When I do a search on youtube with her name and the name of the song, either in French or in English, I get videos that are definitely not Édith Piaf singing. They are usually either by Mireille Mathieu or by a Brazilian singer. This recording is very special to me. The first part didn't feel very credible and a bit imitation. The stopping just before the words seem like creating an effect. Like her age doesn't match the text (the fact that she has to read the lyrics sometimes doesn't help). But than after a couple of sentences I can see how she is searching for truth in her expression. And she finds it via the music! As if singing the melody leads her the way. And than it really gets beautiful! And more and more convincing. Despite her reading! Besides her appealing voice, she is a damn good actress! It's like she did not only listen to the great songs from the past, but also as if she watched all the big movies of those days too! How nice the video is upgraded, by the way! :-)

Someone once said of George Jones the great country western singer, " he sings songs so sad that your dog will cry". Angelina has that same ability. You can lose yourself in her vocals and the moods she creates within them. The fact that she is going to get better, kind of scares me a little. She already extracts my heart from my chest when she sings a sad song, I don't know what more she can take from me that's what scares me.I loved the pacing of this song.

This is a song about obsessive love; I can't live without you love. And I'm just amazed at how a 12 year old girl can capture the essence of this song more than anyone who has ever tried to do so. A lot of people have sung this song beautifully, and I love their versions. But no one has brought the gut-wrenching desperation to these lyrics like Angelina. This is absolutely beautiful, Rusty. The song is another one my band used to do and I had to sit quietly and wait for Roll Over Beethoven or something. 😂 I loved listening to the song but I don’t think I appreciated how beautiful it is.
