Seriously, in my opinion this was not an audition this was Angelina's coming out mini concert to the rest of the world that has not had the honor to witness her vocal artistry. She owns the stage the minute she steps on it. The bare footed princess of song has entered the building... Angelina's opening phrase just mesmerizers and masterfully commands everyone's full silence and awe of her vocal artistry. She has fulfilled her stated dream when she 6 years old of becoming a super star , however, she has now gone way beyond that and has now become a Jazz singing living legend barely starting her teenage years of life. Someone said, recently, as you hear more and more of Angelina, you cease to be surprised but are always amazed. Well said. Angelina is not just another great singer that can be put in particular box of singing style or genre. She is a fine musical instrument comparable to a Stradivarius violin, when it is put in the hands of master musician has the ability to play any song and any genre type of music at will... Welcome to the world of Angelina Jordan, I've been one of her "Angels" for about 2 years now & am totally in awe of her vocal & emotive skills. I have never had a singer effect me like she does. She brings out the emotion of the lyrics better than anyone I've seen. She regularly gives me the chills & often makes me cry, sometimes because of the meaning of the lyrics but sometimes because it's just so frickin beautiful. She is like a drug. Justin, thank you for your insightful reaction to this Angelina Jordan performance. It is obvious that you are a true professional who understands the technical and artistic aspects of vocal music. As a retired music educator and jazz musician, I hold Ella Fitzgerald as the gold standard for embellishments, riffs, runs, whatever you want to call them. She would not only emulate the improvisation of the great instrumentalists of her day, she created her own style that set her apart from everyone else. She always stayed within the changes of the music and never did too much or too little, just the right amount. So many of today's singers do "vocal gymnastics" without really understanding the musicality that is required to be artistic. Through training and sheer innate ability, Angelina "gets it" and we, her audience, are immensely fortunate to listen to her artistry. I like to think of her as the Barbra Streisand of the 21st century. Not because their voices are alike, but because Angelina will be as much or more of a superstar as Barbra was in her prime.

Excellent reaction!! You're right about her ability for vowel modification, breath management and voice control. When asked if she was ever nervous, Angelina said "no". She still doesn't understand the word "nervous" even after it was explained to her by her English teacher.

History was made, If anyone's brave enough to do this song, they'll be doing her rendition of the song & they'll be compared to her, for it's her song now. Think of it , she took a iconic classic rock opera & stripped it down & turned it into a jazzy/bluesy soulful ballad. Please support her music, CD's, iTunes, ect.. Put her on your playlist...To help keep the Hollyweird cult away from her. So many (even Disney) producers have been trying to get her to sign her. @Rosannasfriend Maybe not there, but you'll find her doing it in some of her other performances: modified vowels, dropped consonants or vocal distortion. As in "Ain't No Sunshine", where, instead of "gone", she sings "gawn" or in "I Put a Spell on You", SHE sings "DOW-un", instead of "down" or her use of vocal fry distorting "without" in "It's a Man's World."....These are just a few examples, but by no means, all the vocal ornaments in her toolkit. And all of it is pure genius.

She became 14 on 10 January 2020. She has been singing publicly since the age of 7. the first video of her singing in a recording studio was at the age of 6. And, take this aboard. She is 6' 1" (183cm)in height! Believe me, there is no other singer like her. Simon Cowell remarked he had never heard this version before,and he was right because Angelina rewrote it for the performance. She took the words of the lyrics she wished to use and then rearranged them, and then rearranged the music, until she was sure that both truly reflected what she wanted to achieve in her performance. I found it hauntingly beautiful. If you continue to react to her many performances, and I hope you do, you are in for many pleasurable hours of excellent performances and your life will be changed for ever I have listened to everything she has published on KZbin and have often been surprised at her versatility - she can sing Blues, Country, Disco, Jazz,Pop, R&B and Soul, and Rock - I have listened to everything she has published on KZbin and have often been surprised at her versatility but never disappointed by her performance. Listening to Angelina perform is an emotional experience in itself. In an imaginative moment I likened Angelina to a chameleon, inasmuch as a chameleon adapts its colour to blend with the surroundings, so Angelina adapts the "colour" of her voice to convey the emotions of the song and communicate those emotions to the listener. She has over 120 covers and other videos that she has recorded between the ages of 6 and 14 which is her current age. She has already established herself as an established jazz artist. Her preferred genre is Jazz but she has done covers of about every genre you can name. What you will find in Angelina is a vocalist who doesn't do vocal gymnastics, she simply and beautifully interprets the story and meaning of the song and pours her soul into every performance. Angelina has sung for Barrack Obama, Quincy Jones, Nobel Laureates, the king of Sweden, the king of Norway, and other dignitaries. She has performed everywhere from small weddings of a few people, to London's O2 stadium with 40,000 people. She performs at jazz festivals, conferences, and charity benefits. At the age of 14, she is a seasoned performer with 8 years of recording and performing. Many of her live performances when she was 10, 11, and 12 years old blow away even the original adult performers of the songs she sings. She is definitely worth your time to experience and get to know. First, did you know she was thirteen when this was recorded? Angelina says she is never nervous before she sings. She said on Skavlan when she sings she goes to another world, it's endless. I was so happy hearing you refer to "dancing around a note." To me, there are singers who can sing each note, loud to soft, on pitch. They sing each note but that is it. Angelina dances with her notes. She dances around, up and down her notes. A single note becomes three as she sings into the next. I can't stop listening to her.

I quite like your sensitive technical approach on Angelina`s voice. Whereat I´d prefer to say that her voice is floating and not dancing around those musical themes. Such term might also be a hint on her general approach on and relation to music, the reason for her non-nervousness and the ease she's is singing with since it appears not to exhaust her in the slightest and to be a just a part of her natural breathing process. I truely believe that Angelina is a musical genious. Somebody has that ability to always get the pitch right. And she has said she is not nervous, she gets so into the song, I guess if she could, she would prefer to keep her eyes closed during the whole performance. FYI...Simon required for her to sign an exclusive contract with his company, in order for her to win AGT, and she gave her answer with this song. If you look closely, you'll notice she is wearing a t-shirt with a picture of her as a child, when she won Norway GT. when she begins to sing, she gives him a glance and clearly he got the message, hence his stone cold face. Yellow brick road is a metaphor for a road of richness that I'm sure he (Simon) was proposing, and she obviously said no, so "Good bye Yellow Brick Road." Absolute genius.
