I can’t recall any other Christmas singer with a sound like this. Not sure about this song but all of the rest were taken from her pay per view special two years ago age 15. Jimmy Z was the sax player and Sinatras piano player, Rob Christy on Guitar and a few other old school people from Sinatra and other classic performers.

This proves the 1000 voice moniker she's been given. It sets her apart from the singers she gets compared to. They didn't and don't have the ability to sing with so many different styles, they had and have natural limitations. I love the soothing emotion this song has. It has little bit of a Sade Adu sound.

I think this introductory song on the EP gets us in the Christmas spirit and also set the mood for the sophisticated jazz vibe on other songs. I like her choice of this voice (out of her 1,000 available) which gives us nostalgic, almost dreamy, thoughts of Christmases that we want to remember. The back and forth between Angelina and the sax is beautiful. My favorite on the EP is The Christmas Song. Angelina shares the time with that great jazz band you would listen to even if Angelina wasn’t singing. It’s just beautiful Christmas music, and Angelina makes another classic song her own with easy jazz that’s from the last century.

The more I listen to it, the more I appreciate it, and the more impressed I am by this young woman's musical sense, right from her very beginning. I heard the original. Nice, but I really really prefer this one. Have already listened to it probably 20 or 30 times. Absolutely love the sax. Makes me homesick.
The whole EP is great, but I've heard the other songs many times, even though Angelina's versions are a cut above the rest, and the musicians are a real class act. But "Driving Home for Christmas" is fresh and new (for me). The saxophone intro sets the mood and then Angelina's velvety tone takes it to a whole other level. The interplay between her voice and the sax throughout the song is something I want to listen to over and over again. I bought the EP on iTunes as soon as it came out and burned it to CD. Now I can play it in the car, and also on any of my iPod stations throughout the house.

This tone is unique to this song in comparison to the rest of the songs on this EP. I absolutely love “The Christmas Song”(Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire). Beautiful the Angelina's choice to finally make some of songs sung in her wonderful Christmas concert 2 years ago accessible to everyone in this EP, I loved them then and I love them even more now. This unpublished rendition of "Driving home" by Chris Rea, is beautiful, perfect in the musical accompaniment in countervoice from the wonderful sax of Jimmy Z and the wonderful jazzy musical breath that is Angie's voice. @danilozaccaria927111 ай бұрын
The title song is my favored. You know that Angelina is the girl with a thousand voices. What I call her Genius is the fact that, no matter what song she decides to sing, she always knows exactly what voice to use. The " insane" control she has on her " Instrument" allows her to know exactly when,where,how,for how long throw in the rasp, the right kind of vibrato( short/ long/ breathy and other variations only she can think of) grit, groove, you name it. In his book " The Odissea" Omero ( ancient greek writer) speaks of some sea creatures called the Syrens who enchanted, mesmerised and entrapped the poor sailors mind,heart and soul. Well, as far as I'm concerned, those Syrens would be just background vocals for Angelina. Ciao. Danilo ( Angel) da Roma Italia. ❤
@Pyanfar11 ай бұрын
I had the same thought about the Syrens, but for some disturbing reason I don't really want to think too deeply about, I also thought about Succubus! Nothing to do with Angelina , probably my ex! But, yes, Angelina is a wonder of nature and a true musical genius. Bet you would never get her to admit even the thought though. She seems such a wonderful, classy, humane, and humble soul.

Great reaction, as always, thank you. I was surprised at your reaction that you've never heard Angelina in this style before. I was looking through your Angelina playlist and noticed you didn't know "Song for A" yet. Written and composed by Nico Cartosio for his album Melting explicitly for Angelina. It was published in April 2019 when Angelina was 13 years old, I don't know the recording date. A quote from Nico Cartosio about the song "Song for A is the only song on the album. It is performed by Angelina Jordan, a very young and very talented singer. I needed a bright finale for my instrumental album. After the series of cold hells and Melting itself I longed for a song of a liberated soul, a soul that was set free from suffering. So, I remembered a beautiful poem by Robert Burns^ and wrote this song especially for Angelina. And she gave a sensual performance.! " 👣💯 *AJ* 💯👣

Thank you for this. I totaly get that you would love to meet - or at least talk to Angelina about this (and probably a few other performances of her 😉). 👣I must say I simply love her rendition of this song. I do love this EP, but this is the song from that I mostly relate to. I had quite a few years living further north in Norway, and then had some 15 hours + in my car every year, driving home for Christmas. Chris Rea had quite a radio hit with this song in Norway during the 80s and 90s. Never failed to appear on radio during this time of those years. If not daily, at least quite often. And during my travel, this was clearly one of those that prepared my holiday mood and did put it right in plase☺ As Angelina now lent her wonder-voice to this song, she sure made it grow even better to me. So now this is my daily input to set my holiday-mood. And these days I have no long drive for reaching home, but surtenly quite a few great memories to travel back into. So Thank you Angelina - Tusen Takk - bless you all and great Chistmas holiday time to everyone 👣✨ 🤗❤🎄

