Today marks the 8th anniversary of our mom’s passing. Music has brought us through many difficult days, and we decided to honor her life by reacting to Angelina Jordan’s cover of Dolly Parton's classic song, “I Will Always Love You.” Whitney Houston's version of this song has a very special place in our hearts. Let us know that one song that gives you life or makes you emotional every time you hear it!

We had hoped to release our reaction to Angelina Jordan’s original song, Million Miles, today, but unfortunately it was blocked due to copyright restrictions. Nevertheless, we hope you enjoy today’s video, as it was a very special one for us to create. Don’t forget to let us know in the comments what your special song is! 🙏🏽

Well to be honest I love them all. It seems any thing she sings will be great. Her ability to use inflection and elicit emotions from her singing is just, well it makes me think she has Pipes straight from heaven. Makes one sort of worry if she sang a real sad song. :) If you could have her do a cover of any song, what would you want and why? For me, Viera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" It has a classy not and the jazz/big band feel she does so well, so the feeling of the song, the sad hopeful feeling of London just as the Blitz was ending and America had entered the war would be solid and so tangible. I really think she could do it justice. Any way I'm here with you guys and I hope you get Million Miles up, I don't see others having trouble with it that's odd but I don't know there system so.

This isn't the comment I intended to make, so I'll be commenting again but I just read your words and I don't know which video of Million Miles was blocked due to copyright. Possibly the artistic video which I believe uses her grandmother's and perhaps some of her own artwork would be allowed..

@ronraskind
@ronraskind 2 жыл бұрын
Guys, this was the most genuine and heartfelt presentation I've ever seen here on KZbin. This was not a reaction. It was a Love fest. It is obvious that your mom had a purpose here on this Earth. That was to raise two of the most wonderful sons a mom could have. I am older and have lost both my parents so I know what it's like to grieve. I imagine it's even harder when you're younger. But being able to face it and learn to accept it and move on with hope is the best one can do. It's what she would have wanted. Angelina is obviously in your wheelhouse, as her sincerity and emotion pour out of her as yours did tonight. You're all real with no facade. As you said, her performance tonight was raw with no embellishments. And you guys don't need embellishments either to make an impact. You mentioned that a million miles was blocked. Some have put a filter over the screen which has worked fine. Others have blocked the screen totally and just played the audio which is riveting in itself. This original song of Angelina is one of Hope which you can identify with in many angels have experienced cleansing after listening to this. I truly hope you can find a way to make it work as others have successfully. Thank you for what you do and don't change a thing. I along with hundreds of other angels will be there for you.

I am so sorry for your loss, I can`t even imagine how losing your mother to an overdose would affect you both. But this was such a beautiful way to remember her. If she was here, I am sure she would be so proud of you both, Jared and Jordan. I can feel her tears in my heart 😢 I have lost too many close to me in my life, and have now only my sister and mum left. My dad, brother, husband and my baby girl, have all left. Life is so hard to understand sometimes. My grief will never let go. Believing in God has been so difficult these last years. Since you asked, the one song most dear to me, is the song my husband dedicated to me, through a reaction video, before he passed, Angelina`s "First time ever I saw your face". It`s pulling out every emotion I have in my body. Just like your song does for you here, for your mum 😢 Thank you so much for doing this reaction video. And for interacting with us the way you do. This is one of my favorites by Angelina, and her rendition is so close to Dolly Parton`s original, which I love so much. Angelina does such an amazing job with it. Her timing and back phrasing are just incredibly well done. I love it. Thank you guys, you are two of the best reactors on youtube, I think we all can agree on that. Much love to you both from Indonesia 💖🙏

