What a fitting reaction, & acknowledgment of Angelina's "18th Birthday"!!! A milestone in everybody's life, for her I think it's extra special....I see her little 7yr old face, with more hair than any 7yr old I've ever seen, missing her permanent teeth, saying "I want to be a Superstar!!" I see her in a music store, checking out albums & selecting a Billie Holiday album. This now young woman has always known what she wanted, and thank God she had all the support she needed to achieve her dreams come true. Confident, committed, humble, respectful, considerate of the children of the world's needs and committed to making this world a better place...and she's accomplished all of it...while she is on the cusp of the "Superstar" status, FOR ME, she's been that always...she just had to grow into it. You are right, this is a fitting song for the occasion. Angelina's breakout moment came when she was old enough to appear on NGT. From then on, she has taken charge of her own destiny to the extent to which she has been given control. Under the guidance of her loving family, she has been allowed to flourish as an artist and fulfill her destiny. She doesn't appear to have been encumbered by the restraints put on her as a minor, so that now at 18, she is old enough and wise enough to handle all the fame and fortune she has earned. This is also fitting in times when culture is obsessed with "is something fake/is it autotuned or produced" in the public sphere is "prettified" and scaled up to propaganda of wars raging. I think AJ would smile at me for responding to her honesty in this "naked" rendition and point out that 7-year-old girl singing in a bomb shelter in Ukraine (I can not find a version of it without an American voiceover). She lives in Poland right now to protect herself from bombs - just like children are dispersed all over Europe. I think everyone knows who that girl in Poland is right now because of....while cutting through propaganda. No, she is not autotuned of "fake". She is just singing with hope as a child here. Her cover with Solo Guitar of Rana's "Stay" is not to be missed...or her leaked cover of a song her mother felt was too controversial by the artist Baby Fuzz, "I'm Still Holding Out for You" is IMO one of the best recorded let alone preformed pieces in her collection especially given she was only 10. Lastly and close to my heart are her renditions of, Its a Man's World and the full Orchestra cover at Kork of her rendition of "Summertime." Yes, she has a contract giving her total control and rights this contract was signed when she was I think 16 certainly no older than 17.