Maybe as part of the interplay throughout the song between the sax and her voice, the sax gets to take on the raspy, riff-y role and she flips to take on a contrasting smooth, straight (no riffs; only occasional, gentler, vibrato) delivery. Moreover, she clearly respects the top-tier musicians she has worked with throughout her career and doesn't hesitate, as in this song, to let them shine right alongside her. Whatever the reason, we can be sure it was intentional.
@YourOnlineSingingCoach11 ай бұрын

Hi! As usual loving your reaction and analysis! Regarding Angelina's tone, in my humble opinion, she went for the opposite of what the original by Chris Rea sounds like. Love your 'pastels' comparison! This takes me back to listening to my parent's record collection back in the Swing era. I've heard this 20-30 times now and love it more each time. The other songs are from two years ago working with a full band of legendary jazz background musicians. Less breathy. Much more 40s traditional. This title includes Rob Christie (doing everything but drums & sax) and Jimmy Z from the Christmas concert. A fan (JoeyFarr1) has posted a one hour plus video containing the entire 2021 concert. It's likely going to get taken down for copyright reasons, but while its there, you may want to go listen to the interview section. Seems like you might appreciate the reminising.

Driving Home for Xmas by Chris Rea, was a slower tempo tune. Angelina's vision is jazzy and upbeat, with Jimmy Z on Sax and on piano Rob Christie. Of course, Angelina's valet voice makes this song a Xmas classic to enjoy every year!

The thing that I love about Angelina is her versatility and her willingness to change what she is doing vocally from one song to the next. I do listen to other artists, but I find that she is able to give me so much variety , that for every ten songs I listen to, nine will be Angelina's. I'm actually becoming a bit concerned about my fascination with her music, as it has caused me to stream so much of her music that according to spotify, I'm one of four people who are her top 0.001% of listeners. What is even more concerning is that I actually prefer the quality of Amazon music over spotify, so I stream there as well. There are two reasons that I stream her music so much, the first is that I love her music and the second is that Angelina has stated that the label wants to see her streaming numbers improve, especially on spotify. It is possibly one of the reasons why we have seen no promotion as yet, because although her numbers have improved slightly, I'm not sure if it's enough. If you are a fan of this amazing young artist, please consider joining one of the streaming platforms and help her get the recognition she deserves.

Instant happy vibes. Before she even utters a sound! Then, omg, that voice! She knows no boundaries. Any style of music, any style of singing, any key. I do believe she has to have a 4+ octave voice. The lowest I heard was her cover of "How Great Thou Art", and the highest, was the final note of "Unchained Melody" (her most recent version from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony a couple days ago). I do not have a handy way to tell what that range is, but i would bet it has to be 4 octaves! Great reaction.

@@keithserafy Here's my opinion Keith...songs are no doubt from the Christmas concert and remixed for better quality by Republic...these are the same Legendary musicians in each song which I highly highly doubt would all get together again for a do over. Think that is the logical explanation, at least in my opinion. Merry Christmas.

Yes, agreed. She has been giving us some of this earlier, but this still feels quite a bit different to me tbh. Higher pitched and even more consistently airy and silky smooth I think. But ofc, the maturity in her voice also plays a very important part in how I perceive this. All in all, a new sound picture to ME at least 🙂@@geoffreynorth9046

I have been wondering the same, and I just can't make up my mind. But I do have a feeling that they have 🙂@@keithserafy

Maybe it's my age, but I'm hearing Marilyn Monroe in her tone. Soft, fluffy, friendly, intimate. The kind of voice you want to hear when you're, for example, driving home in your car. And so catchy. Thank you for a great reaction.

Love this song by AJ, she chooses her sounds and vocals by the messages she wants to send out.❤❤

My favorite by Angelina is The Christmas Song, but this song has always been my favorite. The original was sung by Mel Torma I think.

I listened the full ep today and must say that was my favorite too (though of course they were all fantastic!!!)

I wish my favorite singer Haley could hold a candle to her. Sadly there's a reason why Haley's career is going nowhere.

I’m curious which Haley you’re referring to? 🤔

Same tone and probably same key and styling as she did for.HEAL THE WORLD, by Miclael Jackson

It's amazing what auto tune could do with someone that has not very good pitch

James/Jim Jack, we all know about your autism and mental issues thanks to your mother who was brave enough to use your account to explain your issues to all of us. So we will not take your negative comments seriously. It's nice that you also post positive comments of her as well. We pray for you and your mom. She is such a loving and caring soul to tell us about you. 🙏🙏🙏

Are you sure you are talking about the correct artist? If so, it is, in fact, you who are tone deaf!

It is amazing what it can do, but Angelina doesn’t have any problems with pitch.