@beardedwild Hi there, my friend, I deeply thank you for those wonderful words. If it hadn`t been for all support I`ve got from you amazing Angels, and for having Angelina`s music in my life, I don`t think I would have pulled through. I do believe in our Lord, since we Indonesians are a very religious people, but I have been tested more than my heart could handle. I am trying to find my way back, but I know I have a bit to go to get there. About my post, I didn`t want to draw any attention away from J&J, but I really love the way they interact with us, and I felt it was the right occasion to get some of my own thoughts out. Hi Sarlina, I really liked your comment even though there were some sad parts. Do you not lose your faith in God because he is the answer to mankind’s solutions including death. I lost one of my brothers quite a few years ago now and I was so devastated I couldn’t even listen to music for awhile. After his death I decided to find out the truth because there are so many religions but only one true God. I take comfort in the Scriptures and read portion every day and find that it really helps. Please take care and never give up hope

It cannot have been easy to open your souls to us. Thank you for letting us in. It was an honor to share this moment with you. There is one song that even people who have a difficult time letting their emotions out become quite emotional over titled Monsters by James Blunt. You are not only learning new artist from the past, but you are also learning history, and you are educating. Music unites people. You are uniting generations of people through history and music. Wow. You two are incredibly well-spoken, composed, mature, intelligent… it’s clear your mother did an incredible job. Not to discredit your own self-growth, of course. But I think there’s at least some amount of credit due to mama for raising you to be so good at doing it. She may not have been here long enough, but while she was, she clearly did a lot of things right - which can often outweigh the bad things. I think you guys and your sister are a great reflection of a pretty important person. I can’t imagine you’ll be too in the comments of this one, which is totally understandable. I know I wouldn’t want to read the same sentiments over and over from people who I’d selfishly think could never know how I felt. Even if many of them have. It would just irritate me. But if you do happen to stop by and see this one, you should know that you guys are doing a wonderful job. At just… being humans. Your eagerness to learn new things is admirable. You’re just… good. Don’t change.

Jared & Jordan, thank you for sharing this special day with the world. I am sure your mom is smiling in heaven as you are honoring her by helping others as your help yourselves. No one ever prepares you for losing your parents and it happened to the two of you while you were still very young. I lost my dad in 2019 and my mom in 2020 shortly after I discovered Angelina and her music. I lost my wife in 2017 and a stepson in 2019 and a good friend in 2020. I dealt with each loss by being strong and helping others in my family but never properly grieving. It took months of listening to Angelina and when she released "Million Miles" she finally broke down the barrier I had built around my emotions. I wept like a baby, over and over again as I watched reaction video after reaction video to her masterpiece. I greatly look forward to when you are able to upload your reaction to Million Miles. I have a heavy heart for your loss of your mother. I lost my eldest sister this past January 8th. It’s quite clear that Angelina answered your question of whether she could convey the essence of the emotion the lyrics in this song demand. Remember this: You never have to question if Angelina has the capacity to interpret and then convey the emotion of any song she sings. From the time she began singing Angelina’s highly developed instincts, hyper sensitive feel and intuition always shines through her vocals. Any of her fans will tell that these remarkable attributes are what separates her from other vocalists her age.

When Dolly Parton wrote and performed this song it was so emotional, raw, and, authentic. When Whitney Houston performed her famous cover of it she produced a much more polished and technically brilliant version. Angelina here somehow seems to embody the best of each of them. You should really react to Dolly's original from the 1970s, it will give you a different perspective when you see how the writer of this song performed it as it was very personal to her.

Angelina's version of Stay is another favorite she reads the lyrics as she sings just like she does in A Million Years Ago. I can't wait to see your next reaction. My heart is giving your hearts huge hugs ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Oh, lost mine a few years back to cancer, it's a tuff thing and even after your over it there are moments you just feel it fresh. In those moments I remember all the times she would comfort me telling me to stop crying. I think of how it would only hurt her if I was morning her rather than celebrating Life by living it. As My Grandfather would say, "They are in our hearts and through us they live still so make it good". Hope next time you will get to AJs song "Million Miles". I can understand why that may have been a bit hard for today considering why she made it. Bless you both and be well.

