Nice reaction! On the piano is the co-writer of the song, Toby Gad. Just to let you know, the other co-writer of the song, BC Jean, was the first to sing the song as well as the person the song came from. She had just broken up with the man that she loved. Per Toby, he played it for Beyonce one day and she really wanted to sing and use this song, and the rest you say is history. Angelina and Toby have been working together for a while now and are creating new music for her to sing. They teased a song at a special event called Bad Valentine and it should be coming out within a few months. This collaboration is awesome! The Piano Diaries is Toby's project of other singers singing his most famous songs. Angelina of course is singing this song made famous by Beyonce. Who is Toby Gad? Gad is a German music producer and songwriter based in Los Angeles. He is known for co-writing songs including John Legend's biggest hit, "All of Me", the fifth-highest certified single in RIAA history, and for co-writing and producing "Big Girls Don't Cry" by Fergie and "If I Were a Boy" by Beyoncé. Pool, I know Boudy (Arab Man) said he thought it was the same vocal track for both videos, but I don't buy it. They are obviously both studio recordings, but as you said the arrangement is different. The tempo is different & her belting parts are different & more intense in this. Angelina has recorded 2 or more versions of her original songs in the past, so why not for this. However, I'm no expert & could be totally wrong, but I just find it hard to believe they are the same. All I know is I much prefer this version over the Music Video & it's not even close.

Her voice is more in the forefront in the Church video, which may lead one to believe it's 2 different takes. That's my opinion and I stick to it😆

In this one you see more physical expression along with the singing. This video was brilliantly made, her singing and the piano with strings boosted it up giving her room to use different vocal technics that she uses to express the feels the song required. Red if you listen closely at the end you hear an overlay of background vocals. Your half right. It is a live recording in the church but the recording would have been remastered back at the studio. It offers a blend of effects. It is well done but like you I love the presentence that comes from the church. It seems to bring out her voice clarity and runs.

I liked what you said about the videos and that the one made in the chuch is more like the image we know of Angelina than the other. IMO the more " pop" video so to speak, was broadcast to reach a younger audience . A cover only in the sense that what Beyoncé made was a cover of the song written by BC Jean and Toby Gad, originally performed by Jean in 2008. Beyoncé's cover was that same year. If you watch and listen carefully in the beginning you can see and hear piano foot pedal effecting the strings almost like a kick base. In perfect time to the music. Keep up the good work RHN.

Think about it. To get ready for this performance she and he performed it many times both in practice and public (at least four times). That means we had these two musicians jamming together .. I don't know, but it's possible the piano, cello and vocals were recorded live in the church and the other orchestration added in post production. I love all of the performances (5 or 6) of them, but this one is my favorite. Angelina's voice with the strings and piano makes it very touching.

Hey Red. I think it's the same vocals, different arrangement and instruments. Can't pick a favorite. Both at the Top of My List along with 'Bad Valentine'. Every time we think she can't get better, She takes it to another level. The more I look at this team the more excited I get. I like many had no idea who Toby Gad is. I learned about him after her first performance with him. Another Powerhouse Writer Producer who has worked with only the best of the Industry past and present. Diane Warren another legend visited with Angelina but little came of it. This is very different than that. Angelina and Toby have declared they are working on original material together that they hinted would be available this fall. We are all of course hoping is the long-awaited Album. Some predictions in the past have failed to materialize as predicted. Let's hope this is not the same. And I've been thinking about the timing which would be brilliant. Many have mentioned a release in September would be late to qualify for this year’s Grammys. What if that is the plan. We already have two Grammy worthy releases with 'If I Were a Boy' and 'Bad Valentine out right now which will be eligible this year. Produced and performed by two powerhouse singer/songwriters/producers in Angelina and Toby. All of the songs on the album would be eligible for the following year's Grammys. At least in this scenario. If one or both songs win a Grammy think about the runway that would have for a Full year and from the very same powerhouse duo. Having already won they will both be well known by then having already won the Grammy(s). All of those new songs from the new album will be eligible for those Grammys. They will be knocking on the door of the industry. Banging actually! I don't think she can be ignored anymore! Great reaction to a Beautiful song. One further thought. Hopefully the album is going to be more of the same or similar production. That being the case this is going to be the signature sound, style and voice that will be used to introduce Angelina to the World. This will be her sound, her style. I know that many listening to Angelina hesitate to say her covers are better than the originals because singers like Beyonce, Adele, Lana Del Rey among others have garnered millions of followers while achieving wide commercial success. However this dilemma presents itself, I also think that many in the industry see and hear in Angelina a superior vocalist who is at her mere 18 years is already singing circles around most with a shelf full of Grammys.

I fell in love with this version, especially the addition of the Cello. The walking video was just too busy in comparison. That is not a pan, but a preference. Angelina does everything beautifully, period. Now, please make the next step "Bad Valentine" which is a showcase of the "Future is Now". This year will be great.

I agree with your comments about the differences and why you can appreciate both. The London video, for me, is more fun to watch while listening. For just listening, I prefer the closest thing I can get to just Angelina with minimal to no backing (which would be this performance).

Thanks for reacting to this version too. It’s the same vocal track as the music video version. The difference between the two is the instrumentation which gives each version a different feel. What I like about the stripped down version is that you can hear the texture, details and nuances in her voice more clearly.

It is so beautifully performed, but it it not live. I think Angelinas voice recording is used for both videos and the instrumental parts are different. You can clearly hear that it is not recorded in the church or the echo is filtered out: when she walks in at the beginning you can hear the echo of the building clearly and when she starts singing the echo is gone.

Great reaction Red! I really love this version. However, it's not a live recording. The vocal tracks from the two videos are the same, but have been mixed differently. Toby also said that the cello player in the video is not the same one as on the recording. Nevertheless, this is an outstanding video! Look forward to seeing if you've been a "Bad Valentine" 🙃😁

Some people say that they believe this is prerecorded due to the extra strings you can hear but Angelina is reported to have said that they performed it here because of the great acoustics. This suggests the extra strings were added after the initial recording in the church. Just my thoughts. Loved your reaction.

Now I need to be careful what I tell you. You’re very perceptive and found out there are two different backing tracks to her vocals. One for more her age group and one with less instrumentation so her voice is more captivating. Now listen to the two live on stage videos with just her, Toby, the cellist and a lady on violin.
