Oslo, Norway. She is currently 15 - She began singing at the age of one and a half - At 2 or 3 she discovered Jazz through her grandmother and started studying all the greats from Jazz history with youtube videos. - *Why Angelina always sings barefoot* - When Angelina was 6 years old, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. Can I politely ask for "Bang Bang" (7 years old) and "California Dreaming" (12 years old) ?? Excellent reaction, and spot on. There is very little more enjoyable than listening to Angelina & at the same time a first time reaction :-) We are somehow jealous, cause once we heard her we can never go bak and have this experience first time. However, amazingly enough she brings us to tears even after seeing her hundred times, not sure why.

Thank you for your reaction video. I've read all the comments below and there is little that hasn't been covered about Angie. No one mentioned why she spent time in the U.S. and finally moved there. First, her father brought her to the U.S. frequently on business when Angelina was young, maybe up to the time she was 5 or 6. But, as mentioned below, she exhausted the singing teaching capability of Norway and so she, her Mom, and uncle, who is her manager, made the move to Los Angeles (her uncle discusses this in detail in an interview). In one of her original songs, she sings, "Forgive me for who I am," and it is thought to be an apology to her Mom for uprooting them and for the exorbitant amount of time that was necessary to feed Angelina's career. It was not directly mentioned that her Mom is Norwegian, her maternal grandmother is Iranian (a well-known artist and poet), her late grandfather was Japanese, and her father is Swedish (and his family too). I partly attribute Angie's exceptional abilities to that wonderful mix! I am looking forward to seeing more of your reactions to Angelina's works soon.