This was a beautiful tribute to mom. She would be so proud of both of you young men. I have told you before but I'll say it again, you guys have set the standard for reactors. Music is emotion, period. In my younger days I was always playing music or singing along to it on the radio on my stereo with a huge record collection I amassed. But I got away from music during my 40's and 50's and then I retired and found Angelina on YT and I haven't gone a day without listening to her. Music brings back so many fond memories of specific times and people and helps make life more bearable when things get a little tough. I truly hope that this video helped you find some solace. My heart goes out to you. Angelina was only 11 here but even at 11 she just knows how a song should be delivered. Technically this could be better but emotionally it's perfection. Her performance of STAY at 12 years old is sheer genius and the best version of the song and I adore Rihanna. btw, your mom had great taste in music! Whitney, to me, was the greatest singer of her time and one of the greatest of all time. The song that gets me the most emotional is "CATS IN THE CRADLE", the Harry Chapin version from 1974. It was my dad's favorite and made him a little emotional. Take care. You guys are the best!

Music that does that to me is Phillip Glass from the Film Kundun. Escape from India I saw the film around the time of my son's death. He was 27. It reflects the escape of the Dalai Lama from Tibet through the moutains to a safe haven in India. It is very up lifting , no real lyrics but some sensational chanting from Buddhist Monks. Fantastic.

I know Angelina would be honored by what this song, and her performance of it means to you. Her biggest desire and goal is to sing for the world and bring hope and love to the world through her music. I really appreciate the raw honesty of your reaction and you sharing your hearts with us all. It might interest you to know that when she and Egil, the guitarist, did this song, this was the first run through of this song. They would simply get together and jam to some songs that they both liked. Egil said in an interview that almost all of their recordings were either the first or second time through the song. You will notice that she even looks down at her iPad periodically to read the lyrics. I'm glad her music spoke to you as it did. You should definitely listen to her rendition of "Stay". Almost everyone who has reacted to her performance of "Stay" says that she puts so much more emotion and expression into the song than the Rihanna original. I look forward to your reaction to it. To react to this song by Angelina Jordan, shows a lot of courage to relive the emotional passing of your mom 8 yrs ago today, especially for you Jordan. I lost both parents, two brothers and a sister. The song "Million Miles" by Angelina helped me overcome my extreme grief of losing my best friend of 17 years 2 years ago. I loved him so much. He died in my arms. 72 years old add physically all alone now. But by listening to Angelina's song, dedicated to her Grandpa (2nd one) and to everyone who has lost a loved one, I realized that I'm never really alone. He's up there along with everyone else's loved ones looking down on us, in our hearts. She has 3 versions of. "Million Miles", a lyric video, live in Studio version and a music video. To get around being blocked, you may try putting a filter over the video or make the video smaller or block out the video and just listen to the audio. Most reactors get by by making the video smaller. She was 11 years old when she did this song. "Stay" is another amazing song she did at age 12. It also brought tears to my eyes. "A Million Years Ago" Adele also touches me very much, reflecting on the good things and the regrets of your life. Also at age 12 Most of her home videos icon in only one take as with the three mentioned above Just remember guys, you are never alone. Your mom is looking down on you, loves you very much, will always be in your heart and is very proud of you doing this tribute to her by Angelina Jordan. Take care, God bless.

You must react to her version of stay. It’s beyond incredible. Especially knowing it was your mums song. It will mean so much to you. Her version of bohemian rhapsody is one of my favourites but here is a quick list of her best songs in my opinion. That gave me goosebumps so much. “I’m still holding out you” “Stay” “Born to die” “Million years ago, acoustic” “Feeling good” (live on tv show) “Mans world” These are the songs I visit most often but everything she sings is incredible.

Thank you, Jared and Jordan for sharing this with us. I have long held the belief that only strong people have the courage to reveal their emotions publicly. The fact that you were prepared to react to this song, knowing how it would affect you, shows the type of courage that cannot be measured in words alone. I've had great respect for you since your first reaction to Angelina, and it has grown since then. I cannot think of any other reactors among the over twelve hundred who have posted reactions videos of her performances who would have the courage to do what you have done. Some observations about this particular video. Angelina was 11 in 2017 when the video was recorded, but it was not uploaded until 2019. It was recorded in a very basic studio at the home of Egil Clausen - the guitarist - and as you mentioned it is very basic. Angelina based her performance of the original singer/songwriter Dolly Parton and as she hadn't memorised the words, she was reading them from her iPhone (or it could have been an iPad). This was an impromptu performance, as are many where Angelina is accompanied by a single guitar. The usual pattern of events was they would meet at Egil's studio, accompanied by Mery Zamani, Angelina's maternal grandmother, who would have filmed the video. Then they would talk about various songs until Angelina chose one and asked him whether he knew the song. If he didn't, she asked him to listen to a recording of it and would then say "just follow me". Angelina has said she is going to release an album this year. I hope that this song is one of those included in it.

