Angelina did such a great job with her debut under Republic. It true Angelina fashion, She gave us something right from her heart. It's contemporary, it's catchy, but it's still pure Angelina. Much like Amy Winehouse, when she wrote/sang Back To Black to honor a loved one who passed, Angelina digs deep into her inner self to pay respects to her Japanese grandfather who died in 2018. She also honored him by singing his favorite Japanese song 'Like A River Flow' when she went to Japan. The audience was amazed how well she handled the Japanese language. In truth, her mother and uncle (manager) were raised in Japan and speak the language fluently.

Like so many of her songs and covers she is always able to put a lot of emotions into them and of course this is also meant to be an emotional song and no matter how many times I listen to it, it brings tears to my eyes. I think her best original is "7th heaven", that has the jazz feel for sure and one of her last covers "My funny Valentine" really show how far she has come at 16 years old. I also hope you do some of the Adele covers like "All I ask" and "Easy on me", she does them justice and more.

Great analysis. I also noticed that this song has a very quick "burn in" during the first listening. It grabs your soul and pulls you into it, but at the same time makes you want to listen to it over and over again. Also, she pulled out her vocal palette tool kit and added her famously textured voice (tremolo) during many notes that needed that emotion. That isn't just vibrato- it is so high of a frequency that it almost goes unnoticed except for the unconscious part of your brain picking it up. She did this with her "Someone to Love" AGT Champions stage performances as well. Simply put- beautiful!

Here's a quote from her book "Mellom to hjerter" ("Between Two Hearts") about the shoeless girl who she gave her shoes to: "It was like there were stairs from the earth to the heavens. And I climb the stairs...."I stand between the heavens and the earth I stand between two hearts.” I believe she experiences a similar feeling when she thinks about her grandpa, and hence the ladder to the heavens in the lyric video. That video and Angelina and Grandma Mery’s artwork were a stroke of pure genius. Well, I’ve listened and watched over, and over, and over now, and lost count. I can truly say that the Lyrics in this song are unbelievable for someone so young to have written. And they truly do come from Angelina’s heart, that’s obvious when you hear them, as does everything she sings or does. Her best original lyrics to date, bar none! Not only does it speak to Angelina’s loss, it speaks to anyone who has lost someone they love. So in addition to her fabulous soothing vocals, her words have the same soothing effect. She also performed in concert last summer in Norway which I attended and recorded most of her live performances which I posted in KZbin. I really like your reaction to this- Angelina wrote this as a tribute to her Grandpa who passed away in 2018. In the broader context I see it not just for those we have lost, but also those who are apart from us - especially during the covid-19 pandemic. My grandson is 6000 miles away- but it may as well be a million miles. When I speak to my sister in the evening we are apart but we both look at the moon and somehow connect knowing we see the same thing. This song helps us release those emotions of loss and separation- thousands of people can let go those locked in tears while listening to Angelina. Just one more reference from the video - the final image is of Angelina (with those crazy teeth) and the blue eyed girl- from her book - Between two Hearts - she gave her shoes to her- and now has no contact, but she is still in her heart and we are reminded of it each time she performs barefoot......

