Thanks for another great reaction / analysis. I love this intimate yellow reinterpretation of EJ's song. For me Angelina is absolutely fantastic at engaging listeners, she is almost an emotional amplifier (if that makes sense 😃) and all her interpretations manage to get to the heart and move you. Again her version of this song, captivates you with her simplicity, melancholy and sweetness, while the slow, smooth progression of her vocals to those awesome riffs is masterful. Angelina's rendition is a takeoff on the version by Sara Bareilles. Elton John stated that Sara's version of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road was the best cover of that song he had ever heard. Angelina took Sara's version to a new place, and I believe made it even better. All kinds of stuff going on here with just about every note but not a hint of it being overdone. Angelina made me understand what this song was about. With Elton, it was pop music that I heard probably a thousand times in my youth. Angelina, aside from her musical talent, delivers the message of the lyrics so clearly in all her songs. I’m sure you’ve received lots of requests to watch Angelina at 9 singing I Put a Spell on You. I’ll add my own here because I think your areas of expertise would provide great commentary. It’s maybe her most technical vocal performance, giving us old school blues with a voice, vocal effects, and attitude that sound like a mature, experienced, seasoned blues singer. This is such a beautiful version. She has a very rich vocal toolbox and uses it with great precision to deliver beautiful performances. She does not seem out to impress but to perform and to tell the story. I love the big blast and I think I love the long marathon top to bottom run even better. Just amazing :-) Angelina has beautiful lower register. In general there is a lot of attention going to high register belting and the lower register of singers is undervalued. Beautiful low singing can be so soothing and relaxing. She has two songs in which you can really hear her lower register really wel: ‘You make me feel so young’ in which she uses the key Frank Sinatra sang and ‘How great thou art’ in which she uses the key Elvis sang it. So I looked on your page, and it looks like you haven’t watched Angelina’s first performance on America’s Got Talent, Bohemian Rhapsody. You will LOVE it if you loved this one. Remember she’s 13 here. I really like the way you analyze, and so I want to share something with you. In all the times I’ve watched reactions to this song, I have never heard anyone mention this: On that last run at the end of the song, she starts out making a sound like an owl and then finishes it with the sound of a hound dog. This is the best part: There is a video of her practicing this song before the performance, and she sang that run completely different, which means that she thought of it and sang it that way on the fly! Who can do that besides Angelina Jordan? And who would change it up while standing before thousands of people in the audience and millions watching on TV? Only Angelina Jordan!

I like the way she sings, "I didn't sign up with you," and the camera cuts to Simon. That director knew what they were doing! She didn't sign up with him. "Making the vowels interesting" - that's a very useful insight. Angelina seems to have thought out every vowel and every consonant in each song so as to make them as interesting as possible. Got Talent Global is just the KZbin page they put different performances by different artists from all of the Got Talent shows around the world. Even though this aired on TV in Feb 2020, the whole show was pre-recorded in Oct 2019, so it's over 2 1/2 years ago & her voice has really matured. When you see the TikTok 2.0 version of this song, you will see that development & she recorded it herself with her cellphone at her house while playing the keyboard. Her run on the word "toad" is ethereal & will blow your mind. Too bad you didn't do both together. It's always great to compare Angelina's performances of the same song separated by a few years. Angelina was singing the second performance of her life and it's one of the few times she let her runs out full force. Usually she's much more reserved. Loved your analysis of 'Il'd Rather Go Blind' Whether she had it backward accidentally or intentionally it worked. She transported me right back to 1968 when Etta James performed it.