There are some losses that we never quite get over, that leave an eternal sore spot on our souls. I'm sure there is some musical/technical explanation for it, but I cannot understand how Angelina can tap into the emotional content of a song and convey it so magically. Another reactor says that Angelina just takes a bit of her soul and chucks it at you. She has the uncanny ability to find that sore spot on our souls and touch it gently and lovingly. She lets us release that old emotion without causing additional pain, but rather helps us heal. I'm a 60 year old man and I've seen my share of hard times, but she regularly reduces me to tears with her songs. Sometimes I don't even know why I'm crying. I'm glad to see that you've heard her "Million Miles". She wrote that song from a place similar to yours, after losing her beloved grandfather. She turned that pain into a song that ministers to the pain a lot of others have felt. Good job on this one, guys.

Gentlemen, my gratitude for your YT channel platform and it's purpose. Blessings to you both and for your awesome mother who watches over you two daily in the divine comfort of knowing what beautiful sons she spawned. I discovered #AngelinaJordan music right at the onset of the outbreak of COVID, dove into the rabbit hole of her amazing repertoire, even joined a couple of FB fan clubs to interact with decades of thousands of her fans throughout the world. Angelina music carried me through the dark and lonesome times as I struggled to persevere care providing for my mother who celebrated her 89th birth anniversary last October. She passed away peacefully last month and the void is still very real. I was raised playing music: piano, guitar, percussion, voice. My mother sang along with whatever played on the AM radio: Nat King Cole, Petula Clark, Vicki Carr, Julie London. I studied classical composers, folk artists, 60s rock, country artists, and jazz. Music is a universal language that requires no translation. Songs touch some but not all and never each in the same way. But your review and personal analytics of Angelina music is wonderful. My heart to yours, young men.

Jared and Jordan, thank you for that honest, heartfelt and impactful reaction. Many fans have written of Angelina's ability to both connect you to her world and to your own inner world as well. She is truly a soul-sharer. She/we understand the need for emotional release and she facilitates the process through her amazing empathic connections. Sorry for your loss! I am envious of what you have today. I grew up in a home devoid of love. I did not mourn when my parents or brothers passed. Nothing begets nothing. You two, however, have both strong memories of the past and your mom as well as your relationship today. Cherish these! Others have told you about "Stay". It is impressive. Wow. Thank you guys for being brave enough to share this with us. I think this was a loving tribute to your mother, and the prologue was a tasteful explanation of how you were affected and importantly how you were able to manage. This hit me hard b/c I lost my stepmother around the same time (8 years ago), for the exact same reason, and it was devastating. Jordan's catharsis helped me have one of my own, and helped recall good memories with clarity I haven't had in years. This took tremendous strength and courage to produce, but know that it will help heal others as well. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for this.

Her command excellence of so many different genres truly astounds me. Then, the fact that as a 'vocal chameleon', emulating other singer's voices, even Adele, as well as her two favorite jazz singers of all time (Billie Holiday) and Amy Winehouse is truly amazing. It doesn't matter if it's Whitney, Dinah Washington, Ella Fitzgerald, or even Rhianna, as well as Gloria Gaynor and Leslie Gore in the 'Pop" arena, she just applies her jazzy style and produces the best versions of all these songs I've ever heard. Did I mention 'country legend' Patsy Cline (Crazy) and 'Cry' by 'jazz great' Julie London? If not, please add them to my list and keep in mind that there are many more artists that number too many for me to list here.