It is wonderful how Angelina brings us closer somehow and releases our feelings so gently when we have loved ones so far away. Half my family is in Europe, half in the USA. I offer my thoughts on other solutions to this pandemic: Homeopathy has a better track record than Allopathy in epidemics... 1-3% mortality under homeopathic care versus 30% mortality under allopathic care during the Spanish Flu. Take a look at the movies: Magic Pills and One Small Drop. My personal experience of homeopathy spans almost thirty years. It is so comforting to me to know it as well as I do and be able to use it as needed because it has been so successful in clearing al manner of troubles for me and my family and others close to me. Extremely salty water gargled with every five minutes, using just small sips, and singing with it, for an entire hour can decimate viruses and bacteria in your throat where the command center is, especially when you catch it early. Everyone who has followed my instructions with the salt has said Wow! It worked! Thanks for your outstanding reaction. I to normally have to listen and hear a new song more than once to get its true sense and meaning. Maybe the lyric video helped but I sensed that this was a masterpiece from the beginning. Great reaction, Caleb. I think this is a beautiful song and a great start for Angelina. I think the imagery used in the video is amazing. It's based on artwork Angelina's grandmother Mery Zamani, a noted Iranian artist and poet. There are a couple of things that jump out at me. First is the image of the girl with her arms outstretched like she's holding the moon. It is strikingly similar to the end of the video for Fly Me To The Moon: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oJ_Rq5WaqZmSiKc The second is the image of her climbing the ladder, which reminds me of her interview on Anne Lindmo's TV show talking about her book. Anne asked Angelina to read a passage from her diary that she wrote after meeting the girl and giving away her shoes. Thank you Adam, I'm so glad & happy you did such a great reaction to Angie. Everyone said it below. I have some updated news for you. She wrote this shortly after her other grandpa died in Nov. 2019 (mom’s dad), she was 13. Angie & her grandma did the art for the video. Angelina said, “This song is dedicated to anyone who has lost a loved one. I wrote this song thinking about all the great memories I had with my grandpa and how much it hurts to lose someone. I hope this song finds a place in you heart, as it comes straight from mine”. Stargate producer singer/songwriter Dakota posted on her instagram regarding the collaboration with Angie, said “This girls talent is freakin insane.” (I do hope you buy & download her single to show your support for her art & music too.)

Hi Caleb, always enjoy your reactions. Most especially to our Angelina. This is such a special song, it sincerely touched my heart as it has so many others. So very proud of her, and so happy that this is the same Angelina we've come to love. Her ability to touch your heart with her beautiful voice and her beautiful spirit. Hey Caleb, usually you do some background on the song you react to... but I can see why, busy with your own release... not easy. I had already seen 20 reactions to this song... and there are like 100, but I only follow certain reactors who show a definite professional take. Not being a professional myself. This song, while exploring Angelina's loss of her grandad, was dedicated to all those people who have shared a similar loss. There is a true sadness in the song and yet a powerful message of peace and joy for the memories and the love that will always connect us even when we are a "million miles apart." NOW, my reaction to your single "Your Name" - like with Angelina's new release, it seems the producers almost make the voice a background to the beat and the piano, you have a great voice and it should be the primary ingredient... you know, like Gordon Ramsey says about cooking "Know which flavor you want to highlight, if you are serving Flounder, then the sauce should not overpower the flavor of the flounder. I love the video as the setting is very appropriate to the lyrics, raging waves of love breaking on barren and harden rock that let the wave funnel through the empty spaces, crevice's of disdain that refuse to give that pain of love footing on her shore. In "Empty Spaces" I dig your falsetto... but maybe a tad too much reverb, I think if your video was in a canyon where one would normally expect to hear echoes, but in the ocean, you needed the waves to overpower your voice, not have it echo it back without a reply. I also listened to your sing "Reverse, Repeat" which I found very intriguing, especially those very deep tones that reminded me of the Dwarven song about the misty mountains in Lord of the Rings which makes me realize that you have a troubadour quality to your voice, which is different than the minstrel sound of "Empty Spaces", one is a sound of a voice hardened by long travels, torn at in battle, while the minstrel who sings in court has the more higher tones of a more protected life where love is the greatest battle faced... like the theme song from the movie Romeo and Juliet by Franco Zeffirelli (1968). In "Reverse, Repeat" we are really able to hear your voice center stage, not a background singer to the music.

I really love your reactions & analysis of Angelina's newest song. Not surprisingly, this is my new favorite song by her. It leaves me in tears every time & it does get even better with each listening. I listened to your new song & I really liked it. It's a real "keeper" & I hope it is a commercial success for you. It's definitely an artistic success & I loved the simple stroll along the beautiful Australian shoreline. Sometimes "less is more." Is it the southern coast?

I lost both of my grandparents in 2018 and it still hits me right in the guts that they're not here. They both shaped me so much as a person and I am forever grateful to them so this song really gets me in the "feels" every time, but I cannot hear this song enough.

Wonderful reaction Caleb to the Angel. Very emotional, soul wrenching song about her Grandpa, but also perfect for these times as there are so many losses do to the virus.
