I've never been a fan of this song (by anyone). But, this is an amazing performance by Angelina, at age 12. Your comment about not realizing she could belt may be a clue as to why she elected to challenge herself with this song. She certainly checked that, and several other, boxes. As others have mentioned, she has more recently decided to own this song and set about doing it, in no uncertain terms.

Great reaction to 12 year old Angelina, Buddy! With lungs FAR from fully developed I might add😉 You know, in many ways I look at this performance as her answer to a few "evil" tongues who had up until this point been claiming that she couldn't belt. Those voices went silent awfully quick 😂 So mission complete. She said "Oh Yeah??? Here, hold my shoes! " and the rest is history. Much love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

Don't you worry 2 Gen about expressing the right "words" , you are doing a great job so do not worry about it. This young Angelina version to me is stunning, she took on a great Whitney song, it was a tribute to Whitney, one of Angelina's idols and it was outstanding. You may see comments about Angelina stretching her vocals at this age to sing this song and may not be absolutely "perfect" but who really cares, it is a fantastic tribute/cover by the young lady....she plays to the camera and just endears our hearts. Most certainly, the newer versions she has done 3 years after this are even better as she has improved 10 fold in that short period of time. Glad to see you are going to have a look at them as well. I think Angelina likes performing this song. In the past year she has sung this song on four* separate occasions and all of them are exceptional (all separately recorded, too). Many new Angels may have shared with you that another version should have been reacted to first. In my estimation, they’re ALL good. It’s nice to hear this earlier version. I think she was thirteen when she recorded this. It just goes to show you what high standards Angelina always sets. This first go-round is nearly flawless. Continue to react to other versions if you wish - you’ll get no complaints from hardcore Angels. Great reaction BTW. 😉👍🏼 * I know of one other occasion where she most likely performed this song again, but there are no known recordings of it.

She has two other versions of this song from this past summer at 16 yrs old, one in studio with Republic Records and the other version live in Norway/Sweden All sang pa Grenson concert, I prefer the latter performance live, you should do a Reaction to them both together, that would be cool 😎

This time, this video reflects a period when Angelina was still working on this giant song and we can hear a very respectable rendition. @@2genreactions Sorry for chiming in here, but if you will indeed react to her performance of it at 16, I'd really recommend that you react to her live outdoors performance on a vastly popular singalong TV program here in Norway. She performed in on June 23rd last year, and it was her first time live on stage since her performances on America's Got Talent in 2020, when she was 13. To perform like this is totally crazy to me. Another crazy thing is that I actually think Angelina sings better live than in studio. Not too many artists I can say that about. But there was a problem with the wind messing up the audio for her first try, so she had to sing it again with barely 2 minutes to catch her breath before she sang this version. Like me, you have done what most people who request reactions SHOULD do… provide a link! 😉 As I have noted above, Angelina has sung this song MANY times in public this year. To be honest with you, it’s not one of my favorite songs, although it really highlights Angelina’s exceptional (and consistent) vocal abilities. I think part of my aversion to this song is that I “lived through it”. When it was at the top of the charts it was played incessantly…ALL the time… for close to a decade… and I had my fill of it. 😬 That I have willingly listened to this “overplayed” song close to 100 times this year (all by Angelina) says volumes as to how good Angelina truly is. 😉🎶🖤👣

As a musician, regardless of genre, you can appreciate her craft and art much more than the common person can. The composer of this song, so I was informed, made sure, that his dear friend Angelina can sing this song whenever she feels like it. They know each other for many years. The signs for staying true to herself seem very good. We all suspect her album with her originals will be "Pop-Jazz" a genre she patented. Is there a better way to draw the younger generation away from that crap of synthesized, plasticy, overproduced with computers??? I saw so many young reactors on YT, discovering AJ and they all said the same. THIS IS REAL MUSIC. SIR, be safe and sound. Elmar from Germany.

Angelina Jordan Studio Version "I HAVE NOTHING" kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4mTmGxvn7NlbLc DGen!! The version you just covered was Angelina around age of 13? While she did a great job, the track was more of a Karaoke type & in a key for a true SOPRANO as was the original singer. I'm in no way saying this version was lacking in her performance... But it didn't do justice to Angelina due to the key in which she sang it... It was like giving you a ukaleale and expecting an excellent cover of the guitar solo by Eddie Van Halen in MJ's "Beat it" 😉😉. You may have come close but not to your full satisfaction. Now, the outdoors concert version was wonderful but it, too had challenges.. it was cold, windy, and she had to perform it 2X back to back... Not the ideal setting for performing this to HER liking. The result was a remake she wanted done... Above is the link to the studio version she came back to the States and recorded. The true artist wasn't satisfied with anything less than what SHE wanted to produce. This is necessarily a request for a reaction as much as it is, in my view, a respectful nod to Angelina and her commitment to produce excellence in all she sings.... So, I won't ask if I'll see you on the flipside, I'm subscribed so I'll never miss one of your reactions.... Only that I always look forward to them (which didn't disappoint when it came to Satriani) Peace, good Sir....
